Mountains
Savannah had never been through a storm like this one. The wind was so strong it shook the trees, and the air smelled like wet dirt.
Her heart was pounding as she tried to keep her balance. The rain was coming down in big, heavy drops, making every step on the mountain path super dangerous. Blaze, who was always so calm, grabbed her hand tight and led her through the dark forest with steady steps.
His hold was strong and protective, but there was something else too-something she couldn't quite put her finger on.
She felt his presence, but it didn't bother her; instead, she was really grateful for it.
As they went deeper into the woods, Blaze looked around, scanning the area. He was searching hard, his eyes sharp, until finally, he saw a little shelter hidden among the trees. Without saying a word, he pulled her along and headed straight for it.
The shelter was small but cozy, just enough to keep them dry from the rain.
Once inside, Blaze started checking the place out carefully, moving fast and keeping his eyes sharp. Savannah stayed by the entrance, not sure what to do but trusting Blaze completely.
She watched him quietly, noticing how deliberate his moves were and how calm he seemed. His steady presence was actually kind of comforting.
"Stay here," he said in a low but firm voice. She nodded without hesitation and stood in the corner while Blaze went further into the shelter.
His shadow blended into the dim light. The storm raged outside, the pitter-patter of rain constantly reminding them they were stuck there.
Savannah's mind drifted as she watched the rain pour down.
She felt uncertain and had this unspoken desire gnawing at her. She and Blaze had shared a quiet but strong connection for a while in the past.
But being alone with him in this small shelter made everything feel different.
She couldn't ignore it anymore; there was something between them, something heavy in the air.
Blaze came back with some wood and a matchstick. He didn't waste time and knelt by the firepit, getting the wood to light up. Soon, the fire caught, and the warm, flickering light filled the space. Blaze turned to her and said softly, "Come inside," his voice calm and comforting.
Savannan moved closer to the fire, teeling its warmth wrap around her like a cozy blanket.
Blaze placed a small wooden stool for her to sit on, Savannah sat on without saying anything and watched the fire.
Blaze scooted to one side, sitting a bit farther away but still watching her closely.
For a while, neither of them said anything. The only sounds were the crackling fire and the storm raging outside their shelter. There was some tension in the air, something more than just the storm.
His thoughts were interrupted when he noticed her closely. He realized her hair was all wet and clung to her neck from the rain.
Without saying a word, Blaze got up, moving quietly but with purpose. He reached into his pocket, pulled out a small cloth, and went behind her.
Savannah looked back up at him with his sudden uncalled movement. "What are you even doing?" She questioned.
Blaze softly said, "Stay still, or you'll catch a cold" he added "And you don't want that as people on the Island still need you." This was enough for him keep her shush about it without any further word.
He started drying her hair. He was gentle but serious, like he was enjoying the moment. Savannah froze, not sure how to feel.
His warm touch made something inside Savannah relax. She nodded, letting him keep going.
After a while, it got quiet, but the silence felt different-like it had a weight to it, and neither of them wanted to talk about it.
A bolt of lightning flashed suddenly, and they both looked towards the shelter's entrance. The storm was raging, and the thunder was loud enough to shake the ground.
"Guess we're stuck here for the night" Savannah said, breaking the silence.
Blaze nodded, his eyes fixed on her as he kept drying her hair. Every move was slow and careful, like he was savoring every moment they were so close.
Few hours later
A few hours later, Savannah woke up.
She blinked, confused, as her eyes adjusted to the dim light inside the shelter. The fire had died down to embers, giving off a soft glow arourid the room.
She moved a bit and realized she was lying on the ground, wrapped in Blaze's jacket. She didn't remember falling asleep, but the warmth of the jacket was nice.
She sat up and looked around, but Blaze wasn't there. Her eyes landed on the door, and she saw that the rain had stopped. She stepped outside and looked around, hoping to see him.
But the sight in front of her took her breath away.
Below, the ocean spread out, the water shimmering faintly in the dark night. The scenery was stunning, even more beautiful than day light. She hadn't paid much attention when they first got there, too busy with the storm and the shelter, but now, standing there, something stirred inside her. "What a view," she whispered to herself.
"I know, right?" a voice said from behind her, and Savannah spun around.
