~ With Alex ~
After considering his options, Alex set his sights on a gaming franchise that could revolutionize the gaming industry in this new world, Battlefield.
To put it simply, the most mainstream game type is the FPS genre. Unlike Role-playing games that need intricate systems, or Action games that require complex combos and mechanics, First-Person Shooter games have a straightforward appeal. The gameplay is always the same – use a gun to eliminate all enemies in your path. It's simple and easily understood by players.
He also chose this franchise for a two other reasons. Firstly, the game's core gameplay revolves around large-scale battles. The multiplayer mode is its main feature, and despite the backward gaming concepts in this new world, multiplayer games remain a constant, making this a safe option.
Secondly, Battlefield itself has a rich narrative presented through episodic storytelling, unlike the long, linear plots of Modern Warfare and Black Ops. This format suits the game's style, highlighting the brutality of war through individual soldier's experiences.
"Can I make changes to the settings?" Alex muttered. As he felt the information transmitted by the system, a smile spread across his face.
Battlefield is just the name of the game series, but it spans various settings from World War I and II to modern and futuristic warfare, with varying levels of acclaim.
'With World War I as the setting, and by tweaking the operation modes and gameplay settings, some improvements can definitely be made.' He thought excitedly.
As part of the novice gift package, the Epic Game System allowed him to completely modify the game. Considering the potential impact value he could generate, Alex planned to make some changes to fit the tastes and expectation of players in this new world.
The primary multiplayer gameplay modes in Battlefield are 'Conquest' and 'Operations'. Conquest mode revolves around capturing and holding strategic points on the map, while Operations mode is an attack-and-defend scenario.
In previous versions, technical limitations prevented the recreation of historical battles on a grand scale. But now, with the advanced technology of this new world? It was entirely possible. The Battle of Somme, the Battle of Verdun, and even the D-Day landings at Normandy could be recreated with incredible realism.
Of course, it wouldn't involve hundreds of thousands of soldiers charging at once, as that would be chaotic and impractical. Instead, battles would be conducted in various regions with units operating independently yet cohesively. Tens of thousands of players could participate in a single battle, making for a breathtaking experience.
As for the single-player campaign, Alex decided to start with the dramatic scene involving a tank assault in the first chapter. This would serve as a powerful introduction, hooking players and sparking their interest.
The single-player content in Battlefield 1 was excellent, with strong performance and engaging stories. Its main flaw was that it was too short. Given the state of the gaming industry now, Alex was confident that even with just these elements, he could attract a large player base.
"Alright, let's go live!" After finalizing the preparations, he logged into the largest official game store in the country and uploaded the game.
Thanks to the system's gift package, all the necessary administrative details, like company registration, tax ID, game version number, and server setup, were already taken care of. The game assets and other content were outsourced to third-party developers, with all contracts properly handled. There was no room for complaints or legal issues.
Once the upload was confirmed, Alex checked the new game entry list on the game mall and saw Battlefield listed there. Every new game appears in the new game list section, which serves as a small recommendation on the official platform.
"The rest is up to the players now." He said to himself after the successful upload. Instead of staying glued to the computer to refresh the background data, he moved to the VR experience setup in his living room.
There was only one thing left from him to do – have some fun!
Even though he played nearly every version of Battlefield in his previous life, whether it was the renowned and classic Battlefield 1 or the latest Battlefield 2042, he had yet to experience them with the technology of this new world.
His setup included a treadmill-like pedal sensing device, an SAO-style gaming helmet, sensor clothing, and a 75-degree angle anti-fall binding similar to a chair. While there were gaming pods available, the current VR + somatosensory equipment provided a stronger sense of immersion and was more affordable, making it the mainstream choice.
As he prepared to dive into the game, Alex couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement. He was about to experience Battlefield in a way that players in his old world would have never imagined.
'Let's see how it goes!' He thought, a smile etched onto his face as he started the game.
