Chapter 13 - A Training With An Accident

The next day.

Satoru woke up in his bed, feeling groggy and disoriented despite having had a good night's sleep.

He blinked several times, trying to clear the fog from his mind. "Ugh... What happened...?" he mumbled, his voice still thick with sleep.

"You fainted. That's what happened," came Janne's voice from beside him, calm and matter-of-fact.

"Janne?! Why are you in my room again?" Satoru exclaimed, sitting up abruptly, which only made his head spin more.

"Aren't you going to ask who brought you here?" she retorted, arching an eyebrow at him.

"Uh... well, you could've left after bringing me in," he countered, rubbing his temples to ease the dizziness.

"Don't tell me what to do. This is my house. I'll do as I please," Janne replied, crossing her arms and pouted, looking slightly annoyed.

"Alright, alright, I'll listen to you," Satoru conceded, his tone resigned. He glanced around the room, noticing the tidy state and the faint smell of breakfast wafting in from the kitchen downstairs.

Janne smiled, finding his exasperated expression amusing. "Alright, enough teasing. How are you feeling now?" she asked, her voice softening.

"Much better, just a bit dizzy," Satoru replied, stretching slightly and feeling the stiffness in his muscles.

"And your body? Any pain or soreness?" she asked, concern in her voice as she leaned closer to inspect him.

"Hmm... I think I'm fine. My legs feel a lot better," Satoru replied, testing his legs by moving them slightly.

"Good. Then we can continue our training from yesterday," Janne said, a hint of determination in her voice. She straightened up and looked at him expectantly.

"Ah? That's not necessary," Satoru protested, worry creeping into his tone as he seemed to be remembered the intense training session from the day before.

"Hehe, where's your mind going? I mean actual strength training this time. The boxing was just a lesson," Janne clarified with a mischievous smile.

She placed a hand on her hip and looked at him with a twinkle in her eye, clearly enjoying his discomfort.

Satoru sighed, realizing there was no way out of this. "Alright, alright. I'll trust you," he said, shaking his head slightly.

He swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood up, still feeling a bit unsteady.

Janne watched him closely, ready to catch him if he wavered. "Good. Let's start with some light stretching to get your muscles warmed up," she suggested, already moving towards the center of the room to demonstrate.

Satoru followed her lead, trying to focus on the exercises and not the lingering embarrassment from fainting the day before.

As they moved through the stretches, he couldn't help but feel grateful for Janne's persistence, even if it was a bit harsh at times.

Janne suddenly laughed, turning her head to look at Satoru. "Do you really think you fainted from the training? You don't remember what actually happened?"

"Uh... no, I really don't remember," Satoru admitted, looking confused.

"Well... maybe I didn't control my strength properly," Janne said with a mischievous grin. "I knocked you out with one punch yesterday."

Her words hung in the air, and Satoru's face flushed with a mix of embarrassment and shame.

He had been knocked out by Janne's punch—that was even more humiliating than fainting from the training.

He sighed inwardly, recognizing the gap in strength between him and both Janne and Yuki.

Their power was the result of natural talent and relentless training. He vowed silently to himself that one day he would match them.

With renewed determination, Satoru looked at Janne, his eyes filled with resolve.

"I'm ready. Let's start the training.Push me until I'm exhausted. I don't care if I pass out again; I just want to get stronger."

Janne sighed, feeling a mix of frustration and concern.

She couldn't understand why Satoru was so driven to the point of recklessness. His stubbornness worried her.

"That's not happening," she replied firmly.

"You need to take care of your body. Pushing yourself too hard will only backfire in the long run."

Satoru's shoulders slumped slightly, but he knew she was right. "Alright, I'll follow your lead," he said, trying to hide his disappointment.

"Good," Janne said, her tone softening. "We'll start with a proper training regimen that focuses on building your strength gradually. No more overexertion."

As they began the exercises, Janne guided Satoru through each movement, correcting his form and ensuring he didn't push himself too far.

Despite her earlier frustration, she felt a protective instinct towards him.

Watching his determination, she couldn't help but feel a grudging respect for his resolve.

The morning sun filtered through the window, casting a warm glow over them as they worked together, each step bringing Satoru closer to his goal.

"Alright, now the real training begins," Janne announced, her voice filled with enthusiasm.

Satoru nodded, signaling his readiness. "Bring it on," his eyes seemed to say.

"Hmm, let me think..." Janne mused, lightly tapping her finger against her lips in a thoughtful pose.

The sight of her in such a whimsical stance made Satoru chuckle inwardly.

