It's been three months since I got my job at Hogwarts since then I've had a lot of work to do before I could officially start. For 1 the Ministry kicked up a fuss about me teaching which surprised me as the public was quite excited to have me teaching at Hogwarts.
As it turned out Umbitch had found out that I didn't have any Masteries and was using that to try and damage Dumbledore's reputation and mine. That was quickly taken care of as I had Merlin's template it took me literally 2 days to do the exams for Masteries in Charms, Transfiguration, Alchemy, Ancient Runes, Enchanting & Warding, DADA, and Astronomy. Before I popped over to India where I got my mastery in healing and ended up as part of the Order of Healers. To put it into context the Order of Healers isn't an official governing body it is more like a certification of exilance, aside from me the only other person in the UK with the certificate is the Head Matron of St Mungo's. I also headed over to Bulgaria where I got my final mastery in the Dark Arts. After that, I went to Japan to get a Certificate of Combat Readiness which basically meant that I could kill or incapacitate with or without magic.
In the space of 2 days, I managed to slap the ministry in the face I also gave an interview with Rita Skeeter, and after threatening her with her being an unregistered animagus, I informed her that I am dissatisfied with the current ministry wasting my time getting papers that I didn't care about before showing her my certificate's and the dates on them to show that I had gotten all 11 of them in the last 2 days. This interview got printed word for word in the Daily Prophet and got the Ministry a lot of Howlers from the prominent Pure Blood Families about wasting the time of people who are both stronger and richer than the current ministry. A week later the Ministry printed an official apology and sent it to both me and the Prophet, since then I haven't heard back from them.
This incident also got me a chocolate frog card so it was worth it.
Another thing that happened was that my wand came back to life. Let me rephrase that me original was was made out of Hawthorn wood and a Phoenix tail feather. As it turned out the quality of my magic mixed with the flames of the Phoenix Force over time caused the wand to basically become an egg for the Phoenix Force.
Flashback
I'm currently in my room using my wand to arrange my belongings when I hear
CRACK
looking down at my hand that was on fire I said "FUCK FUCK FUCK"
Letting go of my wand and waving my hand around before I remembered fire can't harm me. Looking at the now burning wand I used my wandless magic to bring the burning wand towards me as it cracked open completely.
"Greetings Edward it's nice to finally speak to my host after all this time."
"Phoenix Force????"
"Yes, now where are we and why can't I feel my main conscious?"
"Umm instead of explaining it to you can you just look through my memories it will be quicker."
A few minutes later.
"I see you were reborn in this universe with a system that gives you the abilities of other fictional characters, which you have used to make your life easy?"
"Basically now that the 'plot' is about to start I figured that I might as well be at Hogwarts so that I can affect the outcome of the story."
"What outcome are you aiming for?"
"I intend to not do too much, to be honest. I will teach students and pick a few to pass my own magic onto and intervene when Harry's in 4th year so that old Moldyshorts won't be revived. Aside from that, I will live a nice and slow life."
" I see well host I wish you luck in your endeavors. However can I stay outside your body, I've got nothing against it but this is the first time I can travel alongside my host without being inside them?"
"I don't mind we can just say your my familiar. However, if you aren't in my body will I still retail your abilities?"
"Yes you will still have your abilities the only difference is that you will have to use your own magic to activate the abilities instead of relying on my energy."
"That's fine but I've got to give you a name to sell the fact you're my familiar. How about Jean a homage to your last host."
"Thank you Edward I'll go and explore our new domain," she said as she flew out the window
End Flashback
Dumbledore's impression upon seeing a white Phoenix in his office with Fawks that could talk telepathically was brilliant. I'm really glad that Jean gave me that memory.
He eventually called me to his office to ask about it and I lied saying that I had her from my time at Hogwarts but I told her to stay hidden as I didn't feel like I had the capabilities to protect her and that I had been with her so long that I had forgotten that it was so remarkable about having a Phoenix. Then he asked me why I always try and tempt Fawks to join if I already had a familiar bond with a White Phoenix to which I told him that mine was female and Fawks was male and it would be nice if Jean had kids.
Since then I've been using Merlin's old wand which it turns out was made based on the Elder wand that Dumbledore now holds the wand is also partially sentient which allows it to choose its wielder and return to it if the wand is lost or stolen.
The rest of the Professors and I were sitting at the head table as Professor McGonagall led in the class of '92. I can recognize all of the students after a quick sorting Professor Dumbledore stood up and said " I welcome all of you to Hogwarts for the year of 1992. I'd like to welcome Edward Reed as the Professor of Combat Magic and Magic Creation."
