Chereads / The Metamorphosis of Lou Ben / Chapter 22 - Gravity Tracer

Chapter 22 - Gravity Tracer

The training led by Wu Gen ended, and in the morning, Steward Wen Guoliang appeared in the middle of the arena with a dignified stance.

"You have done well in training. Starting today, the Xiao clan will rise."

"I will now be imparting cultivation methods and two dao paths."

"Everyone must not resist!"

Without giving a second to think, he acted.

Steward Wen Guoliang raised both his hands, palms facing the floor, and fingers facing the crowded band of brothers.

*Swoosh

A flood of information entered the minds of everyone, it was such a spectacle that it seemed as if countless stars had entered the mind of everyone.

It created a mental night sky, and if they focused in on one of the stars, large amounts of information would be recalled.

"This technique is called 'stary thoughts', a very simple and common technique that dao masters use."

"As you continue down the path of becoming a dao master, large amounts of information need to be memorized."

"This technique has a long history, during the age of the ten-thousand-year war, a certain cultivator relied on star constellations to retain memory. He used this to create the technique."

"As mortals, you have no idea about the ten-thousand-year war, nor do you have much information on constellations."

"Over time the stars will gather into images and that will help you retain further information."

"In regard to the ten-thousand-year war, all you need to know is that it caused the link between heaven and earth to be thinned."

Steward Wen Guoliang put down his hands, and placed them behind his back, he paced his figure from left to right, he started to instruct everyone on some more basics of the world of dao masters.

"I'm sure the book that I provided has informed you of the matter. It should do its job in saving me time discussing a trivial and dark moment in our history."

"The most unfortunate about this time period is that the link between heaven and earth has caused our lifetime to dwindle continuously."

"We dao masters originally were able to live for thousands of years, far surpassing the age of mortals."

"Today, the dao masters only expect to live for a few hundred."

"There are of course some exceptions, those who survived this heaven shattering war, outlived the new rising dao masters."

"For instance, I am one of those dao masters, having lived for almost two and a half thousand years. It may seem like a lot, but when your life expectancy is long, days simply feel like hours."

Steward Wen Guoliang continued his teachings, not giving time for the band of brothers to question. The information provided today was simply historical context that could not be gained from the book they received.

How could a book be more informed than a person who has survived the trials of history?

This day was the first in which Steward Wen Guoliang appeared to instruct the Xiao clan.

The days were simple, not yet undergoing the cultivation techniques provided, but instead gaining direct knowledge from a historic figure such as Steward Wen Guoliang. It allowed for these newly informed dao masters to understand the long history and conflicts.

Many thoughts would surge in the minds of the youth, but there was no time to directly soak it up.

Lou Ben thought of the first day Steward Wen Guoliang provided the technique 'stary thoughts' and how constellations would appear the more it used, it allowed his mental image to be stored and retained. He had the best experience out of his brothers, after all, he once lived on Earth and got to experience the constellations in the sky.

"I wonder if this world has different stars." He thought.

"Well, the one thing I can rely on today is my mind. This body might have gotten stronger, but compared to the people around me it is not too much of a change."

"I have lived a life on Earth, my thoughts are different and only slightly better than the average person. I can expect this 'stary thoughts' technique to be a good foundation for me."

This period of an information flood, given by Steward Wen Guoliang, lasted for two weeks.

It appears Steward Wen Guoliang enjoyed this the most, as he never stopped to catch his breath, and ended every session with "good, now go to sleep and I will continue again tomorrow."

Time once again flew by, the once servants started to miss the warmth of their partner and simple life. Although they were now walking down a separate path from their original life, it did not stop them from thinking of their beloved.

Steward Wen Guoliang sensed the gloomy air and ended his information flood early.

"Sigh. Today, we will begin training in using the power of dao that is within you…"

Steward Wen Guoliang waved his sleeve and a large pile of dark purple crystals gathered behind him.

"Everyone grab a few, this part will be very important."

