Chapter 19 - Chapter 18

Ezekiel

After one more enjoyable moment with Kiyara, we decided to head downstairs. Just in time, Mark was done with his conversation with Ariel and Bella, who was now typing something on her phone.

"I think it's time for you to leave now; it's quite late," Kiyara said while looking at the floor. She does that when she feels shy or embarrassed, or she looks around.

"But I want to stay with you," I said, tucking a loose hair behind her ear.

"Ezekiel, you need to go," this time she looked at me and I smiled.

"Are you worried that I might continue?" I whispered in her ear and she immediately responded.

"No."

"Come on, it's late," Mark said, putting his hand around my shoulder. I gave him a cool look and he removed his hand from my shoulder. I kissed Kiyara's forehead and said,

"Goodbye, oxygen ."

"Goodbye, soul," she whispered and put on her charming smile.

I went out with Mark and entered my Lamborghini.

"To be honest, I never knew you would fall in love with her," Mark said in a serious tone.

"Me too, I tried my best to forget her but everything I think of is her, so I fell in love, and now I think I'm captivated," I said while looking at the window. Mark chuckled.

"No wonder I saw cameras," I looked at him and smiled.

The next morning, I woke up ready to surprise Kiyara on her birthday, which is coming soon, and by soon, I mean the day after tomorrow.

I wanted it to be a surprise, so I was going to act as if I didn't know it was her birthday.

"What are you doing?" I heard Kiyara's voice at the other end of the phone.

"Nothing much," I said, looking at the magazine which had so many pictures of cars.

"Should I come over?"

"Yes, please," I said immediately, almost cutting her off, but I heard her laugh from the other end and she said,

"I was just joking." Then she cut the call and I let out a heavy sigh.

Kiyara

My birthday is coming soon and I haven't heard anything from Ezekiel. It's like he doesn't know that it's coming soon. I even left my birthday date on a book and opened it in front of one of the cameras so he would notice, but I guess he didn't look at his computer.

I was a little bit annoyed, but maybe he knows and just doesn't remember yet. I walked around my penthouse while thinking of it.

I knew that Ariel and Bella wouldn't let me down; they always host a party for me.

I was feeling bored, so I went to visit Jasmine, who was busy designing her new dress as I talked to her about Ezekiel.

"Do you think he remembers?" I asked worriedly.

"Your birthday hasn't arrived yet. Relax, maybe he is planning a surprise for you," she said, bending down to arrange the diamond stones.

"Yeah, you're right," I sighed and looked at my palm which was on top of my lap.

"And besides, Ezekiel looks cold and emotionless at times, which makes people think that he doesn't care... well, most times he doesn't, but trust me, when it comes to you, he really cares."

"Yeah, I guess."

Jasmine immediately shifted her attention to me and had a little frown.

"Girl... you guess?... look at that mark on your wrist," Jasmine pointed at my wrist as I looked at it confused.

"What is wrong with it?" I asked.

"The same mark is on him, did you realize?" What the freaking fudge!...

"I did notice a new mark on Ezekiel, but I didn't really pay much attention to it. I thought that maybe it was because he accidentally cut himself while cooking," I said, worried and a little bit annoyed. Why would he hurt himself like that? Is he careless?

"Ezekiel doesn't cook. He learned just for you, and do you know why Ezekiel doesn't cook? Because it was actually a burning fire that caused the tragedy with our mother, and since then he has this phobia related to fire, whatever name they call it. But he decided to face his fears for you and trust me, he has done a lot more than that. This is just the basics," Jasmine said, then drank a whole cup of coffee in one go.

"I-I didn't realize," I felt guilty for questioning Ezekiel's love for me.

"Sometimes I just look at you and say, such an amazing girl... because you are lucky to have him and he is lucky to have you. You are his strength and he has started smiling more than before." She smiled at me and I gave her a sad smile.

"I-I need to go," I said and immediately picked up my purse and left her house.

I went straight to Ezekiel's mansion and I was greeted by Luke, his elegant butler.

"Miss Kiyara, the young master is in his study."

"Thanks, Luke," I gave him a smile and immediately went to Ezekiel's study without knocking and immediately hugged him.

"What's wrong, oxygen ?" He asked worriedly and I immediately took his wrist to look at it.

"Why did you have to do this to yourself?" I frowned at him.

"I wanted to be reminded of you, everywhere I went, and I wanted to do it so I can also share your pain," he looked at me with his charming icy blue eyes and I looked at him in disbelief.

"That's irrational, Ezekiel," I shouted and emphasized the word "irrational."

Then he chuckled and said, "I remember telling you that I was devoted." He smirked, which made him look dashing with his tousled hair, grey knitted shirt, and long trousers.

"Don't tell me that there are more marks," I narrowed my eyes.

"How many do you have?" He raised one eyebrow and I widened my eyes.

"You recreated all the marks on my body on yours?" I asked, shocked. He closed his eyes and nodded with a smile.

