When he got in the library, Andros didn't realize the presence of Argus for a while, he was locked in, reading a book.
-Oh! Uh, hello. Pardon me, I was rather deep in thought.
-About what?
-Well, I was reading through a book my grandfather left me… one of the old world, yes?... It spoke of the trade routes frequented in those days, but peculiarly these journeys were taken by horse and carriage, rather than by sea.
Argus kept listening carefully.
-Isn't that remarkable? That they traveled such distance by animal? Just what world did our ancestors live in? These old books are more of a passing fancy of mine, but I've heard there's an order of scholars that devote their life to researching the old world. Don't you wonder what things were like back then?
-Is there anything you can tell me about Etris?
-If you head past the inn, you'll find the Lord Regent's estate. I would not advise entering without an invitation, however. Even a bookish fool such as I, knows when I am not welcome.
-Who is Lord Regent exactly?
-The Lord Regent is the "acting regent" of Etrea. That is to say, he is not the prophesied King, but he still holds absolute power over Etrea. In recent years, he has sequestered himself away in his palace, rarely making an appearance. Some worry that he has grown ill, but considering that his duties have not been passed on to any of his officials, I doubt this is the case.
-Do you know anything about his rise to power? A guard I met is curious about what has become of Etrean politics
-What's perhaps more interesting is what we don't know all too much about his rise to power. Before his rise to power, there was an official recognised historian in the Etrean court. I had once hoped that I myself could fill such a position, but it no longer exists. It's said that when the Lord Regent came to power, half of the books in the libraries disappeared overnight.
-Do you know what happened to those records?
-It didn't seem wise to make a fuss over them. They were simply articles of public knowledge at the time, so I doubt they were stolen or anything like that. Whatever became of them is clearly nothing of anyone's business, so I recommend you don't dig further either.
After almost an hour of talking about the situation of Etris and the ancient books that are left to Andros from his grandfather about the old world. It was almost night time, so Argus didn't dig down further and went to the Etris Inn to sleep till morning.
As the sun cast its golden rays upon the city of Etris, Argus rose from his slumber, his mind still heavy with the weight of the previous day's revelations. Determination fueled his every step as he made his way to the old place where he had last seen Kennith.
