Upon his arrival at the Etris docks, Argus wasted no time. He made his way through the bustling streets, the familiar sights and sounds of Etris now tinged with a renewed sense of purpose. The Etris Inn stood before him, a beacon of familiarity in a city fraught with danger.
Entering the inn, Argus scanned the room, his eyes searching for Neo, the innkeeper. Spotting him behind the bar, Argus approached, his footsteps echoing in the quiet room.
-Neo, do you know someone called Kennith?
-Hm. Why did you ask?
-I need to talk to him about something…
-Oh I see… He should be somewhere around the guildhall. Just go there and search around. I'm sure he will find you.
-Alright, thanks.
Argus then went straight to the guildhall in Etris. Where he encountered a middle aged guy with a strange hat. The guy went right into Argus and started telling things.
-Well, If it isn't Argus Talo! It sure puts an Etrean's heart at ease seeing you around.
-I'm sorry, have we met?
-I can't say we have, but you're somewhat famous around here. A man like Kennith ought to show appreciation for those who serve this great nation - I'm Kennith, by the way. *His shining white teeth glimmer as he cracks a smile*
-Right…
-Is it just me, or does this feel like the start of a friendship that is written in the stars?
-Yeah, sure, I guess.
-Ah, er, anyways. Friend-to-friend, do you think I could count on you to check something out for me?
-Check something?
-Indeed. You see, as a simple man who wants the best for the land I grew up in, I chose the path of becoming a guard. Common-folk like myself have no place in politics around these parts, after all.
As Argus kept nodding, Kennith continued his speech.
-Be that as it is, I believe a man who cares for his town-folk ought to ask the questions no one is asking. Why is it that barring baseline guard provisions there is no real movement from Etrea's government?
Why is there seemingly no active effort from our leadership to improve things around here?
-So what, is it that you want?
-As a fellow aspiring hero of Etrea, I want your help in investigating the current Lord Regent's rise to power. Personally, if it were legal without an official audience, I'd like to just ask the man what's going on myself, but I figure learning a bit more about him first is a better approach.
-I'll look into it.
-Dear old friend! I knew I could count on you. You might find some leads by talking to the other townsfolk, like the librarian. I'll keep checking around myself. Let me know if you happen upon anything.
After greeting Kennith, Argus went straight to the Bookkeeper Andros, also known as the Great Librarian.
