In the next scene, we can see that it was already midnight and it was raining heavily with thunderstorms all around.
Rumble Rumble
The human camp which was located a few kilometers away from the river and was just at the edge of the Jungle where the density of the trees was much less was perfect and very suitable for the humans to camp. Because this was a place not too deep within the forest nor too far away from the wildlife this was one of the perfect and most preferable spots for the British army to camp and spend their jungle outing.
This was because if they camped too deep within the forest then there was always a chance of getting attacked by the wild animals of the forest and if they camped outside the forest near the villages where the Indians lived then they might not get any views of exciting and rare animals because they had come here to spend some free time before reporting to their headquarters to the East India Company.
Initially, they had come out to catch some of the Indian vigilantes who call themselves freedom fighters. Because they had got some input from some of the villagers that there was some activity in the forest and a lot of Indian Vigilantes were hiding deep within the forest to revolt against the British government. The people who gave them the input were traitors of their own community who could sell themselves and their country for money.
After all, Indians were colonized because they were not united among themselves and the British East India Company took advantage of this and used the policy of divide and rule. The traitors of the community only helped them to colonize them a little quicker and had become their information network because if there was any news of revolt they got the information and before the revolt could become something big the British would act and serve appropriate punishments on the vigilantes to set an example so that no other Indian can raise their head to oppose them in the future.
But in the end, they were not successful in capturing any of the Indian vigilantes so they decided to camp here before returning to the headquarters and report about their failures.
Since they were in the jungle already so why shouldn't they have some fun time?
Now since they were camping in the wilderness they had to place some guards to safeguard them from any sudden attacks that might happen from the vigilantes.
Also placing the guards in the openings of the camp will also scram any of the wild animals that may come in their direction by mistake and ensure their safety.
Austin and David were two junior officers of the British East India Company just like Albert. It was their turn to guard the camp this time around. So they were patrolling the camp to follow the orders of their senior officers.
Austin said: "The weather was so good in the daytime but now look at it all raining and lightning."
Then again there was lightening with a flash of light in the sky.
Rumble Rumble
David said: "This weather is so unpredictable. I never thought that there would be so much rain and lightning tonight because in the daytime the sky was all blue and sunny also there was no trace of a cloud to be found but look at it now who would have thought there would be such heavy rainfall in the night."
David and Austin were conversing among themselves about the sudden change in the weather as they were discussing normally there was again a huge Rumble and a blinding flash.
RUMBLE RUMBLE RUMBLE
But in this blinding flash, Austin was able to see for a split second an outline of a savage beast barring its fangs and blood dripping from its mouth staring at them with menacing eyes.
Austin shouted: "Hey! Who's there?"
David flashed his torchlight in the bushes towards the direction in which Austin had pointed and shouted out but could not see any trace of any living being.
David asked with confusion: "What happened Austin did you see someone out there? I cannot see anyone."
Now that the flashlight was on they were not able to see anyone out there so Austin himself was confused as to exactly what he saw at that point in time or if was it just an illusion so he could not say anything.
After all, they were the military forces of the British East India Company so they couldn't be afraid or his friends would be teasing him all his life and there will be a stain on his reputation that he was a coward and he was afraid and used to see things at night. Being a part of an elite force would be a very humiliating thing for a military officer so he would never admit that he was afraid.
Austin said: "Nah it was nothing. I was just being vigilant to make sure that I could catch one of those Indian freedom fighters to teach them a lesson."
David said: "Oh come on Austin. Till now we were not able to find any one of them on this trip. Do you think now we will catch some when we have come so near the headquarters of the East India Company? According to me this whole information was wrong and it was just a ruse to divert the attention of our East India Company officers by these Indian Villagers. I am sure once we return the higher officials will punish those people who dared to pass false information to East India Company and then we had to go through so much hassle."
Rumble Rumble
Just when they were turning around to patrol the other side of the camp there was another lightening and a flash and both of them could see an outline of a beast who was leaping towards them with its open maw dripping with blood as it pounced on David and with one sweep motion of its mighty paw on David's shoulders his head was already severed from his body as his life faded away from his body.
Austin was shocked and astounded by the sheer power of the beast with which it attacked and panic gripped him. Immediately he fired a few rounds of bullets.
Bang Bang Bang
ROAR ROAR
But the beast was very agile and dodged and then attacked him with his open maw on his neck to his horror it pounced on him tearing his head from his shoulders as he felt his life fading away.
