Chapter 7 - Reunion

Despite being able to drive a car without issues, Bryce was still visibly below the legal age for driving so any sight of police would mean turn back and dash off. Not to mention, he might have already had a bounty on his head. Also, driving around in a police car could make him noticeable as well. Which meant he should be ready to walk on foot anytime.

'Gosh, how much time have I wasted already? Hope that bastard doesn't end up leaving after waiting so long. I didn't even get to know when was supposed to be the right time to meet up.'

Cursed again, he did. Nevertheless, he wanted to beat the shit out of Eric and made him spil out where he hid his dough. Good thing he brought some weaponry along inside the car. That would also mean he must avoid be summoned over by the police, at all cost. He had to lockpick a carwash and spend a couple of minute repainting the car. Then he hit the road as if nothing happened.

While driving, his mind was filled with all kinds of things to do to Eric to crack his pretentous shell open. The days of working under his management weren't pleasant, but thanks to being used to the job he performed better and better. Yet, the asshole decided that using him as a bait he and the others could escape the watchful eyes of the police.

He always wore a condescending face too. That prick always gave Bryce a hard time. Proving my worth was the toughest thing ever. Had it not been for the books, I'd have failed to have Lily taken to a hospital. Having broken free from the shackles of prison, he would make Eric pay no matter what.

And then, after reclaiming what was rightfully his, he would dash off instantly to Miss Lily. He would find a good doctor that could cure her and the two of them would live happily ever after. Of course he would have to take a legal job but it would be worthwhile as much as Lily was by his side.

Seeing that he almost arrived at the meet-up location, Bryce chuckled to himself, eager to spit on the face of his despicable ex-boss. He parked the car meters away from the abadoned factory. With a closer look, the place looked like a dead iron turtled rusted severly as it aged. Regardless, an abandoned place was always somewhere ideal for gathering and trading alike.

Bryce tried to find the best way to sneak pass through all the guards. He first distracted the two guys guarding the entrance with the help of a spare communicator. After using the recorded sounds to trick them, he simply walked in without being noticed. Next, he climbed onto an iron pillar to get access to the full view thus navigating around more easily and efficiently.

Crawling slowly on the ceiling, he looked around only to see no sight of Eric. Frowning, he continued on his path. Perhaps the meet-up place was at the back of the factory. It was supposedly spacey there and convenient to ensure that... no one hid anything in the dark. Bryce however did not intend to face his old boss as someone hiding. He had brought along flashbangs in case of emergencies. Finally, he just had to pass through a door to see his boss waiting for his beloved double agent. But it would turn out to by Bryce himself, back from the death.

...

A middle-aged man was sitting on a plastic chair while being surrounded by his loyal henchmen. At the moment, someone he knew was expected to come. Yet, they seem to take a bit too long. As he was Eric - the leader of a gang running a drug-selling conpany, his patience ran dry, expecting a proper explanation if his partner did arrived at least.

In the past, he used to have a brat who worked under his management for two years straight. Thought not given a big role, that kid still did good. Initially, Eric let him keep that position due to seeing some talent in him. However, only after a long time did he realize the rumors coming from members of other gang. They all talked about how there was a young lad who brought twice the income his boss could manage for the distribution. Even the men under his control were starting to question his seat as the leader.

From that, he decide to finally get rid of the thread that had been close to him all along. His name was... Bryce. About one month prior, he asked the help of his double agent to deal with him. Thus, in a heist, his hiding spot during the mission was leaked to the police. That brat ended up as the only one captured while the others escaped. Eric felt great pleasure from watching the naive child restrained by the police. Their eyes met and Eric looked at him mockingly, laughing in his mind.

Since then, everything had gone back on the right track. Eric being respected by his men and the goons from the other gangs, as it should always be.

"Heh... Good thing I cut that brat off. I can't stand anyone being better than me, especially one under my wing." His chuckled to himself, drowned in the fame and fortune he was always obsessed about.

When suddenly...

He heard the sound of a metal door opening. Then, under the night sky he saw someone approaching a center of the backyard. They had a familiar figure, it was something he... actually anticipated.

