Chapter 7 - 7. The Teacher's Plan

Hearing Aidan's words, everyone in the class froze in

shock. It was obvious that they were reminded of Aidan's stunning performance in

French the day before. No, it's impossible! His math certainly can't be as good as his

French! Or so everyone told themselves.

Dennis Harvey sighed to himself. He knew Aidan was not ill and wanted him to succeed.

Although his results in the entrance exam had been poor, Mr. Harvey believed that Aidan

could still turn his life around for the better.

That was why he had arranged for Viola, who had good grades in school, to sit beside

him, to see whether she could change him. When Mr. Harvey heard about Aidan's

outstanding performance in French yesterday, he thought he had become a prodigy. He

hadn't expected him to still be so useless.

Feeling a great sense of disappointment, his tone was colder as he said, Please be more

serious during class, and don't let me see you sleeping again. Oh, okay, Aidan replied

lazily. In his tiredness, he said to himself, What a joke! I have already learned all of the

content for the entire semester, so why should I still listen to your lessons? In that

mindset, Aidan had fallen asleep again before Mr. Harvey had even taken a few steps

back to his desk.

A melodious snoring once again echoed through the room. An obedient daughter and

model student since she was young, Viola had never seen such a disrespectful student

before. However, she found him funny and could not help but let out a giggle.

Her laughter was enchanting, like a rippling stream, and the surrounding male students

appeared captivated. Close by, Alan fumed with anger and jealousy. How could someone

who only knew how to sleep make Viola laugh? He failed to understand that a person

would find anything that their crush did enchanting, whether sleeping, studying, or

washing the dishes.

The more Alan thought about it, the angrier he became. Blazing with fury, Alan strode

over to Aidan, grabbed his collar, and lifted him from his seat. You bastard! Get out of

this seat, do you hear me? As if a hornet's nest had been poked, the entire classroom

erupted into an uproar.

Well done! I've never liked Aidan! Hey bro, we're with you! A group of male students

clapped loudly. Some students felt that the commotion was too disrespectful and wanted

to stop it. They realized their own insignificance, however, as they were drowned out in

waves of sound.

Alan, stop! Viola scolded him with a sullen expression, but her protection of Aidan only

made Alan even more jealous as he began to exert more strength in his grip. At nearly

six feet, Alan effortlessly lifted Aidan into the air like a little chick. By this point, Aidan

was beyond annoyed, but he just wanted to have a good sleep.

But someone kept waking him up. Having always been someone who wakes up in a bad

temper, he opened his eyes and looked coldly at the face in front of him. Alan stared at

him with bloodshot eyes and warned, Aidan, from today onwards, know your place!

You're out of your league, do you understand? Let go, Aidan said indifferently.

I won't stop until you admit you're worthless! However, Aidan said nothing and simply

looked silently at Alan.

Detected the host staring at others. Imposing aura, plus one. Current progress, one out

of ten.

Current level, beginner. Suddenly, Aiden started emitting an intimidating aura. The

atmosphere became tense.

Someone who had been in a high position for a long time could easily intimidate anyone

by using their presence and aura without the need to speak. At the moment, Alan

suddenly felt that Aiden, who was standing before him, had become tall and imposing.

His dark eyes seemed to be hiding a deep and endless storm within them.

The only other person in front of whom he felt so intimidated was his own father. Alan's

heart skipped a beat as his hands weakened. He let go of Aiden and uttered a

subconscious cry.

Dad?

A rather strange silence fell. No one would have

expected Alan to suddenly utter such shocking words.

Everyone froze for a few seconds before regaining their senses. Just now, did Alan call

Aiden his father? If my hearing didn't fail me, I'm pretty sure he just did. Maybe Aiden

actually looks like Alan's father.

Unbelievable! Alan seemed to have awoken from a vivid dream. Seeing the strange

expressions of the surrounding students, his entire face instantly flushed with crimson.

Damn it! Having been told off by his father recently, he believed that he must have been

hallucinating.

To think that he had been made to look stupid by this idiot Aiden in front of the entire

class! He was utterly disgraced. Angry from embarrassment, Alan clenched his fists and

was about to punch Aiden. Haven't you guys had enough yet? Just then, an angry shout

filled with vigor resounded from the podium.

It was Dennis Harvey, who could not bear the ruckus caused by his students any longer.

Mediocre as he was, he was nevertheless a teacher and one with decades of experience

as a homeroom teacher. Though he appeared to be a patient person, he was simply too

lazy to get angry.

Now that he saw these two kids messing up his lessons, he couldn't hold himself back

any longer. Seeing his fury, all the students felt as if a sudden bolt of lightning had hit

them. They were shocked, and Alan too stopped this punch midway, taken aback by his

teacher's rage.

At this moment, the students finally faced and understood the wrath of their homeroom

teacher, and despite his own fury, even Alan was forced to show him some respect. Both

of you, get the hell back to your seats! Despite Mr. Harvey's war, Alan still shot a

menacing glare at Aiden before unwillingly returning to his seat. Aiden did not dare

continue to do what he wanted either, as he sat back down and pretended to pick up his

textbook.

Unfortunately, Mr. Harvey did not intend to let them go so easily. He looked at the

classroom clock and said sternly, Allow me to present you two with a special gift. Since

you both have so much energy, I suppose you can help your teacher with a small favor.

We'll see whether you still have the energy to cause a ruckus then. Mr. Harvey sneered

with malice and took out two pieces of paper from the book, both of which were densely

covered with small symbols and numbers. This is the test paper for the county high

school mathematics competition.

He continued, As long as you solve this problem, you will be able to represent the school

in the competition organized by the county next month. Seeing their baffled faces, he

explained, This competition is held annually and gathers the math elites from each

school in the county. Ever since Otis High School was founded, we have never won the

main prize.

If one of you manages to win the award, you will bring fame to the school. Only older

students are meant to take part, but I have high hopes for you two geniuses, so I'll make

an exception for you. Mr. Harvey handed a piece of paper each to Aiden and Allen.

Of course, none of this is the main point. He smiled wryly. If you manage to resolve this

rather irritating matter, then we will let bygones be bygones.

However, if you refuse to do so, then I will simply use my role as your homeroom teacher

to make sure you never forget that you messed up my class. When the time comes,

don't blame me if you happen to see a small blot on your student records. At that

moment, Aiden and Allen felt shivers down their spines.

A student's record was the most important thing for any student. A bad report on it

would be a burden for the rest of their life. It would bring them nothing but trouble in the

future.

Using their student records to threaten them, he caused them both to revert to their

obedient selves. Dennis Harvey was not just for show. He really did have the power to

back his words up.

In the end, Dennis Harvey only gave them a single day to

complete the sheet of questions. It was to be handed back in during the next math class

on the following day. For now, he continued to teach the rest of his lessons for the day.
