Benedict was surprised to see the kid the goddess had told him to look after as the first person he encountered after the massacre began. Not only that, but the girl in front of him with red lightning around her was giving him chills.
Kaylessa was consumed by rage; the more she battled the ghouls, the more her fury grew. There was no turning back at this point; she would need to bear the agony in her ribs as she fought alongside Benedict, who was in even worse shape than she was.
Benedict, along with Kaylessa and her summons, formed a protective circle around the child. Despite being weaponless and missing a hand, Benedict managed to hold his own as the thunder warriors unleashed bolts of lightning to fend off the attacking ghouls.
On the flip side, because of the protective barrier cast by her mother, Kaylessa was able to withstand the attack as though it didn't exist, and she only had to withstand the pain from the impact.
However, there seemed to be a never-ending amount of ghouls; Benedict was well aware of this.
"Kid, listen to me. Take the other child with you and run towards the barrier of the white tower. There are ships there that will help rescue the people who survived."
"W-Wha but you-"
"THIS IS NOT UP TO DEBATE; KID IS AN ORDER; NOW GO!."
Kaylessa squeezed her hands tightly before grabbing the child and fleeing from the monsters towards the barrier, but she made sure to leave her summoned creatures to assist Benedict.
Benedict smiled when he saw that they were a safe distance away before using his special skill [Berserker]. Once he activated it, a red, bloody aura appeared and formed a new transparent red hand where his missing hand used to be.
Benedict began attacking the ghouls with strength and energy, letting out a loud roar. More and more ghouls appeared around him as he punched and kicked them with great force, showing no sign of his previous injuries. He even used one ghoul as a weapon to smash into the others, laughing loudly as he did so.
"COME AND GET ME MOT%& FU$"£$!"
In the barracks of the red order, there wasn't as much bombing as in other areas, but one beam struck it directly in the middle, causing enough damage for it to collapse. Ayaka, who was in her room, quickly left after hearing the loud noise.
She witnessed a horrifying scene: a huge monster in the sky, shooting dark beams that were destroying the flying mountains and the city below.
Ayaka hurriedly ran to find shelter. She stayed hidden until the loud noises stopped. After moving some rubble, she was able to leave her hiding spot and was shocked by the widespread destruction that occurred in just a few minutes.
She noticed that other survivors were emerging from where they had been hiding, but there weren't many of them. It was unknown how many others might still be trapped beneath the rubble. Then she looked up and saw the frontline flying teams going toward the colossal enemy.
Unfortunately, they were unable to approach the monster because many terrifying gargoyles emerged from it, darkening the sky. The flying teams were swiftly outnumbered and devoured by the gargoyles, leaving nothing behind, not even the bones of the soldiers and creatures.
There wasn't enough time to be scared or astonished because large balls began falling from the sky, quickly transforming into nests filled with thousands of monsters that began chasing down the remaining survivors.
Fortunately, Ay still had her bow and arrows, so she wasn't helpless. Luckily, she spotted other survivors from the Kay squad and signaled for them to join her in hiding.
After a short while of finding more people who had survived, there were already 12 individuals from both Kay's and other squads.
"I plan to go look for Kaylessa and Laurelena; you guys are free to stay or follow me."
"Dont worry, we will follow you to find our captain"
The Kay squad members agreed to go quickly, but the rest of the group didn't want to leave and chose to stay hidden, hoping to be rescued. Ay gave them a scornful glance before leaping out of the window with four other warriors following her.
The restaurant areas were the most heavily affected during the attack. The worst of the bombing occurred there, followed by the appearance of the hives, which unleashed their creatures to hunt down and kill the remaining survivors.
Laurelena was unconscious from the start, but she is alive because of Kay's mother's quick actions. She put all of her daughter girls behind a shield that turns on when their health is dangerously low.
Kay was running as fast as she could after turning off her ability. The pain was intense and made it difficult for her to concentrate. At one point, she jumped from one roof to another but slipped and fell to the ground, shielding the child's body with her own.
"Rggg cuf cuf, are you okay, kid?"
"Yeah, sis, thanks for helping me, but if im a burden for you, just leave me."
"Don't be silly; I won't abandon you here. Remember what the general said? I have to take you to safety."
Kay gently touched the child's hair and tried to get up, but when they stopped to rest for a moment, the monsters got closer to them. The loud sounds of the monsters' roars and claws scraping on the ground could be heard in the distance.
"Tsk, those pests are really quick on their feet."
She grabbed the child again and began running towards the white tower barrier. Meanwhile, Ayaka and the warriors of Kay Squad were avoiding open areas to avoid the ghouls.
Ayaka was clearly upset and worried. The longer it took her to find Kay, the more anxious she became. The destroyed city and dangerous creatures attacking survivors only added to her distress.
While she was deep in thought, one of the ghouls spotted them hiding in a nearby house and let out a loud roar to signal the nearby ghouls.
