Chapter 3 - How it all began (||)

Lucian means light, and he chose a name that complemented it, which happened to be Brian, meaning noble. You're my noble light, darling," an unknown voice said, her footsteps drawing closer.

Feeling alarmed, I immediately turned around and saw a woman who bore an uncanny resemblance to my mum from both my childhood memories and the portraits Dad had in the basement.

"Mum, is that you?" I finally asked.

"Who else would I be, dear?" she replied.

Overcome with hope, I rushed toward the woman and hugged her, tears in my eyes. "Where were you all this time?" I asked, my voice cracked and low.

"I've always been by your side. You just didn't notice. It's been so long, hasn't it, dear?" she replied, her voice shaking with emotion.

Our heartfelt reunion was disrupted by a familiar voice—Marie Anne's. "Get away from him!" she shouted, causing us to pull apart.

"What?" I replied, shocked by Marie Anne's sudden appearance.

The woman turned to Marie Anne. "What nonsense are you trying to pull? Is this what you've been telling him during my absence?"

"Aunt Marie Anne, what do you mean?" I asked, feeling both enraged and curious, but still respecting her enough to listen.

Marie Anne answered with a warning. "Lucian, run as fast as possible! This woman is dangerous!"

The woman smirked and approached Marie Anne. "What nonsense!" she said, flicking her finger, sending Marie Anne flying and hitting the wall before falling to the ground.

I was shocked by what I saw but soon snapped out of it and ran toward Marie Anne to help her. Marie Anne, with her curly brown hair and brown eyes, began to stand up. "I'm fine. That was barely enough to harm me," she said.

"I am getting jealous, love. How could you leave your mother for another woman? Come back here, my little prince," the woman said.

Immediately, I found myself moving back to her side, unable to resist her command.

"Lucian!" Marie Anne shouted.

At that moment, I felt many emotions, especially fear, shock, and most importantly, rage. "What did you do to me?" I yelled.

"This is just the beginning, dear," the woman said coldly.

Marie Anne, fully recovered, stood up and blasted the woman with a huge beam of bluish flames. The woman smirked, raising her hand to create a shimmering shield of energy that deflected the flames effortlessly.

Marie Anne launched another powerful blast, but the woman deflected it just as easily, the energy dissipating harmlessly. Marie Anne's face tightened with determination as she attacked again and again, her magic growing more intense with each strike. But the woman deflected every blast, her expression showing only amusement.

"Nathan could have done better than you," the woman taunted, her voice dripping with disdain.

"You're wasting your time," the woman said, flicking her wrist. A wave of dark, swirling energy radiated from her hand, aimed directly at Marie Anne. Just as it was about to hit her, Nathan, with his smooth, gorgeous blonde hair and blue eyes, appeared, effortlessly deflecting the attack with one finger, all while maintaining an elegant demeanor and a pose with his right hand behind his back.

I looked at the man and could see the resemblance between him and my dad, but I was surprised because my dad had long black hair, just like me. I asked the man, "Dad, is that you?"

Nathan replied, "Yes, son."

Marie Anne, still recovering from the earlier attack, looked up at Nathan with relief. "You finally came," she managed to say, smiling before fainting.

Nathan caught Marie Anne before saying, "Lucian, take care of your mum."

I replied, "Ok, Dad."

Nathan left Marie Anne with me and walked toward the woman.

The woman turned to face Nathan, her expression shifting from smugness to shock before quickly reverting back to normal. "Guess you're here for the party, but we're no longer giving out invites," she said arrogantly as she created a gigantic orb of dark swirling energy. The man replied, "It's obviously a family reunion, Natalie," as he smirked and created a golden, formless, wild flame.

Natalie replied, "You've got nerve calling that woman my son's mother," referring to when Nathan called Marie Anne Lucian's mother.

Nathan asked, "She is his mother, is she not?"

Natalie then retorted, "If you're trying to flirt with me, it's not working."

Nathan smirked and said, "Don't worry, I'm over your type."

Natalie laughed hysterically. "Even if you try to make me angry, it won't work because you aren't my target."

I asked my dad, "Is that crazy person really my mum?"

Nathan sighed and said, "Unfortunately, she is and also my past mistake."

Natalie's face contorted with rage. "As I said, you aren't my target."

She then sends the now massive orb of dark energy hurtling toward me.

Nathan shouted, "Are you crazy? No, I know the answer to that already" He said

"What's wrong with you?!"He asked again rephrasing the question

Nathan sends his light powers toward me, trying to pull me away, but his powers collided with her dark magic and was absorbed. A portal suddenly appears sucking me in and my vision of them darkening with the last thing I hear being the conversation going on between my dad and my so-called mother

Nathan shouted, "Don't tell me you sent him to…"

Natalie continued, "Yes, I sent him to the Other Realm."
