Chapter 3 - ~Chapter 3 Into The Woods~

(Hanover, Germany 1991)

Annie's chains clanked as she moved them on her wrist. She was blamed for the death of my father and mother. The door opened as a lawyer walked in very serious in thought.

"Annie...." he opened up the file to read her last name, not memorizing it. "Scklandward?"

Annie nod sad, unsure what even happened this past month. "Annie I am going to be very

serious with you....it doesn't look good on your behalf, your father was never found, the only evidence was claw marks from the floor to the door and we searched the woods and found nothing, nobody, nothing and the only thing that is left behind besides fingernails is this letter talking about symptoms." Annie said nothing, what was she to say? No one would believe that her father was dragged and snatched away into the woods by a faceless, shadow-like creature. They would think her mad. Hoping she would say something, he cleared his throat looking back down at the file and continued to read. "As for your mother, she also was never

found, her body ALSO never found. No evidence." he rubbed his head.

"I don't know if we can help you Annie.....we can try, but if I were you, I would tell us what

happened....." she looked defeated.

"There is nothing I could say that would make you believe."

"Ann-"

"Sir! The girl's uncle is here" Annie looked up at Bryan who entered the room, he ran to

embrace her. "Annie are you alright?! Did they hurt you?" he touched her face scared for her.

She shook her head. "Don't worry I will get you out of here..." he said.

"Sir, are you the child's legal guardian?" he turned around to answer the man's question.

"As of recent, yes....."

"May I ask you-"

"No! You may not! My brother and sister in law just died and all you have is this scared

preteen who has no idea what happened and you come in and ask questions? What kind of police station is this? You have no proof, no evidence, no fingerprints from her but on the stair rails. I think you are way out of line!" the detective stood silent for a moment, he knew he had nothing to go back on.

"He is right" the judge walking in to where they were talking.

"But sir?!" yelled the detective in defeat.

"It's alright, you're free to go until further evidence, you're free to take her home doctor" he nods. They walked by the judge and he winked at Bryan. He had connections with the judge and owed him a favor.

Annie and Bryan were driven home by his driver, Oliver. Once they arrived, Annie looked around the house, scared and paranoid that the monster might be close by. "It's okay Annie...this isn't your fault..." Bryan looked away.

"Your room is upstairs to the left, I made room for you, of course, once I got your father's letter." just the thought of her father made her cry. Bryan couldn't help but feel bad for Annie, he knew what it felt like to lose someone close to him. "It's getting late, maybe you should unpack and head to bed...." she nod, still being wary.

Annie unpacked and once she was finished, she laid on her bed looking up at the ceiling. Something still felt off to her, however,

she didn't know what to think about it. Annie heard thunder from outside her bedroom window, the wind blew harshly. "It's just thunder...it's okay Annie" she turned onto her side.

A loud tabbing was heard from her window, she jumped at the sound and turned around

quickly to see... it was just an old tree branch. Annie's heart raced, scared by anything out of the ordinary anymore, she laid back down on the bottom bunk bed again and closed her eyes trying to fall asleep.

A loud creaking was heard, it got louder and louder and louder! Annie thought "Wow that

sure is a loud tree?" she opened her eyes to see the bed, twisting and forming into something else. The bed creaked and twisted trying to wrap itself around her, the wood from the boards holding her down. She started to panic, a shadowed creature appeared in the center of the bed. Annie's eyes got big in terror. "Please...no" she whispered looking away, as she began to whimper. It was the creature, it twisted to form long finger like claws around her wrists. "So you're my next prey" his disoriented voice said. It pointed to go for stabbing her stomach, cutting and tearing the middle of her shirt open. Annie thought it was the end, she was doomed, somehow she had to call Bryan. Annie commanded her throat to yell but her throat constricted and she choked on the sound. The creature laughed a little. "Tsk, Tsk! You can't get away, I think this will be the easiest kill I've ever had" it chuckled with glee. "No! No!" she struggled as it started cutting on her stomach. Finally, a scream went out. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Annie began to kick and scream. Bryan ran to the top of the stairs into Annie's bedroom to see her kicking and screaming. "ANNIE! ANNIE! WHAT'S WRONG!?" he saw bloody cuts begin to form on her stomach, he held onto her shaking her awake. Annie opened her eyes to see Bryan, tears ran down her face, blood coming from her stomach with claw mark right across it. "It's okay Annie, I'm here....."

Annie didn't sleep at all after that. She looked at her hands wondering if it was all real, and if she was ever going to be safe again. All she knew was that, that was the creature that killed her parents.

