Chapter 8 - A mysterious reunion

Fiona's tears of joy streamed down her face as she hugged Alex tightly, her hands stroking his hair. ''My Alex, look how handsome you are now,'' she sobbed, her voice cracking with emotion.

Alex's face softened as he wiped away his mother's tears. ''Don't cry, Mom. You're not late,'' he said, his voice filled with reassurance.

Daniel's eyes sparkled with humor as he chimed in, ''Only your son is handsome, Fiona. Am I not handsome?''

Fiona's eyes shone with love as she gazed at Daniel. ''You are the most handsome person in my eyes, Daniel,'' she said, her voice filled with conviction.

As they hugged again, Betty watched with a smile, feeling happy that she had reunited with a family.

Alex's expression turned serious as he asked, ''Can you tell us now, Mom, who tried to kill you? Was it Aunt Grace?''

Fiona's face darkened as she nodded. ''Yes, Alex. Grace pushed me from the mountains. But some tribal people saved me, and I was in a coma for two months. When I woke up, I had lost my memories.''

Daniel's eyes narrowed in anger. ''How dare Grace be so cruel to you? I'll kick her out of the house right now.''

But Betty's voice was calm and rational. ''Uncle, stop. If you throw her out now, she'll try to do something even worse. But if we expose her true colors to the media and the police, she'll be powerless.''

Daniel's face lit up with understanding. ''You're right, Betty. But how can we expose her?''

Betty's eyes sparkled with determination. ''I have a plan. We can gather evidence of her wrongdoings and reveal it to the world. We'll show her true face to everyone.''

Fiona's eyes widened in admiration. ''You're very smart, Betty. But why are you helping us?''

Daniel's smile was warm. ''Fiona, you don't know that she's Alex's girlfriend.''

Fiona's face lit up with delight. ''Oh, I'm so satisfied with my daughter-in-law.''

Alex's face turned bright red as he protested, ''Ahem, enough, Mom. We need to focus on the plan.''

Fiona's laughter was music to their ears. ''Look, Daniel, Alex is blushing.''

Daniel's chuckle was deep. ''Hahaha...our son is growing up, Fiona.''

The doorbell rang, and the servant hurried to answer it. Andrew and Scarlett stood in the doorway, their presence causing a stir in the household. Susan, Mark, and Sophia were shocked, their eyes fixed on Scarlett as if they were seeing a ghost.

Susan's face crumpled as she rushed towards Scarlett, tears streaming down her face. ''Scarlett, where have you been for the past 10 years? We thought we'd never see you again!'' she sobbed, her voice cracking with emotion.

Scarlett's eyes filled with tears as she hugged her mother tightly. ''Sorry, Mom. I lost my memories, but after some time, I remembered you all. I'm so sorry for being late,'' she said, her voice trembling.

Susan's sobs intensified as she held her daughter close. ''Thank God you're still alive! I missed you so much, honey!''

Scarlett's voice was filled with emotion. ''I missed you too, Mom.''

Mark's face was etched with guilt as he spoke up. ''You didn't miss me, Scarlett.''

Scarlett's response was immediate as she hugged her father tightly. ''No, I missed you too, Dad.''

Mark's voice cracked as he apologized. ''Silly sorry, I couldn't save you that day.''

Scarlett's reassurance was swift. ''Don't say that, Dad. You did everything you could.''

Sophia's eyes were red-rimmed as she hugged Scarlett tightly. ''Sis, I missed you so much!'' she sobbed.

Scarlett's voice was soothing. ''Okay, no more tears, Sophia. We're together now, and that's all that matters.''

As they hugged, the tension in the room dissipated, replaced by a sense of joy and gratitude. They stood there for a moment, holding each other tightly, savoring the reunion they thought was impossible.

Mark's eyes narrowed slightly as he asked, ''Who is this young man, Scarlett?''

Scarlett's face lit up with a smile. ''Oh, Dad, this is my husband, Andrew Wilson.''

Andrew bowed slightly, his eyes locked on Mark. ''Hello, uncle. My name is Andrew Wilson. Please don't hate me for marrying Scarlett.''

Mark's expression softened as he replied, ''Why are you so nervous, Andrew? And why are you calling me uncle? Please call me Dad.''

Susan's voice chimed in, ''And call me Mom from now on, honey. We're family now.''

Scarlett's eyes sparkled with excitement. ''Can we have a party, Mom? Because our daughter and son-in-law are here?''

Mark's face lit up with a smile. ''Of course, today is a special day. We'll definitely party. Andrew, can you call your parents? We have to meet your parents.''

Andrew nodded, his eyes shining with enthusiasm. ''Of course, Dad and Mom.''

As they chatted, Scarlett's eyes scanned the room, her brow furrowed in concern. ''Sophia, where is Betty? I miss her so much.''

Sophia's expression turned sour. ''I don't know where that bitch is.''

Scarlett's eyes widened in shock. ''Why are you calling her a bitch, Sophia? Ten years ago, because of me, she was in danger.''

Sophia's voice was laced with venom. ''I don't want to talk about Betty now. She's not important.''

Scarlett's face was filled with disappointment. ''How can you say such things about Betty? She's our sister.''

Susan's voice was firm. ''Enough, Sophia! Betty is not wrong. See, Scarlett is safe now. You have to apologize to Betty for slapping her.''

Sophia's face twisted in anger. ''I'll never apologize to her. I hate her!'' She stormed out of the room, leaving the others in an uncomfortable silence.

Scarlett's eyes turned to her mother, confusion etched on her face. ''Mom, what happened to Sophia? Why is she behaving like that?''

Susan's expression was calm. ''Nothing happened to Sophia, dear. She's just mad. She'll come around eventually.''

The door swung open, and Betty walked in, a hint of excitement in her voice. "Mom, Dad, I'm home."

The door swung open, and Betty walked in, a hint of excitement in her voice. ''Mom, Dad, I'm home.''

Susan's face lit up with a warm smile. ''Honey, where are you? We thought you were still at your friend's house.''

Betty's eyes sparkled with mischief. ''Mom and Dad, I'm at Alex's house. And we all need to go there now.''

Mark's brow furrowed in confusion. ''But why so suddenly, Betty? What's going on?''

Betty's voice dropped to a whisper, her eyes scanning the room as if she feared being overheard. ''Can you cooperate with us, Mom and Dad? Please?''

Susan's expression turned curious, but she nodded. ''We're ready, Betty. Whatever it is, we'll support you.''

Mark's face was filled with trust. ''Of course, Betty. We're your parents. We'll always be there for you.''

Betty's eyes locked onto the couple who had just arrived, her gaze piercing. ''And who are you, madam and mister?''

The room fell silent, the tension palpable, as everyone waited for Betty's next move. Little did they know, this was just the beginning of a new chapter in their lives, one filled with secrets, surprises, and unexpected twists.
