Two weeks later, Alex met Betty in her room, curious about why she wanted to meet him. Betty revealed a shocking discovery, ''Alex, I found a photo in London, and it changed everything.''
Alex took the phone from her, and his eyes widened as he saw the picture. ''What is this? Who is this woman?''
Betty's voice was filled with excitement. ''That's your mother, Fiona Wilson! I investigated her supposed death, and it seems she's actually alive in London, suffering from amnesia due to anemia.''
Alex's heart raced as he processed the news. ''So, my mom is alive? And you're helping me find her?''
Betty smiled. ''Of course, Alex. We're friends. I'll send someone to bring her back to New York in a few days.''
Overjoyed, Alex thanked Betty and couldn't wait to reunite with his mother.
Meanwhile, in Daniel's room, Alex reveals the truth about Grace's betrayal. ''Dad, I'm telling the truth. Aunt Grace has been poisoning your coffee. We need to go to the hospital for a check-up.''
Daniel's face turned red with anger, but he eventually agreed to seek medical attention. Alex felt a sense of relief, knowing his father would finally receive the truth and justice would be served.
In Sophia's office, Alex searched for Betty, but Sophia hadn't seen her. Just then, Betty walked in, and Alex asked her out for dinner to thank her for finding his mother.
''Hey Betty, I wanted to thank you for finding my mom. Would you like to grab dinner with me tonight?'' Alex asked, his eyes shining with gratitude.
Betty smiled, ''Sure, Alex. I'd love to.''
But Sophia intervened, her voice stern. ''Betty, you need to study for your exams. You can't just go out whenever you want.''
Betty looked down, ''Sorry, sis. I forgot to ask permission.''
Sophia scolded her, ''You always forget. You're so irresponsible. Go to your room and study overnight. I'll quiz you tomorrow morning.''
Alex stood up for Betty, his voice firm. ''That's not fair, Sophia. You're treating her like a slave. She deserves to make her own choices.''
Sophia's eyes narrowed. ''Mind your own business, Alex. This is none of your concern.''
Alex refused to back down. ''I'm making it my concern. Betty, you don't have to listen to her. You're coming with me.''
Betty hesitated, looking at Sophia, then at Alex. ''Alex, don't fight with my sis. I always respect her.''
Alex held her hand, his touch warm and comforting. ''You don't have to respect her if she's treating you like that. Come on, let's go.''
Sophia threatened, ''If you meddle in our affairs, I won't treat your father.''
Alex called her bluff, his eyes locked on hers. ''I'm not afraid of that. You're only treating him to gain fame and recognition. I know your true motives, Sophia.''
Sophia's face paled, her eyes widening in shock. ''How did you know?''
Alex smiled, his voice triumphant. ''I'm not blind, Sophia. I see through your facade.''
As they walked out of the office, Sophia looked uncertain and concerned, realizing her control over Betty was slipping away.
In the hospital garden, Alex and Betty sat on a bench, surrounded by lush greenery and vibrant flowers. Alex expressed his concern, ''Betty, you're not a slave to Sophia. You deserve to make your own choices.''
Betty defended her sister, ''You're wrong, Alex. Sophia isn't treating me like a slave. She's just trying to protect me.''
Alex sighed, ''Betty, I know you're not telling me the truth. Did you do something wrong to your sister?''
Betty's eyes widened in fear, and she began to shiver. ''N-no, I didn't do anything wrong. It was just an accident.''
Alex's expression softened, and he wrapped his arms around Betty in a comforting hug. ''Okay, Betty. I believe you. You're safe now.''
But Betty's body went limp, and she fainted in Alex's arms. Alex quickly lifted her up and rushed her to the hospital, his heart racing with concern.
At the hospital, Alex anxiously asked the doctor, ''How is Betty? Why did she faint suddenly?''
The doctor replied, ''She fainted due to stress. I suspect she has some psychological issues. Please contact her doctor for more information.''
Alex's eyes widened in surprise. ''Psychological issues? What do you mean?''
The doctor hesitated, ''I'm not sure. You'll need to speak with her doctor for details.''
Alex nodded and thanked the doctor. As soon as the doctor left, Alex pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
''Hey, can you meet me tomorrow?'' Alex asked, his voice low and urgent.
The person on the other end agreed, ''Yeah, sure. Can we meet at your house?''
Alex nodded, even though the person couldn't see him. ''Okay, thanks. I need your help with something.''
At Sophia's office, a concerned nurse approached her. ''Madam, did you hear that your sister fainted suddenly?''
Sophia's expression turned cold. ''She's just pretending. I know her tricks. She's a master manipulator.''
The nurse looked uncertain. ''But, madam, she's your sister. Can't you just check on her?''
Sophia's voice rose in anger. ''Shut up! And get out!''
The nurse quickly exited the room, leaving Sophia alone. Just then, Alex burst in, looking frantic.
''Sophia, please tell me who Betty's psychological doctor is. I need to know what's going on.''
Sophia's eyes narrowed. ''I don't know, and even if I did, I wouldn't tell you. Just leave her alone.''
Alex's eyes pleaded with Sophia. ''Why do you hate Betty so much? What happened between you two?''
Sophia's voice was laced with venom. ''She killed my sister. And now she's playing the victim to get attention.''
Alex's eyes widened in disbelief. ''I don't believe it. Betty wouldn't hurt anyone.''
Sophia shrugged. ''Believe what you want. But stay away from her.''
Meanwhile, in Betty's hospital room, she slowly opened her eyes to find Alex sleeping beside her. She whispered a soft ''thank you'' before drifting off to sleep again.
The next morning, Alex asked Betty, ''Do you really want to discharge yourself? You're not fully recovered yet.''
Betty smiled weakly. ''I'm fine, Alex. And my doctor is on the way for a checkup.''
Alex nodded, relieved. ''Alright. I'll head home for some work. Take care, Betty.''
Betty smiled again, her eyes filled with gratitude. ''Thanks, Alex. I owe you one.''