Annie got her backpack and ran to the library missing her first day of school, she didn't care about her education not with her life was in danger. Getting a ride to the library

from his shofar, she looked through books on paranormal entities. Annie found demonic spirits, a lot involving exorcisms, and psychics talking to dead and not

only that but possession. However, leading to a dead end. She had to find a way to stop this thing but was there a way? However, along on her search she noticed a computer, they weren't very common around where Annie lived but was interested in learning. Annie was a smart girl, she could figure out how to do this technology thing. Clicking on the internet icon, she didn't know how to search so Annie started clicking numbers to search. The Librarian walked over helped her "Here honey, you just use this mouse and click here and type what you need to just use the mouse to move around." though Annie was embarrassed about not knowing, a lot of people didn't know how to use it.

As soon as the librarian walked away she searched for shadow beings and found the article.

Shadowed people

Shadow like people that looks like a black shadow, but you can't see through it.

Characteristics:

• Male-like though gender unknown.

• No eyes, but can show red eyes, though very rare.

• Lightning like speed.

• Doesn't speak usually.

• Seems to defy the common law of physics.

• Look spirit like or demonic.

• Seen often around woodland areas.

Annie was shocked by what she found, it all made sense as far as things go, no eyes,

breaking the law of physics.....the woods. However, to her knowledge Annie remembered that it could talk it must have been special somehow. Not knowing much other than that, she assumed a lot of people didn't have experiences like she does. The forest...that was her next location.

~The Woods~

Walking through town with her backpack and the notes she took involving the

creature. Annie called Bryan's butler to drive her to the house where it all happened. "You

can stop right here Oliver....." he looked at her through the mirror up front. "Are you sure this is safe?....."

"I don't know Oliver but you can't tell Bryan, this is my business, not his...." Oliver had agreed, he was in no way the right to speak his mind since he wasn't a guardian or parent. "Yes miss" She took her bag and tried to open the door to find out that the door was already unlocked.

Annie walked in to see the staircase and the long dried up blood-stained fingernail claw

marks all the way to the door, with fingernails laying on the floor as if they were left behind.

She remembered it like it was yesterday, sitting on the staircase as he father was dragged off by that damn monster unknown to most, no one knew what it was. She followed the finger claw marks as far as it would go, which wasn't too far; it kind of

stopped close to the forest. However, Annie remembered that the police searched

everywhere in that forest and found nothing. She wasn't looking for her father this time, she was looking for any clues on the creature.

It was dark inside, eerie, unsettling. Birds where heard cawing in the distance, with a gust of wind that made it seem like the forest was alive somehow. "Annie," she thought she heard a voice. Quickly she turned around to search for the voice that was heard, her heart beating fast, and feeling paranoid once again. Nothing was found, the wind stopped abruptly. Dead silence. Something wasn't...safe. "h-hello?" she listened and watched for anything around her, only to hear herself breathing. She continued on a bit and heard crying, it echoed through the silence of the forest. She look over and saw a naked man sitting curled up in a sitting stance. Her heart raced, she inhaled feeling her heart drop to her stomach, she slowly but carefully walked up to him, he cried, and sniffled. "Hello sir." he turned his face a little, it was her father. He looking around like he was blind. "D-Daddy," she said starting to cry putting her hand over her mouth, scared but overjoyed. "It's okay, I'm here" she went to reach for him when he started to fade. "No! No! NO!" panicked Annie. An unknown demonic scream came

from his mouth. The skin started to peel right off the man that turned into the creature "Oh god no! FATHER!" she fell to the ground moving back quickly. Maniacal laughter came from the creature. "It's so much fun to see my prey in agony" the creature laughed in an abnormal tone.

Annie ran trying her best to escape the monster, however, each time she ran on she would find herself to be right in front of the creature once again. Annie fell twisting her ankle. "God.....no.....please" she cried trying to move away from it, she backed up into a tree, she was trapped. Turning into little shadowed vines it slowly crept onto her ankles. She fought to get free but the grip was to strong. She began crying, screaming bloody murder as it quickly pulled her towards him, all she could do is watch as it dragged her into a world of nothingness. The creature opened it's body up into a giant mouth to devour her, it seemed like the end for Annie. "Father.....I'm sorry" she cried. She laid there in defeat as it continued

to drag her. "ANNIE!!!!" a male voice was heard, it was Bryan. The creature looked from where the sound was coming. Not wanting to be caught, it dropped Annie and disappeared into a tree. Her eyes big and terrified by what just happened her. "ANNIE!" yelled Bryan running up to her.

"God....are you okay?... I found her!" yelled Bryan to Oliver who came running in as well.

"Did it hurt you?" he asked scared and worried, all she could do is mumble, holding onto Bryan as she cried. "I-I.....saw...dad.....he.....it" Annie began to cry more, holding onto Bryan for the pain inside her heart could never compare to the pain that she felt watching her father

die again.