I stood up and bowed to the applause and cheers I received and sat down as he continued.
"Now for anyone who doesn't want to die a slow and painful death the third floor corridor is off limits, and Flinch has an updated list of Banned items. Now let's begin the feast. nitwit, blubber, oddment, tweak."
He sat down as the house elves delivered the food to us.
"Seafood Ramen," I said ordering something I hadn't managed to have since I went to Japan.
Babatha leaned over and said "Eddie what are you eating?"
"Seafood Ramen. Ramen is part of the staple diet of the Japanese not only is it a versatile dish that can be eaten with various toppings it is also healthy but most importantly, it is delicious." I said seriously
"Hmmm, Seafood Ramen please," she said as another bowl of Ramen appeared in front of her.
Slowly she started eating it with a fork "Huh it's rather good but a bit salty. I don't think it's as healthy as you made it out to be."
" No it is in Japan the magicals and non-magicals are required to have a certain level of fitness as long as you meet the criteria it has enough nutrients to be a healthy meal."
I said as I began to study the students in the hall with my mage sight.
"Well I'll be damned" I muttered under my breath.
2 of the student's cores were almost at the halfway point of becoming an Obscural and 1 of those 2 had an incomplete Horcrux attached to part of his Skull.
Contacting Jean via our telepathy I told her that I need an urgent meeting with him, the heads of houses, and the Healing Matron immediately after the feast.
Turning to look at him after I finished talking to Jean we made eye contact and I nodded.
A short time later Dumbledore, the 4 heads of house's, the healer and I were sitting in Dumbledore's office.
"Well, why are we all here Dumbledore? We have to prepare for our classes tomorrow." Said Snape chidly.
"Well I asked you all here to clarify something wrong with 2 of the new students," I said quietly.
"What's wrong with my students?" Asked Madam Pomfrey
"2 of them are partial Obscural's and 1 has an incomplete Horcrux attached to a fragment of his Skull," I said quietly gaining the attention of everyone in the room.
"Those are some heavy statements to make can you back it up with any evidence. After all I think you are merely a new teacher trying to make a big deal out of nothing." Said Snape
"Interesting you're meant to be a teacher and before you've even asked which students I'm talking about you already dismiss what I have said as a lie. If this is the quality of intelligence gathering you did for Dumbledore during the war it's clear why Dumbledore never managed to kill old Mouldyshorts." I said looking coldly at Snape.
"How dare you!!" Shouted Snape
"How dare I? How dare you. Professor Snape as a teacher it is our duty to look after our students but as a head of house you're paid to also protect them even from themselves. From what I've seen from your attitude you don't care about the welfare of your students."
I said coldly.
Before he could respond Dumbledore said "Enough!! Edward, please explain which students are almost Obscural's and which one is a Horcrux."
"Neville Longbottom and Harry Potter are Partial Obscural's and Harry Potter has an incomplete Horcrux attached to part of his Skull," I stated clearly
"And how are you so well versed in such dark and obscure things?" Asked Snape sarcastically.
"Second year after I graduated Hogwarts I came across a young Obscural in Romania about 5 years old. I stayed with him as he died. Later on I killed the people who abused him to that point, only to find out that one wouldn't stay dead as they'd created a Horcrux after killing the boys non-magical family. After destroying the Horcrux I decided to research both Obscurals and Horcrux's so that if I ever came across them I would be able to handle the situation better than I did."
"It sounds like you did the damn right thing Edward" said Professor Flitwick with a cold look in his eyes.
"Whether or not I did the right thing can be debated about later. Headmaster Dumbledore how are we going to deal with the situation with the 2 boys? If my word isn't good enough I'm sure that a once over from Madam Pomfrey will back up what I'm saying, especially as she now knows what to look for."
"Edward what about the Horcrux attached to young Harry's skull?" Asked Dumbledore
"That one's easy to deal with just ask Madam Pomfrey to cut out the section of the skull that contains the incomplete Horcrux and regrow it with some Skelegrow, then destroy the fragment," I stated
"But why is the Horcrux incomplete?" asked Dumbledore
"I'm not sure of the specifics of creating a Horcrux but one thing I do know is that when a Horcrux is made using a living vessel as the storage item the original soul will be destroyed and the soul in the Horcrux will take over like a parasite. As Harry is still Harry and I can see the soul attached to his scar the Horcrux ritual is incomplete." I said as I turned around to leave the room.
looking back I said "I can try to work with them to get over their hatred or fear of their magic over the course of the year, but if I were you I'd look into their home situation's as there's only so much that I can do here." before finally walking out of the room.
