Shadow dashed towards her to strike her with his dagger in his hand. Just before the blade would touch her, Angelina muttered, "Get back."
Immediately, what felt like a mighty rush of wind grabbed shadow and pushed him back to the wall. He slid to the ground then got up almost instantly. It dashed towards Angelina while zigzagging to prevent her from anticipating its movements.
She patiently watched shadow as the demon moved about while she tried to predict its movement. When it reached striking range, Angelina made a gesture to punch it. Her punch was imbued with the force of the wind causing an audible rushing of wind to fly across the room.
She dropped her fist and to her surprise, there was nothing there. The demon had disappeared. She turned around instinctively to see shadow descending and slashing at her with the dagger in its hand.
She tried to avoid it but ended up with a slash wound on the left side of her chest. Her feet stumbled backwards lightly as she clutched the part of her that was bleeding.
"I'm surprised you were able to react to that." Shadow said smugly.
She didn't respond. She started whistling and the gash on her chest started closing up.
"Let's continue." She declared.
Shadow dashed at her in a straightforward manner, no zigzagging this time, but it was astonishingly fast, much to her surprise. Just before it would reach her, it disappeared from her line of sight. She spun around again and saw it briefly before it disappeared once more. She kept spinning around trying to predict its next move but it was futile. All she would see were flashes just as the demon disappeared.
Next thing she knew, she was slashed at the back. She turned around quickly to see nothing and only to be slashed once more at the side. The more she tried to react, the more slashes she received from all directions.
"Aaargh!" She yelled as she clapped her hand causing an omnidirectional burst of wind to radiate from her. She exhaled deeply then looked up ,purely on instinct, to see shadow who was in the air, just above her, swinging his dagger in her direction. She put her hand up protectively and got cut deep.
Shadow landed back on the floor and moved back a bit to put distance between them.
"Sorry young lady, but this is as far as you go." It said smugly as it held up its dagger playfully towards her.
To his surprise, Angelina started laughing. She laughed heartily and obnoxiously like a mad person. In her left hand, she was holding something and it took shadow a moment to realize what it was. The demon looked at its hands to see its free arm had been cut off. That was what Angelina held in her hand.
She brandished it before the demon then dropped it on the floor. Steam erupted from her wounds as they closed up, the demon on the other hand was regrowing its arm.
"Too bad for you, I have already figured out your ability." She said with a creepy smile.
"What?" The demon said with shock etched on its face.
"Initially, I thought you were like him," she said referring to her brother, "increased speed and agility, but that was only a fraction of it. At the speed at which I saw you move, you should have cut off my head before I could react but you didn't because you hadn't reached there yet."
"I've been figured out." Shadow said with a wild smirk. "You seem to understand it already."
"Of course." She said, now completely healed. "Your ability allows you to manipulate your presence, you can hide it or replicate it somewhere else."
"You got me." Shadow responded.
"Too bad for you though; I'm your worst match." she declared boldly as she slashed her hand wildly in the demon's direction. A series of waves flew through the air following Angelina's hand movement.
Shadow dodged them all and ran towards her, but rather than react to what was before her, she slashed her hand towards her side, and the wave cut through something, causing blood to squirt from that direction.
The projection of shadow before her vanished and at her side, was the actual shadow whose hand had just been cut off.
"My heavenly pact is everything associated with the wind. No matter how hard you try to hide, I will still find you." She said coldly.
"Tch." The demon muttered as it grew back its hand.
"What was that thing you said again?" She asked rhetorically, "Oh yeah: sorry shadow, but this is as far as you go."
"You truly are interesting." It said as its hand grew back fully.
Without wasting time, he dashed towards her. She jumped into the air and delivered a spin kick in Shadow's direction, causing a wave of wind to cut through the air towards it.
The wave passed through the Shadow she saw as it vanished. She spun around to dodge a slash from the actual shadow. It wasn't like she didn't sense him, the moment she jumped for the spin kick, Shadow had left a fake presence while hiding his own presence to attack from behind her.
She used the wind to push herself backwards, gaining some distance between her and Shadow as she knew the demon had advantage in close combat.
"I'd like to round this up as quickly as possible." Shadow said.
"Yeah, me too." Angelina responded. She moved her hands wildly through the air, causing the waves to follow Shadow's presence relentlessly.
She'd cut off its body parts multiple times but it kept growing them back.
"Impressive." Shadow muttered to itself while dodging her slashed. "Her pool of mana is incredible and the application is nearly perfect. She is strong…and she will be stronger."
But there was something that disturbed it as it watched her fight. Her movements and her ability almost reminded him of another demon. One of the demons that sent him on this mission: the demon named Kamikaze.
Amidst the attacks, it thrust its dagger at Angelina who barely managed to dodge it. She paused for a moment as Shadow landed on the floor to regrow most of its body parts.
"This might be my last." He said to her somewhat seriously. "I have one piece of advice for you."
"And what would that be?" She asked.
"Watch out for a certain demon, the one who calls himself Kamikaze." Shadow responded.
"And who is that?" She asked again.
"Don't worry. Somehow you will find each other." Shadow responded.
The demon took a combat-like crouch, indicating that it was ready to continue the fight. Angelina, in response, also took a stance to show she was ready to continue.
Shadow dashed right past her in an instant and appeared behind her. The demon then slowly turned around to face her.
"Stand proud. You have bested me." It said with a smile on its face as its body split into two halves and began to disintegrate.
Angelina sighed, slightly exhausted as she turned to the side of the room where Derrick's bed was but to her surprise, the bed was empty.
