Ambervale Island
Blaze had always admired Savannah from a distance, feeling a deep connection. She was all about getting things done and always thought of others before herself. Watching her now, bustling around in the morning light, his heart filled with admiration.
But today felt different. He couldn't just watch her do everything on her own anymore. "Going somewhere?" Blaze asked, his voice curious as he walked up to her.
Savannah didn't skip a beat, answering straight away. "To the mountains. There's a pregnant woman who's been craving berries for days. She can't get them herself, and the paths are washed out, so I'm heading up to find some for her."
Blaze raised an eyebrow, looking at her. "So you took charge?" Savannah nodded, her eyes showing a quiet resolve.
Blaze nodded and spoke up, "Alright, let's do it." His quick agreement caught her off guard.
He didn't ask why or how; he just jumped in to help. That's just how Blaze was always backing her up, ready to follow her lead, no matter what. "You're coming too?" she asked, a bit surprised.
"Yeah," Blaze said, his eyes softening as he smiled at her. "Let's go. It might take a while to get up there."
Savannah paused for a second but then followed Blaze up the mountain, just like she always trusted him to do.
Mountains
Two hours had passed, and Blaze and Savannah were in the mountains.
The path was rough, still slippery from last night's rain. Blaze moved confidently, helping her over rocks and roots, always watching out for her safety.
"How high is it?" Blaze asked after a bit, looking back at Savannah who was right behind him.
"They said it's at the top," Savannah said, trying to catch her breath. "I don't think we're even halfway there yet."
Blaze didn't say anything. He just kept going, his steps steady and focused. He knew this mountain was tough, and he wanted to help Savannah through it.
He needed to make it easier for her. But then, just when the mountain seemed to get steeper, Savannah tripped.
Her foot hit a wet rock, and she twisted her ankle. She was about to fall when Blaze quickly grabbed her arm.
Savannah's heart pounded as she felt his strong hand holding her up. His touch was cold and firm, and for a moment, all her worries disappeared. She looked up at him, breathing hard.
"Look over there," she said as her eyes caught something bright in the distance, pointing to something off to the side.
Blaze turned and followed her finger, seeing a field of orange poppies bursting with color among the mountain's wildness.
The poppies stood out brilliantly against the deep green trees and rough landscape. Savannah's face lit up. "Wow..." she whispered, as she moved from Blaze's grip to stepping closer to the flower, her eyes wide with joy.
Blaze smiled at her. Seeing her so happy and at peace in this beautiful spot made everything feel perfect. For a moment, nothing else mattered. It was just her, the flowers, and him.
Savannah crouched down by the flowers, taking a deep breath of their sweet smell. "Can I just stay here?" she whispered, almost to herself.
Blaze stood there, watching her, feeling his heart swell. He loved seeing her so happy. On impulse, he took out his phone and snapped a photo of her among the flowers, a moment she'd never know he captured.
Savannah plucked a yellow flower, admiring its delicate petals, then stood up and walked back to Blaze. She held the flower up, her eyes shining.
"Let me make you pretty," she said, with a playful sparkle in her eyes.
Blaze was confused but stayed still, letting her do what she wanted. When Savannah gently put the flower behind his ear, he felt a warm, comfy feeling spread through him, something he couldn't really explain.
For a moment, nothing else seemed to matter-just seeing her smile brighten up his whole world.
"Let me capture it." Savannah said as she the phone out of her bag. Blaze wasn't used to being the focus like this, but with Savannah, it just felt right.
He gave her a soft, real smile. As soon as she took the photo, his heart skipped a beat. Her smile meant everything to him. It made the world feel perfect, like everything was exactly where it should be.
"You look cute," Savannah said, and the words hit Blaze like a spark. His smile grew wider, and right then, Blaze realized just how much he cared about Savannah.
It wasn't just admiration or respect. It was something deeper, something really meaningful.
Standing there in the mountains, surrounded by poppies and the beauty of nature, Blaze knew that no matter what happened next, this moment would stay with him forever.
Back to Ambervale Island
Arthur who had came to the Island with his Boss, Blaze, not expecting things to turn out like this.
Arthur stood outside, still dressed in his suit, wondering why he bothered to stay so formal în such a wild place.
Looking around for something to do, he spotted Elijah. The young guy was outside, carving wood with careful skill. Arthur knew Elijah was a there for Savannah, pitching in wherever he could. Arthur headed over, straightening his tie as he went, his polished steps feeling a bit odd in the rough, natural setting.
"Hey, Elijah," Arthur called out as he got closer, his voice cutting through the island's quiet.
Elijah looked up from what he was doing, gave a small smile, and wiped his hands on his pants. "Arthur," he said, putting down the piece of wood and standing up.
