~Prologue~
Pressure from the computer screen blew broken glass at the scientist's face. The shouts
and cries of the scientist were heard throughout the laboratory. Victor frantically rushed to
lock down the building. "Building shutdown in minus 10 seconds...9...8..."
The screen cracks glitches, flickers. "5...4..." the screen explodes as hot steam flies at
Victor's face, throwing him onto their back. The lights flickered once more. "EVERYONE GET
OUT FAST!! BEFORE IT FINDS YOU!" The door is closing quickly with everyone trying to
escape, and someone didn't make it out.
The lights fell into darkness. "VICTOR! HELP!" cried George, banging with his fist on the
door. Jim madly yanked on the handle from the other side. "Hang on, George!" Victor
grabbed Jim's arm, urging him to leave.
"LEAVE HIM! HE'S A DEAD MAN!" Victor, seeing it was a lost cause, ran on.
"Help!!!" cried George. Turning and pressing his back against the door, a clacking sound
pierced the emptiness. His heart began to race, a drop of sweat slid down his face. There was
a faint heavy breathing felt against his ear. It cautiously wrapped its tarry claws around
George's ankles. "AHHHHHH!!!!" screamed George and like that, he disappeared.
"George!?" Jim yelled, banging on the door. Silence. The door opened with a loud creak.
"George?" the room was empty. The impulse to feel scared pounded through him.
"Oh god!" He fell to the ground in a panic, realizing his friend was gone. He dashed for the
door in fear that he might be next. "VICTOR!" he continued running towards the exit, almost
there.
"Come on Jim!!" Victor reaches out for Jim's hand and the door shut right on it. A
dismembered hand lay at the other side of the door as Jim was trapped on the other side.
"LOCK DOWN Complleetteeee!" the voice slurred. The room went dark.
"AHHHHHH!!!" blood squirt everywhere throughout the room as Jim held on to his wrist,
biting his lip in pain and trying not to sound worried. "Don't worry about me Victor....just go...I'll
be fine."
"I can't leave you here with that thing!! It's my fault!" cried Victor, banging on the door.
"GO!" Victor wiped his tears away as he ran. Jim turned around starting to panic, listening to
the dark, silent room. His breathing was beginning to increase. He crossed his arms to keep
from feeling cold. He tried to warm himself. Tentacles slowly crept up on Jim's ankles, pulling
him to the ground. "Ahhh!!!" the creature pulled his body along the cold cement floor,
disappearing into the dark. Victor ran, hearing the scream of his friend Jim. He fell to his
knees, coughing up blood.

Victor? Honey, what's wrong?" she touched his face, he removed her hand from his face. "I
must go...you are not safe...."
"What are you talking about?" she looked concerned now, she had never seen such fear in
his eyes. "I love you Maria..." He kissed her, it hurt to leave them but he had too for there
safety. Alex walked from the stairs.
"Goodbye...." words escaped her as she watched him run out the door and their lives forever.
"Daddy!" cried Alex. He knew he had to be strong and be there for his mom. "Don't worry
