Chapter 4 - Chapter 4. Limits

"Dammit," Marx cursed for like the hundredth time. He had found nothing. He almost hated Kelly. What was the use of having it? Especially when he could not even access it. She really left too much details.

He lay on his bed and closed his eyes. He amost hated the fact that he was an Earthling. But he could not bring himself to hate earth. It was his home. He laughed at the thought when other planet were moving forward, they were going ancient.

This brought him the second mission. If he ever managed to leave Earth, he was going to make sure that it was revived. He needed to make sure that Earth was remembered.

Just how could they forget? Wasn't Earth where God placed them to rule over? How far could they disobey him? At least visiting your home planet once a while would not hurt.

He was shameless and had been toying with the dying lady. If he ever found Mia, he would tell her of her mother's demise. He could want to her as his but he knew that it was impossible.Even maybe she was already taken. He laughed and dismissed the thoughts.

What Marx thought was that there were probably only ten planets conquered and finding the perpetrators of Kelly's death was going to be easy. He drifted to sleep fast. He was tired of thinking.

Early next morning as usual, he had his breakfast and greeted old man Jairus. He then left for the fallen city. He was in a good mood and he thought something would happen.

Nowadays there were little he could find. They had thoroughly searched all accessible rooms. Even the other captains had stopped coming out. Only he had not given up.

Through the woods and finally he stood infront of it. He rode into the city slowly. He had already imprinted the structure in his mind. Something he did not know was the presence of animals.

They also had recently started approaching the fallen city. Marx parked his bike outside a building. He was on the tenth floor searching room to room but the door he opened was a den of lions.

He had not noticed them due to the dark rooms but when he heard a rumbling. At first he thought it was his stomach but he realized it was a roar.

He had just accustomed to the darkness and in the 20 by 20 square meter room, he counter at least five lions. That was with one glance. He saw them surround him and one stood guard at the door.

The glass windows were meters away from him. Also he could be a fool to jump from the tenth floor. Whenever he encoutered life and death situation, all his mind thought was him dying.

Now he was thinking of how he would die even before he got to use it and leaving this planet. He said his goodbyes and prepared to face lions head on.

He was going to kick some lion ass before he died. He laughed .

"If only it was possible. Am the one getting my ass kicked," Marx laughed at himself.

He clenched his fists and invited the lions to charge at him. The lions opened their mouths and Marx was sure they laughed at him. He dropped his hands frustrated.

"Then come after me one by one," he said loudly. Again, he felt that the lions were laughing at him. He clenched his fists again.

"Then don't blame me for charging first," he said and ran to the lion at the door.

The lions did not even dare attack. The one he was charging at did not even move. It was seated waiting for him to make his move then finish him off.

Marx zoomed his fist as much as he could after reaching the lion. They were all seated as if they were watching a show of a mere ant trying to fall a tree.

Marx released the fist at the lion's head. He knew that it was futile and that he would die the moment the fist hit it. But at least he got to kick a lion's ass. The lion that had been laughing shivered.

The fur on its mane rose. It could could sende death from that one fist. But it was too late because the fist hit it cleanly on its chin. It was about to roar a warning to the others but its mouth was forcefully closed.

It bit its tongue and it did not even realize that its head had been detached from the body and was now minced meat. The lion died seated.

The others suddenly stood up and all roared at him. Marx looked at his fist and saw pieces of the lions head. He did not have to think about what was happening but he was now sure he got After Entropy and also he had super strength!

He now scanned the room again and saw a total of fifteen lions. The best thing to do in such a situation was not to fight back but to run away. He was not foolish enough to take them head on after he just realized that he had superstrength.

Since he had found the clearing to the exit, he did not hesitate and shot outside. He ran through the corridors and he could hear the Lions' footsteps behind him.

He reached the stairs and jumped five steps each time. The lions seemed to do better and could reach him even before he reached the fifth floor. He had been given a second chance and he could not agree to die here.

"After Entropy?" he thought. Just what was it? Marx did not seem to realize it but his speed was great and he was now ahead of the lions with half a floor.

When he had said After Entropy, something had happened. He could feel some buzzing in his head and also something like moving gears. It was like something was being created in his head.

But he did not have time to think of what it was. The lions were catching up once again. It was a miracle that he had not broken a leg all that while. He had already started jumping ten steps at a time.

The lions were getting frustrated. He seemed to be increasing his speed with every second that passed. It was about time they went all out at full speed.

Marx cursed. Just when he thought he was about to lose them, they were on his heel. He was descending the last flight of stairs of the fisrt floor and he did not hesitate to jump from the first floor to the ground floor.

The lions did the same. Marx quickly closed the entrance and leaned on it. He did not seem to realize that he was not panting from all that running.

Now that he had los... The entrance opened and Marx was back on his feet. He saw his bike and he quickly hopped on it. He cycled to the fullest.

The lions gave chase but seeing that the distance between them kept increasing they gave up. They roared as they saw him disappear from their vision.

Marx did not stop though even after they stopped. He had a feeling that if he continued cycling at the same pace without stopping, something would happen.

Thinking of that, he cycled even faster and faster. He cycled until he felt like he was not. But he did not stop and just cycled faster. It was close... He cycled so fast that he could be reaching the speed of 80km/hr.

"Very close..." He said gritting his teeth. He saw a road that went uphill and knew that whatever was happening was going to if he surpassed the current limit.

He headed uphill and expecting his speed to slow down, he did not. Instead, with the increased pressure, he cycled even fatser than before. The bike could be said to reach 90km/hr going uphill.

By the time he reached the top, the speed was 100km/hr and suddenly something inside him snapped. He felt like his body had been opened up to a cool breeze. All his cells seemed to be alive. Even his hair rose up.

His body appeared to have a blue glow and in his mind, something was happening. The gears he had felt rotated and suddenly, thousands of intertwined goldish gears moved.

They then started turning blue as they came to life. Every pore in his body felt open. The gears rotated even faster every second and in a few seconds, they appeared to be at standstill but they were moving at a great speed that they appeared to not be moving at all.

Then, his blue eyes glowed brighter and suddenly, a screen appeared infront of his eyes and he heard mechanical voice on the back of his head.

"What is happening?" He thought curiously.