Blaze was standing there, looking warm and soft. "Where were you?" she asked, curious.
"Was looking for some more wood," he replied, glancing at the ocean for a second before focusing back on her.
Savannah nodded and looked back towards the horizon. She couldn't look away; it was just stunning. There was this heavy feeling in the air, and she got lost in it.
"You know, the mansion feels really quiet these days," Blaze said, breaking the silence. Savannah frowned, trying to figure out what he meant.
Blaze continued, his voice soft but full of pain and thoughtfulness. "It feels so empty without you there. I missed seeing you every day. I missed hearing your laughter around the house. I missed your beautiful face every morning and night."
Savannah swallowed hard, feeling a lump in her throat, His words hit her right in the heart, like a gentle punch, "I really wanted to do this... but something halted me" Blaze said softly, moving closer.
"I never told you how I felt. I always neglected you, even when you were all open with your feelings with me. I was blind and ended up hurting you inside because of it."
Savannah's heart skipped a beat as Blade with his swift movement spun her around so he could see her face up close, held her even close snaking his left arm around her tiny waist.
"I'm sorry I wasn't clear enough. I always acted like I didn't care, and I see now how much that must have hurt you."
Blaze reached out and gently touched her face, his thumb brushing her cheek.
His warm touch made her catch her breath. His eyes were intense, searching hers for something- maybe some kind of confirmation.
"I love you, Ana."
Blaze finally said.
The words spilling out like he had been waiting to say them forever.
Savannah froze, her heart pounding.
Her eyes went wide, and she stepped back without thinking. "If you're joking, Blaze, this isn't funny," she said, her voice serious.
But inside, she was a mess of emotions. Blaze's smile softened, and he moved closer. "I get why you might be surprised," he said. "But I love you, Savannah. I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
Savannah's breath caught as she heard his words.
She had no idea how to answer. Her mind was all over the place with different feelings. She never imagined Blaze would admit his feelings.
They had always just been friends-well, that's what she thought anyway that was from Blaze's side.
Now, with him standing there, so open and vulnerable, her heart started racing. She wasn't sure what to do, but she felt pulled towards him.
Before she knew it, she took a step closer, meeting him halfway. "I-" Savannah paused not knowing how to respond.
"You don't feel the same way now?" Blaze questioned her, thinking the it might be the reason for her half finished sentence.
"No, it's not like that."
Savannah immediately said which relieved Blaze's heart, "So you do feelings for me." Savannah just nodded.
"What's the matter Savannah?" Blaze asks softly as he saw her face with a mix if enotions that can't be fully understood.
The silence once again engulfed them, Savannah stood still looking beneath the ground and Blaze looking at her for answers.
Savannah shredded a drop of tears.
She looked up at Blaze, her eyes said and filled with tears, and soon they rolled down her soft cheeks, seeing this Blaze moved closer to her and cupped her cheeks "Are you fine, Ana?"
"What happened?"
The worry was visible on Blaze's face, he was scared.
He couldn't bear to see her crying. More alot because of him? Never.
"Why did you do this to me?" Instead Savannah questioned back to him, Blaze twitched his brows in utter confusion.
"Why would you not confess back then?"
"You know how hurt it was getting for me?"
Savannah asked him as she dropped one after another drop of tears.
Blaze smiled, cupped her face more closely and made her look at himself, "I'm sorry, Ana." He said as he wiped her tears with his both of thumbs "I'm really sorry." He again said.
"If you want, you can punish me however you'd like." Savannah met his eyes and glared at him with her red and tearful eyes.
"But stop crying for now, Honey."
Honey?
The word honey, made Savannah feel something at her heart and her head.
"I believe you" she finally whispers, her voice shaking. "Eyes don't lie, I can see the truth now."
Blaze smiled and started lowering his both arms from her cheeks to her tiny waist and pulled her closer.
His arms wrapped around her waist, feeling her warmth against him.
It felt like everything had changed, the world settling in a way that was both overwhelming and comforting.
"I love you, Ana,"
Blaze said, his voice full of joy.
"I love you, Blaze"
Savannah whispered back, her heart soaring.
In that quiet moment, everything outside just disappeared.
All that mattered was the connection between them.
Blaze leaned in and captured her soft, delicate lips.
