Lou Ben greeted his new master and received his job. He was going to be a simple broom servant, all this meant he was going to sweep. This was a simple job, one that was easy to accomplish.
As to the reason why someone would spend extra money on a broom servant instead of buying a regular mortal slave, it was beyond his current reasoning. He felt that this was a small matter and would reveal itself in due time.
There was no need to probe into something so small as this.
"The bathing servants will get you cleaned up and direct you on who to see next. I should not have seen you again for a long time. Just remember, if I need to speak to you then you have done something wrong." Master Xiao was punctual and got straight to the point.
He lifted his hand directed the bathing servants to Lou Ben.
It is worth mentioning that Lou Ben maintained his fresh off the battlefield look, with blood and grime filling his person.
"We have been tasked to take servant Lou Ben to freshen up and direct you towards the household steward."
The bath servants were quick with words not showing either happiness or disdain at Lou Ben.
"To be bathed by two ladies is young man's dream." Lou Ben thought inwardly as he was trying his best to conceal a smile that was forming underneath his ragged look.
The two servants showed Lou Ben to the bathing quarters.
On the way Lou Ben noticed the decadence of the of the building, it was as magnificent as a palace on earth. The flooring was made of heavy metal with long white pillars stretching towards the ceiling as if holding up the sky.
The palace was so large that Lou Ben was nearly lost walking forward and following the two servants.
It was a sight that the previous soul of Lou Ben never got to imagine in his wildest dreams.
"We are here servant Lou Ben." The taller female servant was blond and had a fair complexion.
The other servant was around average height and was no less of a beauty than the first.
She had dark black hair that floated over her shoulders as if the moon had a waterfall grazing the lands of earth.
Lou Ben was joyous and still trying to contain the excitement on his face as he thought "I wonder when I can have such beauties around me. It's a natural thought after all, I am only a man."
Lou Ben entered the fog door that was held by white pillars.
As he entered, he saw a grand bathing area.
The bathing pool was as large as a building on earth, with statues placed conveniently, and a center waterfall.
Above the waterfall lay a bright crystal that lit the entire room.
"This is not where servants bathe. Please hold your tongue as we continue to the bathing are for us servants." The blond servant spoke in a pleasant tone, one not too stern nor too soft.
Lou Ben walked along the perimeter of the decadent bathing pool towards the right side where a hallway emerged.
"Please take off your attire and hand it to servant Liann" The blond servant spoke as she gestured towards the dark hair colored servant.
After varying degrees of difficulty taking off the armor and tattered clothing that Lou Ben was once drenched in blood and grime, he finally alleviated himself.
"Walk forward and we will be with you shortly." Servant Liann looked at Lou Ben as expressionless as white paper.
Lou Ben was not surprised; he had seen this kind of attitude before. Not in this world but when he was on earth.
It was the look of a person who has resigned their fate to the river of time, those who no longer hold the thought to walk forward on their own.
He didn't blame them, if this was his first life he would probably fall into the same feelings.
Afterall, who can even imagine trying to walk their own path when the powers of the strong are mightier than those who have no strength to even hold a candle to light darkness in the night.
After much thought, this was the analogy that Lou Ben thought of, the people who came to gather mortal slaves at the merchant store was like night and day for people like him who don't know anything about the world of dao masters.
"Enter the servant pool. We will get the supplies." Servant Liann spoke as they made their getaway.
The servant bathing pool was much smaller than the decadent main pool. This pool was the size that can only hold a single person. It was still magnificent, but simply not as awe-inspiring as the main one.
"Even with the servant bathing pool, if this was on earth then only an extremely rich person would be able to call it a bath."
The pool was steaming, and Lou Ben was submerged in the pool waiting for his fellow servants to come and help him get this mess off.
"Servant Lou Ben, I am Steward Wen Guoliang." A man who was not too burly and not too lean appeared.
He was wearing white loose clothes that particularly embellished his average looking face to a certain degree. He also had long hair like Lou ben, but the two were a stark contrast of being refined and the other being torn like going through a machine.
Lou Ben stood up in ceremony not taking his chances of making a bad impression on the person in charge of the household and sternly spoke "servant Lou Ben greets steward Wen Guoliang!"
The naked figure bent and greeted the bright colored steward.
"The clothes I have for you will be what you wear for the remainder of your time here. They are simple as to not cause attention to yourself, but not simple enough to look down on master Xiao."
The steward was also another stern character.
Lou Ben heard this explanation and thought to himself "is everyone here dead inside? They speak so easily and so resolutely. Its as if inside their heart there is only black and white."
As he caught his thoughts, he also replied to the steward in front of him "Yes, steward Wen Guoliang!"
Lou Ben was very different from the people he has seen so far, the people in this world are either no laughing matter or devious and treat murder akin to sipping tea in the morning.
Regardless, it was easy to notice that strength was something only the elite are worthy of. It was the balance as power. One can is not an elite without power, the stronger and more powerful you were, the more noble you seemed.
Lou Ben got this much simply by recalling the inventory of master Xiao and his decadent palace.
The fairy servants were also something that swept the heart of Lou Ben and made this even more so clear.
He was after all inside the body of a youngster once again. If things were to change it would only be because of the strength in his soul.
It seemed like everyone around him was more aged, the fairy servants were in their young twenties, and this steward in front of him was middle aged.
This situation fit Lou Ben the best, because only those with years in life have enough experience to survive trial and tribulation. A feeling of confidence arose in the heart of Lou Ben as he reassessed this situation of tip toeing along the edge of the abyss.
"This crystal will wash your body. You will have to change into your clothes by yourself. When you are done you are to sweep the room that has been given to you, as you are to be accustomed to your living situation."
"Tomorrow, young servant Lou Ben will be escorted by myself, and you will also sweep the rooms after in an orderly matter. Do I make myself clear?" steward Wen Guoliang spoke with a burly tone.
"Yes, steward Wen Guoliang. Servant Lou Ben understands."
Steward Wen Guoliang held up a green crystal the size of his palm and it flashed across a bright green light across the body of Lou Ben.
It cleared the blood and grime off his body as if he had just been reborn.
"This is more of what I was expecting when stepping into a new world. What is more curious is why is a servant able to use those crystals? Didn't those devious dao masters say something about how there is a clear distinction between mortals and dao masters?"
"If that doesn't smell conspiracy, I don't know what doesn't."
Lou Ben was once again running away with his thoughts as he grabbed the white loose clothes from steward Wen Guoliang.
Steward Wen Guoliang seemingly felt this gnawing question and decided to alleviate the curiosity of Lou Ben "Only a dao master can be a steward. There are many households without stewards and because of this there are only so few servants."
Steward Wen Guoliang continued to say "In this world the heaviest fist makes right and the weakest palm makes wrong. I can only continue to live because of the benevolence of master Xiao. So please remember the magnitude of today. You were also saved by master Xiao."
"Whether you believe it or not is up to you. One thing is for certain, master xiao did not need to purchase you but allowed himself to purchase you, therefore saving your life from uncertainty."
Steward Wen Guoliang was full of praise for master Xiao, as if warning Lou Ben to know of the magnitude of today's actions, and how easy it was for master Xiao.
