Chapter 12 -  Chapter 12: Pushing the Boundaries

Luth woke up the next day with a burning desire to continue his experiments. The dream from the previous night still lingered in his mind, urging him forward. He decided to take a bold step and create a rune that could replicate a more advanced magical function: healing.

Luth (determined): "If I can create a healing rune, it could be a game-changer."

He knew this would be a significant challenge, but his confidence had grown with each successful experiment. The potential benefits were too great to ignore.

Luth spent hours researching ancient texts and experimenting with various runes, trying to find the right combination. He meticulously inscribed different symbols, blending them in ways that felt instinctively correct. Each attempt brought him closer to his goal, but none of them worked perfectly.

Luth (to himself, frustrated): "There must be a way to make this work."

After countless tries, Luth finally created a rune that he believed could work. The symbols were intricate, interwoven with a complexity that made his head spin.

Luth (to himself, resolute): "Here goes nothing."

He pricked his finger with a small knife, wincing at the sharp pain, and placed it on the rune. As he channeled his mana into the symbols, the rune glowed softly. A warm, soothing sensation spread from his finger, and to his amazement, the cut closed and healed completely.

Luth (excitedly): "I did it! A healing rune!"

The implications of this discovery were staggering. With a healing rune, he could aid those in need, perhaps even save lives. His excitement was tempered by the realization that he was delving into powerful and uncharted magic.

Elesila, growing more suspicious by the day, decided to follow Luth one night. She had noticed his frequent absences and secretive behavior and couldn't shake the feeling that he was hiding something important. As she crept through the darkened hallways of the mansion, she caught sight of Luth in his study, inscribing a new rune.

Elesila (angrily): "I knew you were hiding something! What are you doing, Luth?"

Startled, Luth looked up, his heart pounding. He had been so absorbed in his work that he hadn't heard her approach.

Luth (frustrated): "Elesila, this is my work. I've discovered something amazing, something that could change everything."

Elesila (conflicted): "Why didn't you tell me? We're supposed to be in this together."

Luth sighed, feeling the weight of his secret.

Luth (firmly): "Because I needed to be sure. This power is incredible, but it's also dangerous. I had to understand it before sharing it with anyone."

Elesila's expression softened, but her eyes still held a mix of anger and concern.

Elesila: "You should have trusted me, Luth. We could have worked on this together."

Luth (gently): "I'm sorry, Elesila. I promise, from now on, I'll be more open with you. But please, understand that I had to be careful."

The next day, Luth shared his success with Edris. He couldn't contain his excitement as he demonstrated the healing rune.

Luth: "I've created a healing rune. Look at this."

Edris watched in awe as Luth pricked his finger again and activated the rune, the cut healing instantly.

Edris (amazed): "This is beyond anything I've ever seen. You're on the verge of a monumental discovery."

Luth (confidently): "And I'm just getting started. I'm going to push these runes to their limits."

Edris nodded, his eyes shining with excitement. He had always believed in Luth's potential, but this was something extraordinary.

Edris: "You need to be careful, Luth. This kind of power will attract attention, and not all of it will be good."

Luth (nodding): "I know. But I can't let fear hold me back. The potential here is too great."

Luth decided to test the healing rune further. He found a stray cat in the mansion's courtyard with a nasty cut on its leg. Gently, he approached the animal, who hissed at him but did not run away.

Luth (softly): "Easy, little one. I'm here to help."

He inscribed the healing rune on a piece of parchment and placed it over the cat's wound. As he channeled his mana, the rune glowed, and the wound began to close, the cat's fur growing back over the healed skin.

Luth (whispering): "It's working."

The cat meowed softly, nuzzling Luth's hand in gratitude before scampering off. Luth watched it go, a sense of accomplishment and awe washing over him.

Despite Luth's promise to be more open, Elesila remained suspicious. She couldn't shake the feeling that Luth was still hiding something. She didn't want Luth having their father's support and favor. She began to observe him more closely, watching for any signs of unusual behavior.

One evening, Elesila caught Luth in a moment of distraction. He was inscribing another rune, muttering to himself about its potential.

Elesila (skeptical): "Luth, you're spending a lot of time on these runes. Are you sure you're not in over your head?"

Luth (deflecting, with a chuckle): "It's just a hobby, Elesila. Nothing serious. You know me, always tinkering with something."

Elesila frowned but let the matter drop for the moment. She was determined to find out what Luth was really up to, but she didn't want to push him too hard.

Luth decided to try something even more ambitious. He wanted to see if he could create a rune that could not only heal but also enhance physical abilities. He spent days researching and experimenting, his excitement growing with each new discovery.

Luth (to himself): "If this works, it could change everything."

He inscribed a complex rune on his arm, feeling a surge of energy as he channeled his mana into it. His muscles tensed, and he felt a burst of strength and speed. He tested his newfound abilities, running faster and lifting heavier objects than ever before.

Luth (exhilarated): "Incredible. This is real power."

But as he marveled at his creation, he felt a sudden pain in his arm. The rune began to burn, and he quickly dispelled it, panting as the energy dissipated.

Luth (worried): "I need to be more careful. This power is dangerous.

That night, as Luth was contemplating his next move, there was a knock on his door. It was Edris, looking more serious than usual.

Edris: "Luth, we need to talk. I've been doing some research of my own."

Luth (curious): "What did you find?"

Edris handed him an old scroll.

Edris: "This scroll mentions a forgotten art of runic magic. It's said to be incredibly powerful but dangerous. You need to be careful."

Luth studied the scroll, his eyes widening. The symbols were similar to the ones he had been experimenting with. He realized that he was delving into a long-forgotten magic, one that held great promise but also great peril.

Luth (determined): "Thank you, Edris. I'll be careful. But I can't stop now. "
