"Grandma! You scared the life out of us!" Serena exclaimed the moment she saw her sitting up in the hospital bed, smiling.
Grandma chuckled softly, opening her arms wide. "I gave myself a scare as well, my dear. Now, come here and give your old grandma a hug. It's the best medicine."
Without hesitation, Serena quickly walked over to the older woman and hugged her lightly, feeling as if she'd lost a lot of weight suddenly. She was almost tempted to hug the older woman tightly so that she would be assured that she really was fine, but Serena refrained knowing she could hurt grandma.
However, Grandma seemed to sense her weakness as she lightly patted her cheek and then said," Come here, sit beside me."You're trembling. You look more frightened than I feel."
Serena managed a weak smile as she settled into the chair. "It's just… we were so worried." Serena's voice faltered, her emotions catching up with her.
