Claire paced her room, her mind racing. How would she ask Anthony about her mother staying with them?
What if he reacted angrily to it? She thought, but she had no choice. Her mother needed care, and this was the only solution she could come up with.
She also thought about how she was going to tell her mum about her arrangement with Anthony. She knew her mother wouldn't approve of it and might scold her. She might even refuse to stay in Anthony's house in protest, but Claire had to find a way to convince her and make her understand why she took the decision.
She heard the sound of a car entering through the gate and knew Anthony must be home. Her anxiety increased and she tried to calm herself down.
"It'll be fine, he's not a monster." She said to herself.
After a while, Claire took a deep breath, straightened her dress, and made her way downstairs. She found him in the living room, pouring himself a glass of whiskey.
