"What the fuck is this?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. The words tumbled out of my mouth, a mix of shock and incredulity. Tau's expression remained serene, his eyes locked onto mine with an unnerving intensity.

"This, Sam, is the list of cheats available to you," he said, his voice measured and deliberate. Then, as if remembering something, he hurriedly added, "And you can only choose one."

I felt a surge of frustration mixed with confusion. "I know that, and I can see it's just...why am I seeing this? It's as if I'm reading a book, and the author chose to show me that they're planning my future." I shook my head, trying to clear the cobwebs.

Tau's expression didn't change, but a hint of understanding crept into his eyes. "Well, that is another way to use Existence, and it works. We've ended up accepting it as a norm. And before you jump to conclusions, Existence can do much more than just what you understand. Beyond your control, there are places where the life of an individual is saved because of Existence subtly manipulating the probabilities to bring about an outcome."

I raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite myself. "What do you mean?"

Tau leaned forward, his eyes sparkling with intensity. "Take luck, for instance. A major increase is dangerous for you and those around you, but what if, at critical moments, your luck increased dramatically, then reverted back to normal?"

I felt a shiver run down my spine as I grasped the implications. "I mean, it would seem that I'm just lucky, and my life wouldn't be easy."

Tau nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "Exactly. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Existence can manipulate so much more, from the probability of events to the very fabric of reality itself."

I felt my mind reeling as I tried to comprehend the sheer scope of Tau's words. "But why? Why would Existence do that?"

Tau's expression turned serious. "Because, Sam, due to the database we found ways to use Existence to ensure our survival and growth without suffering too much backlash from the reality we transferred to. And sometimes, that means subtly manipulating the odds to bring about a desired outcome."

"This is just one of the precautions that we embed on the individual," Tau explained, his voice measured and deliberate. He paused, collecting his thoughts before continuing. "Stopping the terror-induced manipulation of Existence that may lead to reverting you back to the start, or more appropriately named the Stone Age by some."

I felt a shiver run down my spine as I grasped the implications. "You mean, if someone were to suddenly gain immense power or wealth, it could be catastrophic?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.

Tau nodded, his eyes serious. "Exactly. Just as it's difficult for a poor person to cope with sudden wealth, it would become even harder, a hell difficultly tier, if the rich suddenly became dirt poor." He emphasized the point, his words dripping with gravity. "The balance of Existence would be disrupted, causing unforeseen consequences that could have far-reaching effects."

I thought about it for a moment, trying to wrap my head around the concept. "So, you're saying that you would embed my Existence with a way to o

be self-regulating, to prevent such disasters from occurring?" I asked, seeking clarification.

Tau nodded again. "Yes, that's correct. Existence has a way of maintaining balance, of ensuring that individuals don't become too powerful or too weak as it would be unreasonable for an ant to suddenly kill a strong person without a price and it would have to be appropriate as just being weak is relative to them as well. It's a delicate dance, one that requires careful navigation." He paused, studying me intently. "And that's where the cheats come in, to help individuals navigate this dance and avoid the pitfalls that come with sudden changes in their circumstances."

"that is just one of the reasons that some things that feel like having plotholes in novels in one perspective on another it's just a minor tip in the scales, and not to burst your bubble but just because the scales are tipped does not mean that it will be easy, it just means that the difficulty would be upped sometimes making a smooth journey into a long and difficult tale that just for the final reward turns out to just be a common weapon that only finds its use in late stages."

I shook my head, trying to process everything. "I don't know if I can handle this," I said, feeling overwhelmed.

Tau's expression softened. "You don't have to handle it alone, Sam. That's why the pack was created. To guide you, to help you navigate the complexities of Existence by providing aid in the simplest and even mildly appropriate manner that doesn't destroy and bring about backlash from the reality."
