"You..." Brendan seethed with anger at the usher's rude response.
However, he dared not create a scene because the Dusit Hotel belonged to the county's wealthiest family, the Monroes.
The Reeds were fortunate enough to receive an invitation. Being chased out over a dispute would be a huge loss! He still has some sense now.
Suppressing their rage, the Reeds entered the hall and took their seats.
Their table, situated near the door and smaller than the others, could have improved their mood. They had no choice but to stick together.
Unlike the other tables adorned with elegant, high-quality tablecloths, theirs had a basic disposable plastic one. It was also bare, lacking water glasses, elaborate flowers, fruit platters, and sophisticated drinks.
Many attendees exchanged odd looks and whispered as they watched the Reeds.
Brendan felt deeply uncomfortable, and Thaddeus couldn't help but feel humiliated seeing smaller families, once considered inferior to the Reeds, seated at more distinguished tables.
"Remember, Brendan, a little impatience can ruin the best plans. Whatever happens, we must contact the host of the dinner first! This is crucial for our comeback. Keep this in mind!" Thaddeus reminded both Brendan and himself. Not to act recklessly during this crucial moment.
"I must endure this. Once the host arrives, we will have our chance for revenge against those who have humiliated us." – Brendan thought to himself. He need to be patient a little bit more.
Claudia, seated at the main table, relished the scrutiny and envy of others. She knew only a few of the guests, so she couldn't engage in conversation. She could only wait to see where Thaddeus and Brendan were seated.
She nearly laughed and scoffed when Claudia saw Thaddeus and the others placed at the shabby small table near the door. This feels fantastic! The Monroes, indeed, are worthy in-laws. They must have discovered how Thaddeus Reed and his family used to bully us and are now standing up for us! Impressive!
Claudia immediately wanted to mock them, but Anastasia stopped her. This is not the time to make a scene.
It's Charlotte's engagement luncheon today, and she'll soon marry a wealthy man. We will also become in-laws with the county's wealthiest family. Why should I bother with those people? Soon, we will no longer be in the same world. I will not lower myself to their level!
The banquet soon began.
After a polite speech thanking the guests, the emcee suddenly gestured to the side. "Now, let's welcome the host of tonight's banquet, Mr. Gideon Boysen, the general manager of Orion Industries!"
Boysen confidently approached the front of the hall, dressed in an impeccably tailored suit, and was greeted enthusiastically by the audience.
Claudia gasped in disbelief. "What? Isn't this the engagement feast for Charlotte and Damien Monroe's son? Why is Mr. Boysen on stage?"
"Mother, be quiet!" Realizing what was happening, Charlotte knew her unreliable mother had misunderstood something. Orion Industries hosted the meal, but it was not an engagement feast! Oh my goodness! This was so embarrassing!
Fortunately, Claudia hadn't bragged to others yet, or she would have been severely embarrassed!
Thaddeus, Brendan, and the rest of the Reeds were equally taken aback.
They initially assumed that the host of tonight's supper was the mysterious businessman who had spent a fortune at the auction. They reasoned that if they got close to him, they wouldn't have to fear Orion Industries and could seize the opportunity to make a comeback.
They never suspected that the invitation had been delivered by the despised Gideon Boysen, who had conspired against them and taken Spark Enterprises.
What exactly does this mean?
Did he purposefully invite us here to disgrace us?
The arrogant usher and the shabby table must have been set there intentionally to humiliate us, right?! This is no coincidence.
The Reeds were livid upon realizing this.
"Damn it!" Brendan was the first to rise, unable to control his emotions.
Brendan Reed, pampered since childhood, had never been humiliated like this!
"Hold it right there!" Thaddeus Reed yelled to stop him.
"Grandfather, they're being incredibly disrespectful!"
"What if they are? Can we compare it to Orion Industries now? We must accept our inferiority, even if it means enduring their insults! When we make a comeback and surpass them, those who once bullied us will kneel before us!" Thaddeus' face was stern, his cheeks trembling slightly.
"Yes, Grandfather, I understand. The Reeds will undoubtedly reemerge with the mysterious tycoon's support! In the future, I will avenge this humiliation!" Brendan exclaimed resentfully, sitting back down.
Boysen smiled as he greeted everyone. "Thank you for taking time out of your hectic schedules to attend this banquet. I am greatly honored."
"Not at all. Mr. Boysen, you're being too polite! We are honored to be invited."
"Yes, being here is a privilege, Mr. Boysen!"
Everyone responded courteously.
Boysen smiled. "There are two main objectives for tonight's banquet. Firstly, I'm pleased to announce that Spark Enterprises will form a long-term strategic collaboration with Orion Industries. I hope we can count on your support."
Many attendees smiled knowingly.
A few days ago, the Reeds inadvertently angered Orion Industries, resulting in the loss of Spark Enterprises. Those in the know were aware of this.
Boysen spoke of a long-term strategic alliance with Spark Enterprises, but Orion Industries had acquired the company. Since the Orion Industries had yet to be restructured, it was more accurate to call it an acquisition.
Countless eyes turned towards the Reeds.
On the other hand, the Reeds felt an overwhelming urge to flee the dining hall as soon as Boysen made his announcement! So humiliating!