Steward Wen Guoliang raised his own dark purple crystal and explained how to etch dao marks onto the crystal.

The crystal cried as it seemed Steward Wen Guoliang imprinted something on the surface, but as he showed the Xiao clan, there was not even a blemish.

"This technique is called 'inscribing' it is the act of implanting a technique. Search your minds, for the technique called 'gravity tracer'."

"You will notice a short passage of glyphs. The same way you learned how to read, you must relax your mind, and as you do this, a connection between you and the heavens will be started."

"Use this connection and wave your finger to trace the glyphs over the crystal."

Steward Wen Guoliang showed the Xiao clan once again the process of imprinting on a crystal.

The first day was silence, the second day was slight tremors, the third day short periods of cries appeared.

On the fourth day of practice, the Xiao clan was able to sustain the 'inscribing' technique for a longer period.

Eventually the first, second and third person held their dark crystal in the air and stood up.

"Steward Wen Guoliang, the technique is done!" the three brothers proclaimed.

Lou Ben, Wu Gen, and Liang Jianjun were the first to complete it.

"Good, now focus on the glyphs that you wrote on the crystal and push the energy inside the crystal. The moment you connect the technique from heaven to what is called earth energy, the technique will be activated and the crystal will crumble."

Lou Ben focused on the glyphs and did what Steward Wen Guoliang instructed, but the energy in his hand stood in place, like cement that dried.

He felt as if he was trying to break down the walls of a fortress by throwing pebbles.

"This is going to take some time."

Days passed and eventually the pebble-like feeling that Lou Ben experienced turned into boulders.

A week passed, and the boulder-like feeling turned into the feeling of a mountain!

Lou Ben wiped a bead of sweat off his forehead, swallowed his saliva, and pushed the outside energy inside the crystal.

*Woosh

The dark purple crystal burst as a dark and eerie lump of energy floated on top of Lou Ben's palm.

"This should be the technique 'gravity tracer' from what the information said, I should be able to point it at a person and have it follow underneath them."

"It's supposed to trace the unique trait of a person and the gravity they exert… as for what this unique trait or 'gravity' is, over time it should be known."

"Steward Wen Guoliang, told us in teaching techniques, the user must gain their own knowledge and experience of using each technique in order to raise its potential."

Lou Ben met eyes with Wu Gen and pointed his finger at him.

"Hey! What gives?" Wu Gen shouted.

"What does it feel like?" Lou Ben asked.

"There is no feeling, fool! It's a tracer, how would it be any useful if the person being tracked felt it?" Wu Gen pointed his finger at Lou Ben, as his own gravity tracer shot out.

"Haha!" Lou Ben tried catching it, but the dark energy of gravity tracer was transparent, it had no physical body.

"Interesting." Lou Ben rubbed his chin and thought.

Liang Jianjun stared at the two figures of Lou Ben and Wu Gen and let out a hearty laugh "Haha!"

The figure of Liang Jianjun was burly, and his hands were placed on his waist, supporting his large upper body as he inhaled the air and laughed again.

"Haha!"

"You two are so fiery! Quick tell me how you got to break through the wall so fast!" Liang Jianjun looked at Lou Ben and Wu Gen.

Lou Ben looked back at him "What do you mean so fast? We have been trying to do this for an entire week! It will only get easier the more we understand the technique and experience inscribing more."

Liang Jianjun looked at Wu Gen and he nodded back, affirming what Lou Ben said.

Still, Liang Jianjun was not fully understanding the technique, earlier he was able to break down the wall of the crystal and mix the glyph energy with the energy of the crystal inside, but when the two energies met the crystal broke and burned his hand instead.

"Oh, brother Liang Jianjun, Steward Wen Guoliang told us that each activation of our techniques have a small chance of failure." Wu Gen shook his head and told him.

Just before Steward Wen Guoliang gave the Xiao clan time to work on the gravity tracer technique, he told them of these small error, but also reminded them that the chance of failure gets smaller as they become more experienced with both inscribing and the techniques.
