Chereads / The Metamorphosis of Lou Ben / Chapter 4 - Pretty Little Rocks

Chapter 4 - Pretty Little Rocks

What Lou Ben imagined was not that there was some sort of thing as people who can control the way of heaven and earth, it was a far cry from what he knew all his life.

Shi Cheng was sneering once again "once these pretty little rocks interact with a dao master and are used up then they crumble into dust to be encircle the aura of heaven and earth again so that one day another crystal can be produced."

Shi Cheng was surely enjoying teaching this mortal the ways of dao masters, under the pretext of knowing that dao masters are severely leagues above average mortals.

"Mortals can not sense the laws of dao, nor can they interact with these laws. The best they can do is use already existing materials of heaven and earth to impede us."

"Like how you threw this jade slip and ruined our joyous explosion." Cai Niu bit his tongue in disdain at having to waste so many materials because of this mishap.

"That's right, this jade slip is made with the dao laws of information. You can hold these precious items but can never interact. It takes great courage to do what you did, so because of this I will thoroughly ensure you feel the might of us dao masters."

Shi Cheng was lamenting over a mortal that does not know the gravity of offending dao masters, so as his plan crumbled and eventually accomplishing his mission, he thought of a way to ensure Lou Ben understood just who he offended.

"Don't you worry boy, another dao master will take pity on you and also show you the might of dao masters and how lowly it is to be a helpless mortal. All you are good for is to be a plaything in front of the truly strong."

"Who knows, perhaps your master will find your looks to be alluring and will take you in comfort their bed! Haha!"

Shi Cheng and Cai Niu were laughing at what was in store for Lou Ben as the people who often bought mortals had a variety of kinks and reasons to buy slaves.

"I once had a mortal to shine my dagger after I murdered every descendant of his for offending me." Cai Niu was sneering as he recalled the disdain he held for mortals, especially those that did not know the gravity of heaven and earth.

Shi Cheng sneered "That's nothing, even an apprentice can do so. What is more intriguing is having those mortals truly in despair as they not only held the hope of surviving but soon realizing that it was all but a lie, ha-ha!"

"I once had a mortal kill his whole clan except his wife and children. I told him that after doing so I would let them go. He never imagined I would take advantage of his wife in front of him and feed his children to him."

"So after killing his cousins and ancestors, he held the belief I would leave everything in the past, as if water under the bridge, but little did he know that this bridge was high in heaven."

"Poor fool never had a chance to make amends, not even to his ancestors."

Cai Niu gasped in delight as if he had learned of such deviousness was aw-inspiring "Brother Shi Cheng is truly imaginative. How can I possibly compare myself to such intelligent methods?"

Cai Niu was truly amazed at his team leader Shi Cheng.

The latter was engulfed in an aura of confidence as he heard these words come from Cai Niu.

"Of course, it always comes down to how you manipulate mortals into doing what you want to accomplish."

"Boy, be happy that with you, all we are going to accomplish is the simple transaction of meager wealth to fill our pockets."

Shi Cheng was staring at Lou Ben who was tailing the two.

Lou Ben was now holding his head down not trying to make eye contact with the two.

"They can do such horrible things and still walk these plains. Oh, heaven what have you got me into?"

"I understand that these two people were willing to do heinous acts after being able to chow down on human meat, but their ferocious minds are simply too unimaginable."

Lou Ben was caught into another scene of surprise after another, it seemed like this life was going to be one full of surprises.

"Am I really going to be sold to people like this?"

He was now wondering about his situation, if it was not for the wonders of this world and the powers that these two had he would have long ago run away.

"How can I think of doing something when if I'm caught then who knows what they will do to me?"

Lou Ben knew these two dao masters were not something he could deal with; he didn't even know the first thing of what it means to be a dao master. It was a whole new world to him.

"Look boy, the village walls are just over this thicket of branches. We dao masters can harmonize with the way of the world to sense more than what meets the eyes."

Shi Cheng was sneering inwardly as if he was providing information that was worth the weight of gold.

Lou Ben raised his head to peak his sight onto what village would allow for these two murderers to walk freely.

In front of him was an even more surprising sight.

The 'village' if you want to call that was surrounded by walls that were the size of a mountain.

It was placed behind a large body of water; the village was more aptly resembling that of a city of sky scrapers when compared to the size and density of buildings.

What was more surprising was that buildings weren't too large, but instead floated along a river that ran across the sky.

There was floating bodies of lakes and floating buildings, this was nothing like that of what earth can accomplish. This was the workings of a whole new world to Lou Ben.

"This world can not get any more surprising, there is no way this is real. I must be dreaming." Lou Ben was staring at the pavilions floating in the sky as people hovered in the sky.

The mouth of Lou Ben was stretched across the floor in amazement.

"Come boy, there is no reason to be so surprised. Have you been living your life in the forests without seeing something so mediocre?" Shi Cheng was smirking at the fact that Lou Ben was surprised by something so mundane to him.

These sorts of reactions were normal to Lou Ben, but never did he imagine this to be mediocre to the two people in front of him. It really demonstrated the difference between himself and Shi Cheng.

"Kid, I'll tell you something for free!" Cai Niu was going to entertain the boy Lou Ben as Shi Cheng had already opened the discussion to do so.

"You would have never found this place in a million years if we did not drag you along with us. We can sense the aura of dao and sense this place from miles away. Mortals such as your can only be lost in the bewilderment aura that surrounds this place."

Cai Niu held his held high as if teaching this mortal Lou Ben was worth it because the entertaining thing about it was that Lou Ben was displaying such ridiculous faces of awe.

It seemed to inflate the border between dao masters and mortals, it felt good to teach this mortal of how comparatively different the two parties were.

"Lets get going, we have many things to do. We can't keep gawking at the border, we need to hand in our mission to the sect and sell this mortal." Shi Cheng, the leader, finally spoke.

The party of three approached the gate and were met by two city guards that both wore loose clothing.

The city guards seemed stern, and their clothes shined with the colors of white and blue as if trying to encompass the sight of the sky.

"Halt, pay the entrance fee or leave. This is no place to stand around and gawk at our magnificence."

Shi Cheng was the first to respond as the leader of this party "Two dao masters and one slave to sell."

The city guard who held his head high gazed below his nose and saw the two dao masters covered in dark robes and Lou Ben who was tattered from the battlefield.

"Two normal entree payments and one slave for sell. The total cost to enter is now five aura stones."

Shi Cheng reached into his sack that was wrapped around his waist to take out five stones that seemed almost as ordinary as pebbles. They were round and just the right size to be throwing stones along a water surface, perfect in size and perfect in roundness.

The city guard who was dressed so elegantly grabbed the five stones and lifted his arm as to allow the party to enter the large and magnificent 'village'.
