Marx received a timer from the system. It said that he had only one month remaining. It said the mission was supposed to have a time limit of one month but he had just done it in less than a day. Those who issued these missions were on the hedge of going mad.
When Marx heard this, he looked at Mia and smiled pained. If only she was here to witness it all. Marx could want to leave immediately but he knew that even with the mission complete, there was no way he was getting transported back.
Instead, he was going to make the most out of his time here. He looked back at the elders and smiled again. He walked away heading towards the hilly sides. He was going to build her a resting place the highest part of the region so she would always watch over them.
He reached the top of the hill and he placed her on the ground. He looked at the sun and then back at her. He once again felt his eyes wet up. He warned everyone from mourning but could he stop himself?
"Sorry for its all my fault. Nothing will go wrong from today. Rest in the stars and watch over them and me too," Marx said as he rubbed her face.
Her lips were already drying and turning pale purple.
"You are my only one love in this life," he said and looked in the distance. He wiped his tears as he saw Jerry coming carrying the backpack. Marx removed a white t-shirt and put it on her.
Jerry could understand what was happening and he too had a sad face. They did not speak too much and Marx started gathering stones to burry her. It was until three hours that he felt he had collected enough. He took another two hours building the raised stone grave.
He then wrote her name on a larger stone. Then he added his name back there. He was a two sided coin and he could only show the head. The other side with value was only shown when he was with her. He placed it up there and asked the system to mark these coordinates so he would know if it worked. And visit her in the future.
It was now approaching sunset and a boy and an animal were seated with their hands back leaning on them staring at the setting sun. It was sad as Marx thought that her life had set just as the sun. He soon would, then meet her if there was fate.
He looked at the tomb and he saw it as her face. She was smiling brightly then she looked at the village which was kilometers away down the hill. For the next one month, Marx decided that this was going to be his abode. He decided to go and check out on the village.
"Hop on Jerry," he said as Jerry climbed to his place. Marx walked towards the village activating Halo Steps. It was not easy for them to notice him up there but he was happy with what he was seeing. Change was not rapid or instant but gradual.
He could see the small changes like the young girls who were wearing upper clothings like the married people. Also, he could see the honest smiles on them. He knew the changes in one month were going to be exponential.
He then went to the ocean after observing for a while. He stopped at the place they first met. He could see her walking to him and himself lost in her body. Just one day and he had made unforgettable memories with her.
It was already dark and he stared at the stars and assigned the brightest he had assigned to Kelly to Mia. She deserved it more. But he also searched for another bright star and assigned it to Kelly. It was the second brightest star.
He smiled knowing that whenever he saw that star, he would see her. He turned to walk back but he found Ram standing in front of him. Ram was still wearing a turban and the white loincloth. He did not dare to look Marx in the eye for he did not know how to face him.
"Oh it's you again. I did not see you today. I even thought that you were being punished too," Marx said casually like nothing had happened the previous day.
Ram grit his teeth. Why did this guy have to be so open minded? He reminded him of his sister. There was no one more worthy of her than this guy standing in front of him. He even threatened their lives but they had just forgotten about it.
He wanted them to scold him. He even wanted Marx to beat him up but Marx was already acting like they were long lost friends. He hated it. He needed to hear hateful words but he was receiving friendly talks.
"Won't you beat me up? I am the reason for her death! Don't you blame me? Won't you?" He asked shouting. But all he received was a smile which was followed by an amused grin. "Take off that expression! I want you to hate me!"
Marx stared at him. This guy was acting tough on the outside but he was actually soft hearted. The fact that he was feeling guilty was proof for it all. Marx had thought that he would have apologized to Mia yesterday but the guy still had his pride that led him.
"The fact that you are asking for punishment is enough of a punishment. If you want to get punished, why don't you make sure that you protect your sister's ideals? She hated it when girls walked half naked. Can't you do anything about it?
" Whatever they are wearing now to is still half naked. I bet she wanted to see the privacy of girls being protected," Marx said to him and approached him patting his shoulder. He then let go and walked away and spoke on his way
" You are a good guy Ram. Just put your pride away and you will see what I mean." He waved not looking back. But he felt fingers on his shoulder stopping him. He stopped and stared back to Ram with an amused smile.
"I saw that you have received no training in your attacks. We usually practice everyday since morning till before noon. I am inviting you to come and train with us from tomorrow before the day you leave. I know that you will be leaving soon. Don't just leave heartbroken. You can improve your attack power with us," he said and let go.
Marx turned and looked at him. He nodded in agreement.
" I have wanted to learn from you. Its a pleasure I cannot miss," Marx said and turned.
" That is my sister's most treasured thing. It is the tooth of the lion I killed. She has treasured it and even I never got a chance to touch it nor did anyone. It was treasured yet she gave it to you. Just don't treasure it any less," Ram said and bowed walking away.
Marx could already sense that the guy was going to release some pressure by crying far away from everyone. He sighed and activated halo steps. He had some questions he had to ask the system. Now that the mission was complete, he could as well get some answers.
"Will you still not explain about this mission? It is mostly a life mission not the other way round. Explain about these missions." Marx spoke. He had already come back to his abode.
Marx was thoughtful for a while. Could it be that everything was predestined? Was this how people used to read the stars because that is where destiny is written? He then proceeded to ask question. "Does that mean that also my getting of the cube was also predestined?" Marx really found everything confusing. He was still stuck on the religion factor and the words the system said seemed to be more than correct. He remembered just how people had come together to exorcise him. Was that not just one of the factors the system had talked about? Unity. Was there also not peace maintenance by trying to get rid of demons? He really needed to set off for the outer world. Many things would not make sense if he kept staying on Earth. He clenched his fists. He would have only one month left after he left this place. "Outer world, I am coming for you...'
