Chapter 76 - Chapter 76. Hungry

"The two of you are the only ones available who can probably stand a chance against the elder. You are tasked with following him and finding out about his home. We must keep him close," the manager said to the two in the room.

One of them was a lady gauging from her long flowing hair. She had a feminine figure that many would drool over for. Her height was 5'6. She was wearing a white mask that had green lines like waves. The guy was 6'2 tall and had black hair.

It seemed that the two knew each other.

"Leave him to us. He dared to cause that much damage to us? Yet, he even threatened us!" The female said with a mocking voice filled with menace but there was a hint of anger.

" Let's not forget that we are at fault here. We attacked the wrong guy. It is even a courtesy that he still agreed to work for us. What I want for you is not to engage with him but to keep tabs on him. Make sure to keep your distance. Hurry before he is out of our reach," the manager said and the two nodded.

The two headed to another elavator that appeared above the roof of a certain building. This building was around 100 meters away from the phone booth. They were using binoculars to keep tabs on the elder.

"I will keep the distance of 30 meters. Make sure that you keep the 100 meter distance," the guy said and the female nodded.

She watched as he maintained the distance from the elder and she too started following. After almost ten minutes, the elder started running heading towards an alleyway. The guy started chasing after him and she to tried to keep the distance leaping from one rooftop to another.

She finally found a perfect spot and she used the binoculars to see the two. She was shocked to see the elder materialize from the wall. But that was not the worst part but the fact that he raised his fist and fired a bullet from his wrist.

Luckily, her partner was able to evade it in time. She sighed but she could not engage or she would ruin the mission. The reason the two of them were given the same mission was because there was usually a worst case scenario where one of them died.

But she had hope that he would survive. When she saw him evade the second attack, she sighed and when they engaged, she looted for him when she saw him blocking the attacks. She was having a hard time keeping track of the punches but he was doing a good job doing so.

When they separated, she now knew that the battle was going to have a shift and true to her words, he was placed on the defensive mode and he even fell for a feign attack. She too would have fallen for it. But when he received the second attack, she was sure that he was no more.

She had not even realized that he had been shot. He fell on his knees and died. She felt her world spin. The guy was called Strange Viper and not many could even hurt him yet he had been killed with only two hits.

She had to inform this to the manager but she had to see what he would do to hide the evidence. She was shocked when she saw him burn the body. Then he picked the pistol which disappeared in his hand. She just realized something.

They were messing with the wrong person. She watched through the binoculars as he springed himself and spinned himself doing a strange kick. But thanks to her binoculars, she did notice the red laser that shot from the his foot.

The laser tore through the wall and its destination was locked. For Marx to have confidence that he could hit her with the laser from the disatnce just proved how much he had practiced during the mission.

The lady was just seeing the laser but it was too late. The laser reached her less than a second after it was released. It was not possible for her to evade it. She did not even get to remove the binoculars from her eyes as the laser shot through the nose bridge.

It then formed a hole through her head and travelled a distance before it stopped and disappeared. The laser then faded as Marx landed. He then walked from the alleyway and as he appeared at the main road, the mask and coat were no longer on his body.

He was nothing but a 17 years old boy. Even if someone saw him they could not guess his identity. He was the only one on the road and he did not even know how long it would take him to reach his home. Maybe he could just rent at a hotel for the night.

But he discarded the thought. He could go for at most a week without sleep. He would spend two days studying the city. Then, he would go after the man. He started marking all the placs he walked to. Marking every alleyway and names of buildings.

Some had the names 'faction' written on them but he did not dwell long on them. Daybreak finally knocked in and at around 0600 hours, he saw the first cab shuttle. The cab shuttle stopped and he had a communication with the driver.

"Can I rent you as my driver for the whole of today till 2100 hours? I am ready to pay the required amount. When the driver heard him, he hid his disdain and asked for payment.

"Pay now. 300A," he said. He knew that these arrogant brats were always messing with them but he had not expected for Marx to agree.

"Okay. Just dont ask for any more from me," he said and the driver scoffed. It was too early for him to be sweating. Bead of sweat formed on his face as Marx removed the UMC. He paid and got in.

The driver had his heart threatening to leap out of its cage. Was he messing with the wrong people this early morning? Thankfully this one did not punish him or mention his background or he would have been doomed.

" I am new here and I would like you to show me around the city," Marx said and the driver just nodded as he pressed the start button and took off. Marx realized that the driver was quite talkative. During lunch hour...

"Do you need me to stop for you to have a lunch?" The driver asked.

"I am fine. Just keep driving," he said and after a while.

"Are you sure that you are not hungry? I am willing to wait for you to have your meal," the driver persisted.

"Nah, I can go for days without food," Marx said still not connecting the driver's words.

"Don't you think that it is better to have a meal now? You were out early today. Its important not to skip meals. Especially for a teenager like you. You need your strength too much now at this age," the driver once again brought up the topic.

"Maybe others do need food but I don't think I am like them. I have not had a meal the past two days. I am only going to eat after two days," Marx said honestly. He was not planning on eating anything.

" Young man, if you don't know of a restaurant, I am willing to take you there. Once you taste the food there, you will have no other choice but to thank me," the driver said.

" Is that so?" Marx asked.

" Yes," the driver replied ecstatically.

" I will try it the next time. Thanks for telling me there are good restaurants. I will try it when I am free," he said crushing the drivers hopes of having lunch.

The driver was shedding dry tears. Just how had he encountered such a young master. Could he not at least connect the dots? He cold not give up yet

"Young man..."

"Okay, drive me to the restaurant. It must be a good one. I am even going to buy you a meal for referring me to it," Marx said.

"Right away," the driver said happily and drove faster.

He had a wry smile and he was still scratching his head. He realized that he was slow in catching up with the man's hidden message. He had failed to realize that while he could go for days, there was a driver with him who needed to have three meals a day.

That was why he had decided to treat him to a meal. The driver chose just a random hotel and Marx could tell. He smiled as the driver walked out first and entered the restaurant and took a seat at the back.

He then called for the waiteress who came at his call. The man quickly requested for his meal even before Marx could sit down. The waitress saw him and asked him what he would like and he asked for the same food the driver had asked for.

Marx sat on the opposite side and the driver started another round of his endless stories. Marx realized that he had just gotten the best person for his trip. The driver did not hesitate to tell him about any details no matter how embarassing it might sound.

The food was served and Marx dug into his slowly. But after the first bite, he could not stop himself from taking the second bite immediately and then in a few minutes, his plate was empty.

The driver looked at Marx with bewilderment. Did he not just say that he was not hungry? Yet he had finished his food faster than a starved lion. Marx request for the second round and then the third round. When he asked for the fourth, the waitress looked at the driver.

"Just do as he says," the driver said like he was the one paying. Marx finally downed the last round. He walked to the counter and paid leaving the waitress with widened horrified gaze. She felt glad that she did not offend him or look down on him earlier.

Marx got into the cab shuttle and for the first time he stated a destination. This caused the driver to raise a brow...
