Chapter 16 - An Encounter With Yuki

Days blurred into an indistinct flow of time as Satoru gradually opened his weary eyes, his expression one of mild exhaustion.

He had been enduring Janne's intense training regimen, which had notably improved his magical abilities and physical endurance.

But today, he felt drained. He wanted to visit the Celestial Atrium in Astralsya to unwind, perhaps even train with Yuki at the Kendo club.

Entering his bathroom for a quick wash, Satoru looked at his reflection in the mirror. There was a sense of both familiarity and alienation.

The face staring back at him was that of a handsome young man with black hair.

His bangs framed his face perfectly, not too long and not too short.

His face was lean, with a defined jawline free of any excess flesh.

His newly transformed visage was one he found quite satisfactory, devoid of the nerdy and overworked aura he once had.

Descending the stairs, Satoru was greeted by the nostalgic scent of freshly baked bread.

It was the loaf he had received from Yuki during a casual stroll in Astralsya a few days prior.

He still felt grateful for Yuki's generosity, although he couldn't fathom why she had given him the bread in the first place.

But for someone like Yuki, with her vast and wealthy family, a loaf of bread was likely just a trivial gift.

"Finally decided to use that loaf? It's been sitting here for days," Satoru remarked, his voice tinged with mild curiosity.

"Yeah, just felt like making a sandwich today," Janne replied, her tone casual.

In truth, Janne had delayed using the bread because she knew it was a gift from Yuki.

She couldn't quite understand why Yuki seemed so interested in Satoru.

They had only known each other for about a week.

Yet, Yuki, an imperial princess with a busy schedule, had taken the time to stroll through Astralsya with Satoru and even gifted him a loaf of bread at that day.

Janne couldn't help but wonder about Satoru's significance to Yuki.

For someone who had only known him for a week, Yuki's actions seemed unusually close and considerate.

Satoru sat down at the kitchen table, savoring the aroma of the freshly made sandwich.

Janne joined him, her eyes scrutinizing him with a mix of curiosity and concern.

"So, what's your plan for today?" Janne asked, breaking the silence.

"I was thinking of heading to the Celestial Atrium. Maybe relax a bit, and if I feel up to it, I'll visit the Kendo club and train with Yuki," Satoru replied between bites.

Janne nodded, her expression contemplative. "Just don't overdo it. You've been pushing yourself pretty hard lately."

"I know," Satoru said, smiling softly. "But I feel like I need to keep improving. There's so much more I want to learn and achieve."

Janne sighed, her concern evident. "Just promise me you'll take it easy, okay? Don't push yourself to the point of exhaustion again."

Satoru reached out, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze. "I promise."

With breakfast finished, Satoru gathered his things and prepared to leave.

Janne watched him with a mixture of pride, annoyance, resignation and apprehension.

Despite her complicated feelings, she silently hoping that he would find balance in his relentless pursuit of strength and mastery.

As he stepped out into the world, the fresh morning air filled his lungs, invigorating his spirit.

Satoru felt a renewed sense of determination. Today was another step in his journey, and he was ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

.....

Upon arriving in Astralsya, Satoru wandered aimlessly, admiring the various landscapes and taking in the vibrant atmosphere.

It was an experience he had rarely indulged in during his previous life, which had been weighed down by relentless work.

Perhaps occasional relaxation was beneficial, he mused.

Why had his former self been so foolish, neglecting to truly live? Thankfully, in this new world, he had been granted another chance to experience life fully.

As he strolled past a blacksmith shop, he stopped, captivated by the array of samurai swords displayed inside. He felt a pang of excitement.

He had always been a fan of samurai culture and had a deep interest in these exquisite blades.

Unfortunately, his previous life had not afforded him the opportunity to explore this passion.

Perhaps this was one of the reasons he had joined the Kendo club.

"Interested in the swords?" A cool, melodic female voice interrupted his thoughts.

A waft of fragrance accompanied the voice, momentarily enchanting him.

Turning to see who it was, Satoru was surprised to find Yuki standing there.

"Yeah, I was considering buying one, but that's a thought for later. I don't have a single coin to my name right now," he admitted with a sheepish smile.

Yuki pondered for a moment, her gaze fixed on the swords.

"Leave this to me," she declared.

"Uh, that's not really necessary," Satoru replied, feeling a bit uneasy.

"No, it is. I'm a long-standing Kendo champion. Are you questioning my judgment?" she replied, her tone icy yet with a hint of playfulness.

"No, of course not. But still..."

