Chapter 3 - The First Match (2/2)

As the barrier lifts itself, signaling the start of the match, the two sides started approaching each other, preparing to engage in the middle of the map.

Stealthily making myself around the group gathered at the middle of the field, I start inspecting the 5 opposing players.

The two guardians at the front are holding large shields holding back the two broadsword users by shifting their shields a bit, causing the strikes to be redirected towards the ground. Using their shields to then push the two opposing broadsword users back. The only reason the two broadsword players are still holding on is due to the mage assisting them by tying up the two guardians with the thorned vines, intercepting the two guardians from dealing the final blow at crucial times. As they were doing that, the two opposing mages in the back were preparing to launch two large ice missiles at our team.

Ice missiles were known for their penetrative force and long preparation time, causing them to be ineffective if the caster was taken out before the spell finished manifesting. The mages had probably wanted to finish the game fast, believing the two guardians would be enough to hold off the attackers.

On the other hand, the archer had not been able to deal a finishing blow on the opposing side, being hindered by the priest's healing capabilities, causing him to be in a standstill. Since beginner league archers don't have the skill 'Sniper's Eye' unlocked, their chances of dealing critical blows depends fully on their accuracy.

'Seems like they still have the upper hand though'

Once the two ice missiles are done, the chances of success against the opposing team will be void.

'But at least the priest had not unlocked any buffing capabilities yet'

Luckily, the priest had only focused on healing skills, having not unlocked any buffing skills, being the only reason for this standstill. Had the priest unlocked a buff for attack, the two broadsword wielders would have been completely suppressed by now.

As I approach the mage on the left-hand side in the back, I grab their mouth with my right hand, pulling them closer to me as I stab my dagger into their neck with my left in a practiced motion. For a mission dealing with stealth, speed is what matters most. After having eliminated one of the two mages, I quickly make my way towards the mage on the right eliminating them the same way.

As the two icicles disappeared, the three noticed the abnormality and turned around to see that the mages had disappeared.

"Priest, where did the mages disappear to?"

"How should I know; you think I have eyes on the back of my head?"

As they were bickering, the two broadsword wielders noticed the opportunity and pushed the two guardians back, starting to suppress the flurried guardians.

The archer, noticing the flaws shown by their agitation focused his shots on the priest, eliminating him shortly after.

With that, only the two guardians were left, which were soon suppressed by the four members.