"There aren't many, so relax. It's my way of making up for not being there for you when you were getting the marks. From now on, if I fail to relieve you of pain, I will cause myself pain. You shall not suffer alone, oxygen.," he connected our foreheads and placed his hands at the sides of my face as he spoke slowly.

"But I don't want you getting hurt, babe," I looked at him in the eyes sadly.

"If you don't want me to get hurt, then don't get hurt," he smiled and released his hands, and I sighed, "Stop being unreasonable, Ezekiel."

"I'm not being unreasonable, oxygen ." There was a minute of silence as I looked at him with a really? face.

"Stop hurting yourself," I said plainly and he nodded.

"Okay, I won't." It doesn't take a minute to know that he is not sincere about that as I still narrowed my eyes. He immediately smiled and hugged me.

"I'm glad that you are here, babe. I missed you."

I sighed and hugged him back, "Me too."

Ezekiel

I'm glad that Kiyara didn't persist with that topic because I won't stop making up for letting her get hurt.

It was finally the day of her birthday and I wished her in the morning while she just got out of bed and prepared a small gift for her. For the first time, I prayed that she would accept it.

I arrived at her house and I saw that her friends and, surprisingly, Mark had prepared a surprise party for her. She was happy and wore a bright smile. After some minutes, Kiyara started unwrapping the gifts and saying thank you to her friends, including Mark, and it was finally my turn.

"Don't tell us you have nothing for Kiyara," Bella said with narrowed eyes.

"How can he not bring anything for Kiyara? Remember, you are talking to the boss of E-tech, Bella," Mark brought out a cocky smile and I smirked a little.

"I'm sorry, Kiyara... the gift I will be giving you may seem small, but if you need anything else you can tell me," I looked at her beautiful face and she smiled at me.

"I will always appreciate anything you offer," she smiled at me and held my arm. I clicked my fingers and ten different cars were parked outside her penthouse and Luke came with six different documents and I handed them to her.

"This one is the signed contract from Morent which is now officially yours. These two are documents that state you are the new owner of two of my lands. This tells you that you are the owner of two mansions in Nigeria. This is the paperwork for half of my company." Mark's jaw dropped at the last sentence.

"And this tells you that you are officially the new owner of two restaurants in California. I saw the way you looked at restaurants and I also overheard you tell Bella that if you were to have another job, it would be to own a restaurant," I smiled at her shocked face.

"Ezekiel," she said in shock.

"Yes?" I asked calmly and she slowly said,

"Can you hear yourself?" She looked like she just saw someone come back from the dead.

"This man made our gifts look like baby toys," Ariel fake cried on Mark's chest, who looked surprised too. Bella, on the other hand, gave a smile which said, I guess you are actually perfect for her.

Soon I saw tears in Kiyara's eyes.

I turned worried, "You don't like it? Don't worry, I will find a way to give you something else. What do you want, baby

"This-this is too much," I hugged her tightly. "Really? ... I will return some of them if you want." But Kiyara kept on crying, which hurt my heart deeply.

"I'm so sorry, love. I'm sorry," I said sadly. Then she glared at me, making me confused.

"Did you forcefully take Morent away from the rightful owner?" she asked suspiciously.

"Of course not. I just pleaded and compensated them," I said sincerely, and she believed me.

"Now I'm wishing to be Kiyara," Mark said to lighten the mood, and Bella scoffed.

"Wish to be Ezekiel instead," Bella said, smiling at me. Ariel cleaned her tears and said,

"I told you, Bella, not all men are the same." Mark then looked at Ariel and smiled at her. Something seemed wrong with him because I had never seen him smile at a girl like that.

Ariel went outside to check the cars and started counting them.

"SUV, Toyota Corolla, Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini, BMW, Lexus, Porsche, Range Rover, Mercedes. Fuck." Ariel covered her mouth with widened eyes as she looked at me.

"Can I start working in your company?"

"Girl code, Ariel, girl code," Bella said, and I saw Kiyara chuckle, making me feel happy that she was happy.

"Don't worry, Ariel. There will be a man in the future who would do something much better than this," Mark said, looking at his fingers with a smile.

"Maybe Shawn?" Bella said with a laugh, and Ariel narrowed her eyes.

"Who is Shawn?" Mark asked with darkened eyes.

"He is my boyfriend," Ariel said sweetly, looking straight at Mark's eyes as he stared at her, shocked for a moment, but he laughed it off.

"Hope he treats you well," he said with a fake smile.

"He does," Ariel said without blinking an eye.

"Uhm...well then, let's cut the cake, shall we?" Kiyara said, and I wrapped my hands around her waist. We all went back inside so Kiyara could make her wish and cut the cake.

"What did you wish for?" I asked her while the rest were busy talking.

"I can't tell," Kiyara smiled, and I frowned.

"Oh, come on. You said that last time," I said, annoyed.

"That's why you had to check my diary?" She narrowed her eyes, and I looked around, not wanting to meet her gaze.

"You think I wouldn't notice?" She pinched my cheek and gave me a peck, which felt soft and nice.