"Well, well, well... If it wasn't lil... Bryce. How have you been doing? Did you eat well? I was worried sick-"

"Shut your yaps, geezer. I only came for business's sake." His eyes sharpened, filled with resenment as he saw the familiar man.

"Business? I'm afraid we'll have to meet a differen-"

"How the hell did you think I learn of this place? Guessing?" Bryce spoke sacarstically.

"That's bad, then I guess I should send you back home. Men!" Eric clapped his hand, signaling an attack.

Bryce immediately used a flashbang to blind everyone else. All except for him were stunned for a bit.

"All of you! Find him! I want him on the ground beneath me for the next five minutes." Screamed the angry Eric.

The henchmen spread out from the area and searched the corners, unti some of them were taken down by gunshot. All of them fixated their attention on the container that Bryce was hiding behind.

"He's behind that container! Get him boys!"

"Move! Move! Move!"

However, to their surprise, the blonde lad was no where to be seen behind the large container. The men exchanged glances then one of them turned to Eric.

"Boss, should we search behind the door." Asked the confused henchman.

"No need, in no way he would run off like that, not after coming here acting all confident." Eric spoke calmly, purposedly displaying his level-headed self.

Indeed he was right. Bryce was still in the area, hidden among one of his men in fact. He vowed to come prepared after all, so that he could enjoy the aftermath of making Eric pay for taking away a month straight of one-sided quality times... along with money too.

Another think that flashbang helped him notice how muc of a sly fox Eric was. He even had a snipper hidden in a corner to identify who would be the impostor. Cheap trick, nothing but a cheap trick to Bryce. Although, he came up with a way to squeeze the fun out of it.

He secretly threw marbles on the ground near the boss without him realizing. First, a guy who came up to Eric to report and one accident would be viewed as suspicious and...

"Ah!"

The poor guy felt on the ground next to Eric. As expected, he tried to unmask them but instantly frowned after realizing it was the wrong guy. Mistake after mistake, the sniper kept shooting at the wrong guy. There were still a few patrolling about, confused as to why the dudes were lying down next to their boss. Bryce then decided to take out the sniper without anyone realizing. He approached the sniper shot silently with his noise-reduced pistol but suddenly...

Someone hit with with a taser from behind, stunning him. Bryce felt off to the ground as he became pratically powerless. The one with the taser dragged his body to his boss. Seeing that the fish had taken the bair nicely, Eric chuckled. He felt self assured as ever.

"Look how the tables have turned, Bryce. Oh wait, nothing has changed. You've always been below me, if not way lower." Eric teasingly mocked the blonde for his defeat.

"Ugh..."

"I'm still amazed that you managed to escaped from the prison. Hat's off to the lad with wits. Though... you should've stayed there. It was for your sake... and mine as well." Heu folded his arm.

"Damn asshole, you messed up my schedule, took away my freedom and my spoil." He grunted. "I'll make you pay for sure."

"Huh! Throwing a tantrum instead of admitting defeat, I see. You are truly persistent."

"Not as much as that mouth always dipped in dirt is. No wonder they look golden." Bryce grinned weakly.

"How dare you badmouth-"

"Pff!"

"Stop laughing!" Eric stomped on his face.

"Bet your feet are stink too."

"Grrrrrr~!!!"

Eric was struggling to calm himself while Bryce enjoyed every second of it. It truly rubbed badly on his ego that was in fact as fragile as a wine bottle. But then, the boss remembered something that allowed him to stay calm. Despite the visible angst again the child rumored to be much more brilliant than Eric could ever be. He thought to himself that arguing with a child wasn't something cool to do. Hence he ceased the angst.

"Now that we're here, let me remind you of your place, brat!" He noticed something. "Oh, you have an untreated wound and still survived? Let me see your endurance."

Eric proceed to flip Bryce's body over and pressed the tip of his shoe forcefully on the wound on his torso still not mended. He felt a raging sense of pain on his body at the sadistic display of a gang leader. Eric's tendencies to belittle others knew no bounds, he knew it all. Yet, to be reminded of the old scars once more.

"Ahahaha! I could never get tired of toying with you. Maybe I shouldn't have thrown you into prison after all. Can't let them have all the fun."
