Chereads / The Metamorphosis of Lou Ben / Chapter 23 - Dao Apprentice

Chapter 23 - Dao Apprentice

The Xiao clan took almost two weeks to complete their first process of inscription and performing gravity tracer. Steward Wen Guoliang took this time to refine the path of teaching he wanted to take.

Lou Ben focused on the stary thoughts technique and how it seemed there was no need to activate a crystal to make use of it.

Many further questions were starting to rise inside the mind of Lou Ben, he wondered if this technique used something else than the glyph energy, he was worried that the stary thoughts technique might have to take energy elsewhere and if it allowed others to see into these thoughts.

Those questions were natural but required deep understanding in the path of space. He had just begun; how can he begin to take down the root of an unfathomable power?

Although that is true, it did not detour him. The more questions he asked himself, the more interested he became, but unfortunately, there were a lot more questions than answers.

Steward Wen Guoliang saw that everyone had been able to perform gravity tracer and when he was satisfied with the results, he began his teachings once more.

"Now that you have all experienced the feeling of glyph energy and crystal energy to create a technique, I want to tell you more about these mysterious energies."

"First of all, the energy within the crystal is the energy of earth, I said this before but now I will also add, that the energy of the glyphs are that of heaven."

"When you combine these two you get the result of something like gravity tracer. I'm sure some of you wondered why is it that a dao master can do something like this but mortals, cannot?"

"The reason has to do with spirit. All beings are born with spirit, but a long time ago, there was a mutation in the spirit of man. This mutation was not harmful, nor did it affect the mortal body at first. Originally, it only allowed for mortals to sense the energies of heaven and earth."

"Many years after this mutation grew and grew. Eventually, the spirit of dao masters became what it is today. The mutation itself only allows us to sense heaven and earth, everything you do in cultivation is done by man."

"Finally, there is a common saying among dao masters, and that is 'although man can be spirit, spirit cannot be man' When I hear this now, I think of the profundities of heaven and earth, that heaven is heaven and earth is earth. We dao masters use heaven and earth but can not be anything else but heaven and earth."

"So, as we use techniques and crystals, we use not only the energies of heaven and earth, but also the energy that is bestowed upon us by heaven and earth. We act as a holder of energy and can manipulate it to intertwine."

Steward Wen Guoliang continued his speech and explained much about the world of dao masters, much of it the Xiao clan did not understand, but thanks to the technique stary thoughts the band of brothers was able to absorb this knowledge for now and take their time to understand it later.

"So today I want you all to at the very least understand that the energies of heaven and earth are everywhere."

"There are legends of those who have cultivated to the very peak and ascend into immortals who have their bodies tuned specifically to match heaven and earth."

"These legends also speak of our dantian evolving into small worlds to better cultivate the dao. Of course, this can not be seen today, because legends state that immortality went extinct during the time of the ten-thousand years war, perhaps even much sooner than we thought."

Steward Wen Guoliang lectured day and night, when he started his teachings there was no one who could interrupt, it was as if Steward Wen Guoliang had wished for this moment all his life.

He filled the shoes of a dao master and bestowed the title of dao apprentice to the entirety of Xiao clan.

Within time he looked forward to calling each one of the Xiao family members a dao master, but in his head, he knew, that having the ability to sense heaven and earth energies and becoming a true dao master are worlds apart.

Although the village he lived in comprised of dao masters and mortal slaves, dao masters took up only one percent of the entire world's population. If there was to be an immortal, then the ratio would be far less.

Nevertheless, it did not stop conflicts rising from this small population of the spiritually gifted.

The ten-thousand-year war was evidence enough, Steward Wen Guoliang made sure to etch this dark period of history into the Xiao clan, because the importance of history is to make use of it.

History can be a simple bedtime story to one person, but to another, history can be a harsh lesson to the keen observer.

Steward Wen Guoliang was trying his best to allow for the Xiao clan to see that heaven and earth displays its lessons in the most peculiar ways. Firstly, war, conflicts, then the trend of the world.

The Xiao clan became dazed because of this surge of information, if the first week was not enough to open their eyes of the world pursuing the title of 'dao master' then the harsh reality of life as a dao master was enough for them to understand that just because they shed their identity of mortal, does not mean they will live an easygoing life.

"The life of a dao master is hard, we watch as our families die of old age, we watch as the same mortals we held highly become slaves, we watch empires go to war."

Steward Wen Guoliang ended the eighth week of the Xiao clan's emergence, with an ode to be wary.

"Although you have all gained insight into being a dao master, it does not mean other dao master's will take your life and plunder your belongings. There will always be a stronger person."

In the following morning, Steward Wen Guoliang took the opportunity to talk about the space dao and certain the next important technique – Space sleeve.

"The space sleeve is a Xiao family staple. Throughout the years, Master Xiao, has done his best to keep this technique within the family. You all have inherited the blood of Master Xiao and are now able to use this technique. I am only allowed to use this technique to teach. It is such a technique, that if Master Xiao saw me use his own technique, he will not hesitate to separate my head from my body."

The Xiao clan gazed at each other and collectively thought "Steward Wen Guoliang is so strong, but Master Xiao would kill him in one move?"

"Our Master Xiao is truly unfathomable."

Lou Ben was not any different, he inwardly praised Master Xiao "I thought Steward Wen Guoliang was unfathomable, but to think that Master Xiao is an even more powerful being… really makes you think how lucky Wu Gen is to be his direct disciple." He looked at the yellow-gold hair youth in a new light.

"Wu Gen has the opportunity to learn the entirety of Master Xiao has lived through and will be nurtured to possibly inherit this palace."

Lou Ben felt slightly envious "If Wu Gen gets all that Master Xiao has to offer, then maybe my lucky fortune is some place else. I am already lucky enough to shed my life of a mortal."

"Maybe my happenstance in joining Xiao clan is enough to allow me to find my own path in this life…"

Lou Ben still wondered what he wanted to achieve in this life, what was his goal. Did he want to strive to be the strongest? No, that's too ordinary. Lou Ben wanted something that felt unique, something that made his dignity of someone who has been reborn feel that only they can amount to such a triumphant ambition.

Not long after Lou Ben arrived at the library, he found three books that combined to tell a story about a dao master searching for a crystal that can grant wishes.

"Maybe I will look into this more when I go home and see Qi Shuang again." Lou Ben pictured his beloved and the mysterious books he once glanced at.

"The ambition of attaining this crystal is good enough to be put into a book, why can I not also try to fill my empty life with such an ambition as well?" Lou Ben argued inwardly.

"Today, I am a dao apprentice, the next time I will be a dao master, by then maybe I will travel, or maybe I will stay here with my new brothers and beloved… sigh… in this new world there is truly no end for what can make my life complete."

Lou Ben spaced out while Steward Wen Guoliang was lecturing about the space sleeve and was not able to hear the instructions.

Although he did not hear it, he believed that after learning the first technique and process, he should be able to perform the space sleeve technique.

Unfortunately, the thoughts of man and the reality of earth are often opposite, and Lou Ben found himself in trouble.