"What's up?" Arthur took a moment to think. There was something about Elijah that he admired, even if he couldn't quite put his finger on it. He was like a little brother to him.
Elijah had this calm, easygoing vibe that seemed a bit out of place in their structured world. But then again, Arthur didn't really fit in there either.
"Want to take a walk?" Arthur asked, pointing toward the seashore. Elijah nodded and they headed toward the waves.
The cool ocean breeze felt great. The air smelled like salt and wet earth, and the sun was low in the sky, making long shadows on the sand.
Arthur was quiet for a bit, thinking about how to ask his question. "So," Arthur began, looking out at the horizon, "How's it been for you here? You've been working with the locals, helping out, doing all sorts of stuff. How do you feel about it?"
Elijah shrugged, hands in his pockets, as they walked. "It's been great, really. Refreshing, you know? I've never had the chance to just focus on helping people without all the usual distractions. Here, it's different. Feels more real." Arthur nodded, lost in thought.
He'd seen how much Elijah had gotten into the island's daily life, always lending a hand, whether it was helping folks hit by the flood or just taking care of the land. But there was still something about his relationship with Savannah that Arthur couldn't quite figure out.
"About you and Savannah," Arthur said after a moment. "I've noticed you two seem pretty close. You guys have some kind of nickname thing going on? How did that start?" Elijah's lips curved into a small, warm smile at the mention of Savannah.
"She's a great person," he said, looking out at the ocean as if the answer was in the waves. "When I first got here, she made sure I felt welcome. I was here to protect her, and it could've been really awkward. But she was so nice. She made me feel like a friend instead of just another person at work. We started chatting, and the nicknames just happened naturally."
Arthur listened closely, his mind racing as he took in what Elijah said. Savannah had a way of making people feel important and heard.
But Arthur wondered if it was just her kindness or if there was more to it. "So, are you sure there's nothing going on between you two?" Arthur asked, trying to sound casual but curious. "Sometimes, actions speak louder than words, you know." Elijah didn't flinch.
He kept looking out at the ocean, like he was searching for answers in the waves. After a long pause, he finally replied, "Don't worry about it. She's a great person. I'm happy just being her friend."
Arthur studied him closely, feeling there was more to the story than Elijah was sharing, but he didn't push it.
He didn't want to make things weird between them, especially with someone like Savannah involved.
"I don't like that she's being lied to, though," Elijah said quietly, his voice getting more serious. Arthur turned to look at him, surprised by the change.
Elijah's face had tensed up, and there was a hint of worry in his eyes. "Shush," Arthur whispered, looking around to make sure no one else was close by. "Keep your voice down. People would listen."
Elijah nodded, but his frustration was obvious. "I just don't like what's happening around her. She deserves so much better."
Arthur let out a breath and rubbed the back of his neck as they kept walking along the shore. "Savannah's meant to be here with Blaze, Elijah. If she's strong enough, she'll figure it out. Whatever's got her down."
Elijah looked at Arthur but stayed quiet for a bit. Arthur could see the struggle on his face, the same doubts that often popped up in his own head when he thought about Blaze and Savannah.
"But Blaze is happy," Arthur added, hoping to make things better. "In the end, that's all that counts. Whatever else happens... it's not up to us to step in."
Elijah didn't say anything. He just nodded quietly, but Arthur could see the words didn't really help.
The waves kept crashing on the shore, and for a while, they both walked in silence, each deep in their own thoughts.
Mountains
As evening fell, Savannah and Blaze made it to the mountaintop. Savannah was already looking around and muttered, "Where are those berries?" But Blaze had already seen them. "They're over there, Ana." He pointed to a group of trees loaded with bright red berries. Savannah hurriedly walked to them.
Blaze followed her, laughing softly as he watched her pick the berries and admire how fresh they were. "These are so fresh," she said, showing him a handful.
Blaze moved in, excited to help. "Let me give you a hand," he said, reaching out to grab more berries. Savannah popped a berry into her mouth, her lips turning a deep red.
She then held out her palm to Blaze. "Try some," she said. Blaze turned to her and his eyes landed at her lips, where some juice had smeared.
He caught his breath and stepped closer. He gently wiped the juice off her lips with his thumb. Then, he put his same thumb in his mouth, savoring the sweet taste.
"Hmm, sweet," he said softly, a quiet soft admirable face on.
Savannah stopped dead, her heart pounding.
Her eyes went wide with surprise, and she couldn't find the words to speak. Her mind was spinning, trying to figure out what just happened.
Blaze, not noticing the impact of his touch, went back to picking berries like nothing was out of the ordinary.
But for Savannah, everything felt frozen. She was trying hard to understand the sudden flutter in her chest.
