Chapter 66 - Chapter 66. Confession

Marx was currently in some foreign place he could not understand. What he saw were the beautiful colours that one day tried to destroy his body. He saw them all surrounding him and they did no damage to him at all.

He could not help but wonder what they were. They were also the reason for his improvement in stats. He wanted to know what they were. He raised his hand and touched them. They did not do anything to him but they just gave him a soothing feel.

It was the same as the day his body was being disintegrated but at least they did no damage to him. Instead, he could feel them coursing through his body. Whatever they were doing he could not connect.

He suddenly remembered that he was in the middle of a mission and he was poisoned. Things must have gone so far by now. He also did not know how far he had been out. He tried checking on the system but it was not active.

It seemed that this was a personal space even the system could not access. He could not have thought of leaving this place had he not been in the situation he was in currently. He just hoped that she did not do anything stupid.

He knew that she only followed her heart and she could do something she would regret. He had to wake up and check up on her. He tried to move but it was like he was stranded in space. No matter what direction he took, he could not find the end.

But the lights never faded. He did not want to give up but he knew that he could not leave here without outside influence. He also did not know what was going on with his real body. This was but his conciousness.

He stopped when he heard a distant voice. It was so faint but yet sad. He could not hear the exact words but he could try to follow it and find his way out. The problem was that the voice was coming from every side.

But it was then a light he did not recognize as his own appeared in a direction. The light was so bright that it competed with the lights from the cube. Marx flew as fast as he could towards the light and it reached a point where he felt like his world was over turning.

But when he went to the other side, it was dark. He could hear the voice clearly now. It was Mia who was speaking. But his thoughts went astray when he felt both his hands squeezing on two soft and familiar mounds.

So this was where the light was coming from. How had she even thought of that. Even if he was dazed when he felt her breasts, he did not dwell on it too much because of her words.

"I think I am going to die. I am scared... I will keep my promised and not cry. I will keep the smile as you always wanted. At least I got to give my heart to someone before my end. I found love..." She said biting her lower lip after the words.

Marx opened his eyes and saw her condition. Blood dripped from her lip's side like she was a vampire having just fed. She had her eyes closed looking up and did not even see that he has woken up. He did not understand why.

He pulled his hands from her breast which caused her to look down to him. A tear dropped from her but she wiped it quickly.

"I promised that am not going to cry and will smile till my last minute," she said and returned her smile back.

Marx did not care where his strength had come back from as he sat up and held her shoulders. He made her sit straight on his lap. He examined her and saw the pool of blood that was on the ground. He scanned her and he suddenly saw the wound on her belly.

It was like his head was torn apart. He could not hear anything as his blood boiled with rage. He clenched his fists not to take any action. He needed to know if there was anything he could do.

"What are your recommendations to treating her situation," Marx asked. He knew that the system was too advanced for it to lack an answer but its reply was like he was struck by a thunderbolt.

"No..." Marx stuttured. Why was she still smiling? He felt her hands on his face and she got closer to his face then whispered.

"Please allow me to be selfish once again," she said weakly and then brought her lips to his and pressed her's to his.

Marx was supposed to have his emotions surging but they were not. This was goodbye. Even if it felt good, it was even more painful than when his whole village was taken away. He returned her kiss by kissing back harder as her hand slipped from his face.

She removed the tooth necklace from her neck and handed it to him.

"Always use this to remember me," she said with the last of her breath and handing him the necklace.

She pulled away from his lips as the other hand slid down his face. She then managed to force a smile on her lips. She had been sitting on his lap as he made her do when he woke and her head fell on his chest. Marx felt as her body went cold every passing second.

His heart threatened to stop. Marx never shed tears anyhowly but he could not stop himself. He was the one crying when he told her not to cry. He was such an embarasment.

"She is gone," he mumbled to himself repeatedly. He hugged her too tightly as he roared at the skies once again. Those who heard his roar could hear the mixed emotions of pain and anger.

He did not want to raise his head to face all those around or he would have the temptations to kill them all. Then the system spoke to him making him fell like he would just jump off the cliff and die with her.

But he could not let her sacrifice be for vain. He had just been with her for less than 24 hours but he had managed to find someone who he wanted to do anything for. How was he going to live with this guilt?

He wiped the tears as he removed her hair from her face. She still had a smile. Marx let out a chuckle but it was a cry at the same time.

"Is it possible to love someone after just meeting them and being with them for less than a day? Because I can't mistake it that I love you," he said as he smiled at her. It was supposed to be a happy moment for her.

She had managed to gain her freedom though it was too late. He wiped his tears once again and raised his head. A cold glint appeared on his face as his eyes shone with the colours of the cube.

Even if he had just 60% of his power, he did not place them in their eyes. These people's lives were not worthy of paying for her's. Even killing them all would never be enough to pay for her life. He would have to kill everyone in the world so that he could feel that she had been compensated for.

All he could do was to make sure that her dreams became a reality. But he was not going to spare the one who killed her. He raised his fist and shot at him ten consecutive bullets. The chief and his wife were all tears.

Marx stood up carrying her. He then commanded.

"No one is supposed to mourn for her. You are the ones who have done this to her. If you feel sorry for her it is too late for you. If you feel sorry or sad, I say that you deserve nothing but death. You just did nothing even if you knew that it was you she was fighting for. She does not need any of your false sympathy.

"I want all of you to honour her will. If any of you feels that she has been wronged, then I want you all to take her death as a gateway to a new era. You all should mark this day and always honour it. As for her body, I will be taking her with me. Never dream of seeing her body ever again. She is going to be a saintess of your village. " Marx said and activated Halo Steps.

He started climbing as the people were bewildered by the sight. He truly was a messenger of the gods. He had even taken her away. He had made her a saintess. The gods had accepted them.

The chief fell on his knees. He sobbed and shed no tears. Even when he received a glare from Marx, he did not stop. All he was uttering were heartfelt words.

"My daughter, I am sorry. I loved you so much. I just couldn't show my affection to my daughter just because of this culture you called archaic. I don't even deserve to be your father. I have put you through more pain all this time just in the name of conserving our culture.

"Elders, I am not going to hear any objections from you at all. I am going to fulfil my daughter's and every woman's wish," the chief said still sobbing. The first elder who spoke shocked the rest of them.

" I have no objections. I have been holding myself from speaking this because I thought that you would all go against me but since its your decision, I am going to support you because that is also what I want. Am tired of this culture," he said.

" I also have nightmares when I think of our actions but I just can't bring myself to speak during the council or I will het opposed and punished. I was tired of this culture since long ago," another elder said.

It was like all these elders had been thinking of the same things. The chief looked at them as he stood up. He then bowed to the people and confessed too.

" The reason I have never brought it up is because I thought you elder supported our culture. I should have just brought it up long ago. Sorry all of you. The founders of this culture are long gone and it is regressive to us. I hereby command us to terminate it," the chief said and the people too went on their knees and spoke.

" We all concede."

Marx looked from above and smiled. It was like the mission was almost accomplished.

" This place will no longer be the same. This is all thanks to you. I now understand the prophecy..."
