There are two things a person needs when he works 24/7 hours daily. one, some beauty sleep, and two, a raise. But who would have expected me, Katherine Fowler, to have such thoughts of relaxation when all I do is work, and more work, and even more work.
These past twenty-four hours have been exhausting since I had to save a small city in Italy, Atrani, from self-absorbed highjackers who were trading illegal nuclear power weapons to terrorists. The mission was a success since I single-handedly fought all the members and left no survivors.
Not gonna lie, I loved it when I successfully handled the missions assigned to me, but what I don't love is why do my colleagues make such a big deal of it. Like right now, the moment I'm going to step inside my office, they would go crazy with all the party poppers and snow sprays. It's not a stupid birthday party.
Therefore, I ignored my office and went straight down to the Hall to give my brief report to my boss, aka my guardian, Willson Fowler. Just two knocks and the door opens, clearing my vision to a simple yet large office with transparent glass windows and a huge desk with intense paperwork, status charts, and a white mug which I gifted my boss on his last birthday with the title I adopted two badass punks and I'm proud of them.
He rotated his chair to 180 degrees till I saw his face, jawline smooth, his black-grey hair pulled back, and he wore his best suit and tie for no reason. His blue eyes looked at me, speaking 'report', at least that's what I thought.
I began with my report, my status update, and my medical checks. I told him everything he needed to know but still, he didn't look satisfied. Then just for a second, I stopped as soon as he raised his hand and I exactly knew where this conversation was going.
'My dear Katherine', He stood up, 'Why am I seeing you here with your report, when you should be celebrating'.
He knew why, It's cause I'm irritated by it and don't want any involvement in it, but he doesn't understand. 'Sir, this is work, and this has to be taken seriously, and besides, I celebrated your birthday, doesn't that count enough'.
'We celebrated your birthday sir, isn't that right Kat'. I knew this voice, and I wish I didn't.
'Felix! My boy, just in time' Willson passed me and hugged who I not so trusting brother, 'please tell your sister the importance of friendship'.
Felix Fowler, my brother on paper and also by love, we shared the same streets from the beginning. He turned out to be kind, lovable, and also annoying while I was the opposite of him.
'Dear sister', Felix approached me and hugged me as he used to, 'Please for God's sake, smile, you have beauty and charisma, but your cold stares just scare the living shit out of everyone'.
'Maybe this will help me stay away from boys', I said while twisting his hand. He was really good at annoying people like he was with tech. 'She's right lad', Willson popped between us, 'You have no idea how nasty men these days can be'.
For once I agreed with him, men are nothing but trash is what I think considering the cheating movies I watched with Felix. God, I wished to punch those suckers on the ___
'Hey Kat, you okay', Felix waved his hand across my face, 'You okay daughter?', Willson looked back at me.
'Yeah', I replied to them, 'You know since I completed my work and all, I think there is nothing for me to do here'. Translation: I wanna go home and sleep entangled in my fuzzy blanket.
'Yeah, you can go home, but first, let's celebrate with your colleagues, huh, what do you say?'. Willson was asking for a death wish but I couldn't kill him, and I also didn't wish to disappoint him.
I sighed before I looked at Felix, 'Take me away to hell bulldogs'. They both held my arm and brought me to my office with everyone shouting and cheering. Applause there, applause here, and what, oh yeah, the fricken confetti, what did I expect this is an international security agency.

The next day I was greeted yet again at work, The weather was good, the sky seemed clear, and the office environment was also good, nothing beats a fresh day. I made my way to the resource office where the agents were having a meeting.Â
On my way, I met with Sonata and Kevin. They are top five agents like me, and they are always productive in their talks but today, something feels off, as they looked worried.
I tried not to get this on my mind and headed towards the not-so-empty room. Some agents were already waiting while others were reviewing their reports. I found Felix who saved a seat for me.
He smiled as I approached him, 'Ooo~ someone slept like a baby last night that she wasn't giving her blanky back for cleaning'. This bastard, I was gonna kill him if he hadn't gotten us breakfast from Sweet and Savoury.
I snatched the croissant and coffee from him. He looked pleased but I was in a really good mood when I took a bite of the croissant, the chocolate melted in my mouth and the coffee balanced the taste. While I was finishing my breakfast, Willson entered. We all were surprised but he assured us that Mr. Griffon was not in town and that he would take his place till he was back.
All the agents were given their assignments, and they were all badass. At last, Willson came towards me, his eyes dull, meaning this was serious and time-consuming. He waited till every agent was out of the room, and once they were out he dimmed the lights.
And the second no one wanted to see was the picture of thugs taking in drugs from their noses, mouths, ears and you know where. It was disgusting and horrifying, even Felix covered his eyes.
'What's your reason for showing these disgusting pictures of disgusting men'. My head towards Willson, eyes away from the screen, and if I look at it for another second, I might puke out my croissant.
Willson switched the screen to show us a picture of a man who was dealing drugs, then another picture of another man dealing drugs, and like that there were eight pictures of drug dealings. 'See any similarities?' He asked as he switched the pictures.Â
I gave another second to spot two similarities, 'One, the dealing locations are near local restaurants, meaning targeting common classed families or those with poor liabilities. Two all the drug dealers have a logo of a flower, a sunflower.'
That's all I could give him and I knew he looked pleased. Felix solved the flower case that it was a logo of a strong, wealthy Real Estate company called Lance Real Estates.
'Lance Real Estate is one of the greatest real estate companies in the country, having more money than could satisfy a man for a million years, we still can't find anything about it'. Another screen showed us a picture of a buff yet dangerous man, his brown hair perfectly pulled back and his jawline perfectly aligned with his face. 'This is Maximilian Lance, the son of Cardwin Lance and the latest CEO of Lance company', Willson continued, 'Despite his gangsterish appearance he has a good GPA in his college and university exams, plus his company status is very high'.
Impressive indeed, 'Your mission is to spy on Mr. Lance, CEO of Lance Real Estates, for that, you have to be close, as the agents have assigned you as his secretary, and till we can get his alibi, make sure to secure him. I hope I made myself clear Agent', Willson finished switching off the screen.
I faced Felix who was also thinking what I was thinking. 'Sir' I raised my hand, 'With all due respect, a secretary, I mean what happens if I don't get that position, and what if he is the real villain and I just got you the wrong evidence.'
Willson pointed his direction to Felix, and Felix looking at him, pointed his direction to me. 'Felix, why don't you help your sister with this one? His tech and your tactics could solve this mystery. What do you say?'.
Felix wasn't the crime-fighting type, he was more of a you take rest, I will finish your work, something about this made me worried but Felix agreed to it. I guess we were moving to D.C, so much for a relaxing day.
Mr. Lance, I wonder what kind of person are you?
