Chapter 13 - Chapter 13- Fatima’s Warning

"When is your wedding?" One of the ladies asked.

Lara, preoccupied with her food, did not notice the question until Fatima, who was seated beside her, nudged her and whispered the question again.

Knowing that they were not up to any good, Lara decided to downplay it and say they hadn't decided yet and that she would send them all invites we no they finally did.

The ladies looked at each other displeased with her lack of enthusiasm and giving out information.

Lara snarled within and bit into an Apple happily. Most of the ladies here wished to be in her place and marry Lucas instead but they can't.

For this reason, they internally hated her but showed huge smiles on her face.

Seeing the looks on their faces, she felt a bit nauseated and excused herself; she slowly walked into the restroom and locked herself in one of the cubicles.

She opened her purse and fished out her phone, she just happened to see a notification appear on her phone the moment she opened it.

She clicked on it, and the only game On her phone opened. She noticed she had dropped from the rankings and became mad.

If there's one thing that hasn't changed in her two lifetimes, then it is her love for this game.

In her past life, the company that owned this game had declared bankruptcy and was about to close down, but she had ingested a large amount of cash, which resulted in its survival.

She took out her earphones and soon started playing; unknown to her, an entire hour had passed. The ladies didn't care and were happier with her absence.

Miss Kanu leaned in closer to Amira and asked her how she could stand Lara for so long.

Putting on a grieved look, Amira put her hands on her lap.

"You girls misunderstood her, she's …..just..." She said.

Acting as if she was trying to make an excuse for a dear one but couldn't find the words to defend that person.

"look at how cold she was to you, not even sparing a sentence to you" another lady cut in, her despise of Lara clearly shown on her face.

The other ladies present all said words of affirmation and supported the hate against Lara.

Amira who was now quiet, bowed her face. The other ladies seeing this just added to their disgust for Lara.

What no one except one noticed was the satisfied smile on Amira's face because it was only there was a split second, and she now had her earlier face full of grievance.

In the cubicle, Lara had played to her heart's content and had taken her place at the ranking again.

She closed the app and realized that she had been in there for more than an hour.

She carefully packed her bag and went out of the cubicle and back to the meeting area only to find it deserted, and the waiter informed her that the ladies had left about 5 minutes ago.

Originally not caring about the meeting, Lara was happy about that and quickly entered the elevator and pressed for the underground parking lot.

Lara now in a good mood, swung her bag excitedly as she walked towards where her car was packed.

Seeing her from a distance, the driver quickly got into the car and started it.

Lara soon reached the car and was about to open the car door, when a delicate hand pressed the door closed back.

She was taken aback, but when she raised her head, she saw Fatima staring at her. She croaked an eyebrow as if asking what was the problem.

"Careful who you call a friend". She said and immediately walked off not waiting for a response.

Lara looked at the retreating back of the elegant young lady for a few minutes and entered the car.

She told the driver to drive home and to relax again. This was her first time today riding in this car and she was planning to ask her dad to give this car for her personal use.

Lara was about to be taken to dreamland in the cozy backseat when Fatima's words rang in her head.

Fatima had given her many similar warnings in her previous life, but, being the fool she was, she had confided in Amira those words.

This has resulted in her alienating this lady with a good intention for her. She remembered slowly but surely, Fatima had been alienated by all the other socialites and had become a one-man lady.

But that wasn't a bad thing as it was better to have no friends at all than to be surrounded by such hypocritical friends.

What was horrible was when Fatima's family got into trouble, Lara could've easily solved it but didn't, as she still despised her at the time.

Fatima's family had gone bankrupt, her father was arrested for tax evasion, and her mother just happened to be diagnosed with cancer at the time.

To get money for her mother's treatment, she has found all sought of odd jobs, and being banned by Amira at the time didn't help.

The poor girl had ended up loaning money from a loan shark but arrived late and her mother passed away.

Unfortunately, she was robbed of all her money,y and when the Don asked for his money when the time was u, p she didn't have any way to even pay half of it.

She then went into hiding but was soon caught, she was then captured and sold into a prostitution den.

The prostitution den was uncovered when she committed suicide by jumping off the window of the building she was kept in.

Thus the end to what should've been a beautiful life.

Lara shook her head in pain and decided to help this young lady not to fall into the same fate as before.

Lara turned to observe the scenery as she was driven past lost in her thought.

Suddenly she remembered how all those ladies had left her behind.

"Truly have nerves"

She smirked and thought that ever since she introduced Amira to the circle she seemed to have taken the leader position.

She must remind all those young ladies who the real leader of their circle was.

But first and foremost she had to prepare for her date with Lucas tonight.
