Rosalie and Gabriel spent a couple of hours in the garage as she eagerly showed him the changes she had made to her pet project. The atmosphere in the room was warm and inviting as they got lost in their own world.

Though there was some subtle flirtation within the mix, both were still too nervous to take it an extra step. Gabriel hesitated, not wanting to rush something so new and foreign to him, and Rosalie held back because of her aversion to the forced mate bond and her history.

Eventually, they left the garage, and Rosalie guided Gabriel to her room. The walls displayed a soft, almost eggshell color. A table sat in the right corner, next to a large floor-to-ceiling window. Gabriel's eyes drifted around the room until they landed on her bed, a plush canopy bed with purple bed sheets sprawled across it. It really captured the aura of nobility that Rosalie exuded in her life.

"Damn, this is way nicer than my room," Gabriel said as he walked in. "Mine almost looks like some type of hotel room. It's so bland. Maybe I should get your mom to come redesign the house." Turning toward Rosalie, he smiled.

Hearing his words, she took a step forward, closing the distance between them. "You know, she's taught me a lot. Maybe I could have a look one day and give you my thoughts?" Her impossible-to-blush face held a tinge of allure when she said those words.

Taking a deep breath to calm himself, Gabriel merely nodded, trying to calm his beating heart.

'Even if I said I would take it slow... How the fuck can I resist being attracted to her? She was already supposedly verging on vampire beauty before she turned. Now? She's just cheating!' he screamed out in his mind, trying to calm down his hormones.

They both sat down on the bed in silence, though it was nothing uncomfortable for the duo. It felt more like the peaceful silence you had with someone you were comfortable with.

"Gabe," her voice an imperceptible whisper in the already quiet room. "You know I like you, right?" Her head was looking at the floor.

'Oh... we're not playing games. This is nice.'

"Pretty sure we both like one another, Rose," he said in the most gentle voice he could. "But I know we're both hiding some things. I'm sure you can tell sometimes, right? We both have secrets." Gabriel would not act like a child. They were both real, and their emotions didn't deserve to be played around with.

"Mmm," she hummed in agreement.

Letting the words sink in, Gabriel continued. "If we were to spend more time together, to figure out this relationship, I'd like to take it slow."

He had spent a week getting to know her, along with Bella and the rest of the Cullens. Each was holding onto something damaging from their past that was obvious to see once they got to know one another. He didn't want to enter a relationship and start trauma dumping on someone. It would hurt both of them in the long run.

As an avid fan of the series, he also understood that Bella and Edward had possibly one of the most toxic relationships possible, forcing each other to either compromise or completely ignoring the other's opinion. It wasn't healthy.

Rosalie raised her head, slowly looking into Gabriel's eyes. She seemed to be drawn into those pools of molten sunlight. At this moment, he looked like a godsend to her. Her worries about revealing her past and the secrets she held seemed to melt away. They hadn't even begun dating, and he was already trying to comfort her.

"You know... you act like someone way older than you are." Her smile radiated out as she brushed the hair that had fallen.

Laughing loudly, Gabriel couldn't help but agree. "I once heard a saying, and I think it's pretty good. 'Secrets, secrets are no fun. Secrets, secrets hurt someone.'"

Laughing loudly, she suddenly stood up, grasping Gabriel's hand and pulling him along with her. As they stood face to face, she quickly took him into a hug. Her face nestled on his broad chest as her arms wrapped around his waist. Befuddled at the intimacy, Gabriel quickly adjusted and wrapped his arms around her.

They held each other in silence, Gabriel's warmth radiating toward Rosalie's body as she closed her eyes in contentment.

"How about we go out tomorrow night?" he whispered in her ear. "Just you and me. I'll pick you up around six and we'll find somewhere nice."

Rosalie's body shivered as she lifted her head to look up at his face. "Please. I'd love that."

Rosalie and Gabriel spent most of the day in her bedroom, talking about their passions and interests. He learned she loved engineering, business, and medicine. Medicine because she hoped to understand more of what her father did, but the business and engineering because she eventually wished to move somewhere and open her own mechanics business.

They both stood at the front door, once again intertwined in a loving hug. "You'd better send me a couple more chapters tonight," she said, her face holding a stern but almost cheerful look.

"I guess I have to. I don't want your big and mean brother to come and kick my ass for bullying his sister, right?" A mischievous grin spread across his face.

"Damn right. He's like a rabid dog. Don't mess with him." She chuckled.

As she said those words, the front door opened. Both turned to see the smiling faces of Emmett and Jasmine looking at them.

"Dude, I leave for one day and you're trying to hook up with my sister? I thought we were bros!" Emmett faked a sad face as he wiped away an imaginary tear. Jasmine, seeing this, slapped the back of his head. "Shut up, you big idiot."

Being blindsided, Gabriel quickly let go of Rosalie and rushed to his car. Even though he was acting confident with her, this was actually his first relationship. Of course, being caught out like that would embarrass him.

Entering the car, he heard Emmett yell from the front door, "TRAITOR!" as he laughed out loud.

Turning on the ignition, Gabriel quickly drove away from the Cullen house, a larger-than-life smile plastered on his face.

Having taken a shower, Gabriel sat himself in front of the PC and began typing away at the book. He had almost completed it in its entirety. Now all he had to do was make some edits, fixing any inconsistencies that he noticed. Though it was a world-class book, every author makes mistakes. So he tried his best to fix the ones that were glaring at him.

He had already sent half of the book to Rosalie, so he wouldn't be hearing from her for the rest of the night, at least if she didn't use her vampire reading speed.

'The question that's truly on my mind is if I should get rid of the three stupid vampires that are feeding around Forks. I could either do it before the Cullens have their baseball game, or I could do it when they finally appear with the Cullens. At that point, I would have to reveal myself to them, anyway.'

Gabriel thrummed his finger on his desk, deep in thought. This had eventually become a tick of his when he was trying to make plans or stuck on a question.

'Maybe I should just wait and see how the date tomorrow goes with Rose. It's not like she wouldn't have to tell me about her being a vampire if she wanted to date me. Future Gabe's problem, confirmed.'

Turning off the PC, he took a warm shower as he enjoyed the water cascading down his body. It had been a long and fruitful day and all he wanted now was to head to bed.
