When Lara arrived home she was greeted by a maid who informed her that she had received three parcels and that it was placed in her room.
Lara thanked the maid and headed to her room, wondering what that parcel was about. She wasn't worried, though. As long as the parcel made it into her room, then it was safe.
When she entered the room, she saw a large gift box and two small ones placed on her bed; she put her purse down, unwrapped the box, and got dazzled by a dark shade of red.
In the box was a red dress; when she took the dress out, she saw that it was knee length with a slight from her mid-thigh. It had a sweetheart neckline, and its material was quite soft.
Looking at the dress, it was her size, and quite beautiful; she liked it at first sight.
She took the dress and was planning to immediately go try it on when she noticed a card in the box.
" Hope you like it. I'll pick you up at 7.
Lucas."
Simple and straightforward, no questions asked.
Lara looked at the card and admired the beautiful penmanship. She must admit Lucas is a charmer.
Turning to the remaining two boxes she could easily guess their contents.
She randomly took one and opened it to see a metallic silver heel, those kinds that wrap halfway to the knee. She tested the heels and it was her exact size and fit her perfectly. Her toes were covered but transparent; overall, it was pretty chic.
She removed the heels and opened the last box, and as expected, there lay a purse that matched her heels.
She then noticed another box inside this one and opened it, this time she was really surprised.
Inside the smaller box was an arm ring, a silver one which was quite simple, there was also a pair of small earrings in the same color.
"Wow, even I'm impressed and I'm not the one being flattered"
Lara turned around to see Kiera leaning on her door, wrapped in a robe and holding a cup of steamy drink.
Normally, Kiera tried to avoid being alone with Lara as much as possible, but recently, Lara's attitude had changed towards her, so she decided that it wouldn't be that bad to try and be close to her again.
Lara felt a blush creep up on her cheeks and she couldn't help but give a broad smile.
"Why are you home this early?" Lara asked trying to change the subject.
Kiera might have gotten married at 19, but she was still a career-oriented woman; after marriage, she used the dowry her husband gave her to start her own entertainment company, and now, 10 years in, it was firmly rooted in the industry.
Her company might have a few competitors here and there, but as long as they didn't personally attack her company,ny she was all good with them.
On rare occasions where some had personally attacked her, and she had tried but was still at the losing end, she didn't shy away from using her position as Mrs. Brown to suppress them.
So seeing her at home at 1 pm on a Tuesday was quite rare.
"Cramps," she said, her hands subconsciously caressing her stomach.
"Oh," Lara said, understanding her point.
"Date night or just an impulsive gift spree?" Kiera asked gesturing at the things on the bed.
" Date night at 7 " Lara replied bashfully.
"Need help? Getting ready that is?" Kiera asked in between sips of her drink.
"Sure thing" she replied and flashed Kiera a smile.
"I'll advise you to have lunch now, and by 4, you start getting ready," Kiera said and left the room.
Lara smiled and went to the dining and had lunch. She then chose to have a nap and set an alarm for 4 pm.
At exactly 4, an alarm woke Lara up, and she immediately got up to take a shower; having washed her hair earlier that day, her shower lasted a short time.
When Lara came out of the bathroom, she was shocked by the large number of unknown products sprayed out on her bed.
She turned to the vanity to see Kiera seated there with a small smile on her face.
"Let's start now, shall we ?" Kiera said, and by the time she knew it, she was already seated on the vanity.
About half an hour later, her hair was done. Lara had initially wanted to straighten her hair, but Kiera advised that it was better to let her embrace her natural curls as she looked beautiful in them.
So they just ended up putting more Mousse to increase her hair volume and let it naturally fall behind her.
Next was makeup. Having sensitive skin, Lara opted for just a red lipstick and mascara.
When they were done, it was already 5:30, meaning that they still had about an hour and a half before Lucas came to pick her up.
"you should wait till like 20 mins before 7 to wear the dress," Kiera suggested.
Lara just nodded her head and observed Kiera's excited look. If she didn't know better she would have thought that Kiera was the one that had a date and not her.
Or maybe Kiera's daughter was going out on her first date. But thinking about it, In some way she is Kiera's daughter.
Kiera left Lara for a minute and came back with snacks.
"Kiera, I'm going out for dinner in less than two hours," Lara said, chuckling.
"Rule no, never go out with a man on an empty stomach," Kiera replied in a deadpan manner.
"Rule no1? Is there a rule, no?" She asked teasingly whilst taking the snacks from Kiera.
"Rule no2, never go out with a man, without money. At least make sure that you have enough to bolt out of there and back home or nearest police station immediately.
"Thanks," Lara said and hugged Kiera; Kiera was beyond shocked and took a deep breath to calm her nerves before hugging Lara back.
"And Kiera, I'm so sorry about before," Lara apologized, and the next thing Kiera fainted.