"No buts. As your club president, it's my responsibility to handle this. You can trust me with it," Yuki insisted.

"Alright. I really owe you a lot. I'm not sure how I can ever repay you," Satoru said, a mix of gratitude and embarrassment coloring his words.

"Hmm... Your presence is the best repayment. You must know your importance to me," Yuki said, her aloof demeanor softening just slightly.

"You're my personal disciple, my only friend in Astralsya, and my desk mate in the Celestial Atrium."

Feeling a profound sense of gratitude and connection, Satoru nodded, a warm smile spreading across his face.

He had found not just a mentor and a friend, but a sense of belonging in this new world.

As they continued their stroll, Satoru felt a renewed determination to live fully and cherish the bonds he was forming.

The two of them continued strolling through the bustling streets.

"By the way, Yuki, I've learned magic," Satoru said, breaking the comfortable silence between them.

"Really? Magic is notoriously difficult to learn without proper instruction. Did someone teach you?" Yuki inquired, her curiosity piqued.

"Um… you could say that," Satoru replied, hesitating slightly. "But she can't meet with others due to some personal reasons."

Yuki raised an eyebrow, intrigued by his vague explanation. "That's quite mysterious. What kind of magic have you learned?"

Satoru thought back to his training with Janne, the intense sessions and the surprising results.

"I've learned to channel my mana and even cast a few spells. It's still new to me, but I'm making progress."

Yuki nodded thoughtfully. "That's impressive, Satoru. Magic can be a powerful asset, especially combined with your physical training."

As they walked, they passed various shops and stalls, each offering a different glimpse into the vibrant life of Astralsya.

The sounds of vendors calling out their wares, children laughing, and the general hum of activity filled the air.

"So, this mysterious teacher of yours… is she also the reason behind your sudden improvements in strength and agility?" Yuki asked, her tone casual but her eyes sharp.

Satoru chuckled nervously. "Yeah, you could say she's a tough trainer. She doesn't go easy on me."

Yuki remained composure, yet her gaze softening.

"I'm glad you're finding ways to improve yourself, Satoru. Just remember not to push yourself too hard. It's important to know your limits."

Satoru nodded, appreciating her concern. "I'll keep that in mind. Thanks, Yuki."

They continued their leisurely walk, the conversation flowing naturally between them.

Satoru felt a deep sense of contentment, grateful for Yuki's friendship and support.

Despite the challenges and mysteries of this new world, he felt ready to face them head-on, with friends like Yuki by his side.

"Let's go to the kendo club. I want to see what you've gained during your absence these past few days," Yuki suggested with a slight smile.

"Alright," Satoru replied, matching her rare enthusiatism.

The two made their way through the bustling streets of Astralsya, weaving through the crowds and taking in the lively atmosphere.

The Celestial Atrium loomed ahead, its grandeur a testament to its importance in the city.

As they approached, the students and staff bustling about took notice of Yuki and Satoru.

Inside the Celestial Atrium, the kendo club members were practicing diligently.

When they saw their esteemed president, Yuki, entering with Satoru, their expressions shifted from concentration to surprise.

Whispers spread among them, and a few of Yuki's admirers couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy seeing her with someone who seemed like an ordinary student.

Pushing open the door to Yuki's private room, Satoru followed her inside.

The room was cozy, filled with books and personal belongings that spoke of Yuki's time spent here.

"Let's head to the back garden. It's more spacious there," Yuki suggested.

"Ah? This room has a back garden?" Satoru asked, his curiosity piqued.

"Yes, I often plant flowers and tend to them there. Since I spend a lot of time in the Celestial Atrium, I wanted to make it feel more alive," Yuki explained, a hint of pride in her voice.

"Let's not waste any time. Come on," she added, picking up a book from the bookshelf. Suddenly, the wall behind them rumbled and shifted.

"Ah? There's a secret passage to the garden?" Satoru exclaimed, astonished.

"This... well, it's a little quirk of one of my subordinates. She thought it was cool and begged me to incorporate it. I couldn't say no," Yuki replied with a rare hint of amusement in her voice.

As the wall fully opened, revealing a hidden pathway, they stepped into the lush and vibrant garden.

The sunlight filtered through the trees, casting dappled shadows on the ground. Flowers of various colors bloomed around them, creating a serene and enchanting atmosphere.

Satoru couldn't help but be impressed by the beauty of the garden, a stark contrast to the intense training he was used to.

He took a deep breath, feeling a sense of calm wash over him.

"Alright, let's see what you've learned," Yuki said, her eyes gleaming with anticipation.