Despite her seemingly carefree demeanor, this girl was now his official personal fitness trainer.

"Let's start with some weighted push-ups," she finally decided.

Satoru nodded again and got into position, lying face down on the floor and preparing for the exercise.

He wondered what she would use as a weight when he suddenly felt a pressure on his back.

Turning his head slightly, he saw Janne had perched herself on his back, her playful grin making the situation feel oddly lighthearted and intimating despite the challenge.

"Alright, start with ten reps," Janne instructed, her voice now serious.

Satoru took a deep breath and began the push-ups.

Each time he pushed against the ground, he felt the additional weight of Janne making the exercise significantly harder.

His arms strained, but he kept his form steady, focusing on each movement.

"Good job, Satoru. Keep it steady," Janne encouraged, her tone supportive but firm.

By the time he reached the tenth push-up, Satoru's arms were trembling with the effort.

He lowered himself to the floor, panting heavily. Janne slid off his back and stood beside him, offering a hand to help him up.

"That was tough," Satoru admitted, taking her hand and standing up.

"That's the point," Janne replied with a grin. "You want to get stronger, right? Well, this is how we do it. Gradually, with effort and consistency."

Satoru nodded, appreciating her approach. Despite the initial challenge, he felt a sense of accomplishment. "What's next?" he asked, ready for more.

Janne's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Next, we work on your core. Planks, with a twist."

As they continued the training, Satoru found himself pushed to his limits but also discovering new strengths within himself.

Janne's guidance, a blend of strictness and encouragement, was exactly what he needed.

The morning passed in a blur of exercises, each one designed to build his endurance and power.

When they finally finished, Satoru lay on the floor, drenched in sweat but feeling a sense of fulfillment.

Janne handed him a towel, her smile now warm and approving.

"Great job today, Satoru. Remember, it's not just about pushing hard. It's about pushing smart. Consistency will get you where you want to be."

Satoru sat up, wiping his face with the towel. "Thanks, Janne. I appreciate it."

She nodded, her eyes meeting his with a mix of pride and determination. "Let's keep this up. You've got a long way to go, but I believe in you."

With those words, Satoru felt a renewed sense of purpose. He knew the path ahead would be challenging, but with Janne by his side, he felt ready to face whatever came his way.

Satoru shook his hands, trying to alleviate the soreness in his biceps and chest.

In the next moment, a thought seemed to strike him, and he looked at Janne with a contemplative expression.

"By the way, Janne, after that training, I feel like you might be a bit..." he began, but before he could finish, Janne's sharp gaze stopped him in his tracks.

"Don't you dare say I'm heavy! If you say it, I won't talk to you for the rest of the day," Janne warned, her eyes narrowing.

Satoru was taken aback. Were his thoughts really that transparent?

First Yuki, and now Janne – both had cut him off before he could finish his sentence, and both had known exactly what he was about to say.

Seeing Satoru's bewildered expression, Janne felt a pang of frustration.

She pouted, looking at him with a mixture of irritation and hurt.

Did he really think she was that heavy? She started to second-guess herself.

Standing at 1.68 meters (around 5'6") and weighing 52 kilograms, she considered herself within a normal range.

Maybe it was just that Satoru was too weak, and that's why he felt she was a bit heavy. She convinced herself with what she thought was a fair enough explanation.

Janne reassured herself with this thought, her confidence slowly rebuilding as she glanced back at Satoru, a spark of regained self-assurance in her eyes.

Satoru, noticing the shift in Janne's demeanor, quickly understood why she acted like that and tried to steer the conversation away from the sensitive topic.

"No, no, that's not what I meant at all. I was just impressed by how much you can push me to my limits," he said, hoping to mollify her.

Janne's expression softened slightly, though she still eyed him skeptically. "Really? Because it sounded like you were about to say something else."

Satoru raised his hands in a placating gesture. "I promise, I wasn't going to say anything bad. You're an amazing trainer, and I'm grateful for your help."

Janne's pout transformed into a small, satisfied smile. "Alright, I'll let it slide this time. But remember, respect your trainer or suffer the consequences," she teased, giving him a playful punch on the arm.

Satoru chuckled, feeling the tension dissipate. "Got it. No more complaints from me."

They stood there for a moment, the earlier awkwardness fading away.

The bond between them, forged through mutual respect and shared goals, felt stronger. Satoru knew that with Janne's guidance, he was on the right path. And Janne, seeing Satoru's determination, felt a renewed sense of purpose in helping him achieve his goals.
