Chapter 6 - Chapter 6. Narrowly

All Marx could see was the red screen with many exclamation marks. Also it was in capital.

[DEFIANCE ALERT!!!!

USER MARX HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH DISHONOURING OF THE CONTRACT!!!!

SUITABLE PUNISHMENT TO BE METTED INSTANTLY!!!

[PUNISHMENT REQUIRMENTS: SURVIVE FOR TWO HOURS. DEATH DURING PUNISHMENT MEANS DEATH IN REAL LIFE. USER TO BE TRANSPORTED TO LOCATION IN 3... 2... 1...]

Marx was unsure what was happening but he could feel his body leaving. A strange feeling engulfed him. It was like he was being absorbed into nothingness. The feeling lasted for few seconds before he could clearly visiualize the surroundings.

[01:59:55]

He took a glimpse of the countdown. He had been anxious at first but after seeing his location, he was more than happy. He could see the rocky landscape and the scattered grass. The sun shone giving a goldish glow.

What was fun about the place were the creatures. Creature spanning around five meters long and two meters high were all around. So this was the outside world. He was very excited and thought.

"If punishment is being transported to have a tour, then I would rather take several punishments. Death my foot. Just large harmless creatures. What a kind system," Marx thought.

He was grinning widely like a fool watching the creatures. The creature were feeding on grass and even after sensing him did not take action. He was being tempted to get closer to have a better look.

All went silent as he felt everything go calm. Even the creatures that had been biting on the grass seemed to have stopped. Their eyes darted from side to side.

Marx was not sure what was happening but he had to do as they were doing. He was not dumb enough to make a move. Well the next sight caused him to get on his heels instantly.

One of the creatures with a long neck had had its head bitten off. Black blood spluttered everywhere and some dropped on his face. His eyes widened with horror and he took a step back.

The grass crunched and the a pair of red eyes were layed on him. The creature appeared to be three meters tall and almost seven meters long. Its body appeared to be made of brown sharp rocks.

It roared when it saw him. Its tongue was reddish and its teeth as many as a shark's. Horror stricken. It had six legs. Marx turned on his heels and put on top speed. He was shocked to realize that the boost he received from the system were gone.

He could hear giant steps behind him which shook the ground. He could tell that in the next few seconds, it would have caught up with him. He was already panicky and he could feel he was losing his breath.

He dared to take a look and saw that it was ten meters behind him. Just one stride it would take and it would catch up with him. With that in thought he ignored the fact that was getting tired.

He pressed on at full speed and he suddenly lost his footing. He did not even realize that he was midair. The creature had stepped on the rock behind him crashing it and sending him flying.

He fell and rolled several times before he stopped another ten meters from the creature. He ignored the pain from the cuts by the rock pieces and stood up again. He knew that another stride and the creature would be on him.

Standing up, he did not even take time to study his surrounding and rushed forward. He slid on his feet and stopped few inches away from the edge of a cliff. The creature seeing that he was cornered took another jump and landed on the cliff.

It did not hesitate and charged at him. Marx took steps backward until he could take no more. The creature's red eyes were filled with bloodlist that shook him to the core.

Marx thought that this was the end but luck was on his side. There was a crack on the cliff from the part where the creature had landed. Spider web-like cracks appeared on it. The creature had a horrified look.

Marx was half happy and half anxious. His lifespan had been increased with a few seconds. He could not die alone and the perpetrator of his death was standing infront of him.

He jumped and landed on the cliff. The cracks widened and the edge broke. The creature which had its front legs and weight on the cracked part, tried to stop itself from falling by crawling backwards but it slid and followed after Marx.

Marx was laughing like maniac. Seeing the creature falling after him made him feel content. He had managed to kick some ass. The rocks were falling ahead of him and the creature was catching up with him.

He saw the creature reach him and pass him. He closed his eyes knowing that he would die after it. He could not help but wonder how high the cliff was. Not that it mattered for he was going to die anyway.

It took almost an entire minute before he heard the first impact. He had even forgotten that he was falling and was now just enjoying the breeze as the wind blew over him. What a calm death he was going to experience.

To his surprise, there was water below the cliff. He opened his eyes and saw the creature break into pieces after hitting the water. He quickly took that chance and dived into the water.

He then swam his way to the top and looked at the vast ocean. The good thing was that he could see the shore.

[01:31:12]

He cursed at the clock. Was it that it had been slowed down? He sighed and swam towards the shore. He was now standing on the sand looking at his surrounding. He liked the red eyed creature better.

Just when he thought that his lifespan had been increased, he met death staring at him. Around him were almost ten crocodiles. They appeared starved and upon landing their eyes on him, they shone with desire.

Marx could not wait and started running again. Even taking a rest had proven difficult. He could feel the crocodiles catching up on him. He dared look back and they were almost fifteen meters away from him.

He ran at full speed and he found himself headed into bushy ground. He did not stop but he felt the crocodile had stopped. He went further fifty meters. The bushes were now turning into trees around ten meters high.

He sighed and decided to take a rest. Who knew what would pop out next and when? He sat at the base of a tree and leaned on it. He did not even last five seconds before he felt the hair at the back of his neck rise.

He swallowed and raised his head to look above him. The hissing sound made it obvious though. He landed his eyes on a black serpent almost 40 centimeters wide. It was coiled around the tree from the top and was a meter above him.

He saw its tongue out and it was approaching him at a slow pace. Looking at its length, it could be fifty meters long. Its black skin had white spots and it's eyes were red and the pupils black.

Marx felt his soul leave him for a second and he quickly stood up and was back on his heels. The serpent was slowly uncoiling itself from the tree. He was glad that he was now almost thirty meters away from it.

But his joy turned to pain when he saw the snake slithering at a speed twice that of the red eyed creature. He was sure that there was no way out of this one.

He now understood why the crocodiles had given up on a meal. They would end up as meals if they dared get into these region. Marx saw the serpent going around him on the left. So it wanted to trap him.

Marx halted when he saw the head of the serpent. The serpent was raising its head two meters above the ground looking down on him. It did not attack him directly and slithered around him.

It then had him circled and stood infront of him. It hissed and Marx shivered. Just how intelligent was it that it knew about intimidation? He could not refute the fact that he was scared at the moment.

He saw the snake coil around him and entrapped him. He felt it squeeze the air out of him and break a few bones.

[01:05:59]

There was no way he would be saved by the clock. The snake which had been holding him with its tail lifted him and took him to its mouth. He really thought that he would die here until he heard the screech of an eagle coming at full speed above them.
