Chapter 9 - Teachings

As the rays of sunlight seep into my brown eyes, I close my eyes from the bright light.

I press my hands against my ribs trying to feel if, any pain was still there. I feel a slight discomfort in my sides, but its something I can walk off.

I look toward my dad, who is just chilling on the side of a tree relaxed as ever.

'jeez if I were him i'd comfort his own son, after breaking his ribs'

I turn my view to the tree that I crashed into, which had a slight ridge when I walk to the side of it. a few splinters point out from the intensity of my body crashing into it earlier.

I walk to the bag that my dad had carried, which was full of snacks, water, and a book? I grab the book which had an all-black cover, with a strap closing it tightly.

I feel the sides of the papers which make it feel like it's old, the sensitive papers feel ancient. As if it was taken from a museum, I put the book back in the bag as I grab some snacks from inside a smaller opening in the bag.

I feel for some snacks, or drinks and I give myself a satisfied smile as I grab hold of a plastic texture, with a plastic baggy-like sound as I grasp it.

I look at the plastic bag, as I grab a small apple from inside. I then hold it over my mouth as I bite into it.

'So good! Apples are the best'

The flavor's seep into my mouth as the textures greet my mouth, like a warm embrace.

The water from the apple seeps around my tounge as the flavor dissapears I swallow.

***

After eating I walk over to my dad, who starts to adjust his glasses ever so slightly. I walk straightforward toward him as I look at him I ask.

"Dad can you teach me how to...fight?"

He looks at me surprised, but a light of opportunity flashes in his eyes.

"So son, you wanna learn how to fight huh? After I punched you once and you lost the sparring match? Sure"

I look at him with enthusiasm as I wait for him to explain how to attack, defend, counter, and confuse enemies.

He explains the basics...like when you punch dont strain your muscles too much or the force will injure your arm, and muscles.

And to always keep your hands up when getting attacked, also to study the movements of your opponent. If they slip up once make use of their mistake by abusing the opportunity to counter attack.

Then he finishes with one final thing "Dont ever let yourself get hit, if you cant block it dodge. And if you cant dodge try to hit them with a punch, aiming at thier strike to equal out the force."

It was a very odd main teaching from him, but I had nothing else to learn from.

'well I guess that concludes his quote on quote training I guess'
