Chapter 56 - Last Dance

"Interesting," Alexander Walker said to himself.

The other Walkers turned to face their patriarch in surprise. Out of all the four fights that had taken place, this was the first one he ever commented on, much less stating his interest in it.

"That William is quite the fighter, is he not, father?" Serena Walker spoke. She was the eldest daughter of the Walker children. She shared the same vibrant green eyes as her brother Nero and their father. Her long snow-white hair was tied back in a ponytail touching the back of her black silk dress.

"William is impressive," Alexander concurred. "But he is not the one I find interesting,"

Her father's response took Serena aback. Her shock was immediately replaced by annoyance when she heard a laugh. It came from Alexander's youngest biological son, Rowan Walker. Rowan had curly white hair and dreamy yellow eyes. His mouth was perched in a manner that made his face seem catlike. Despite the occasion, he wore a large grey shirt with a red pentagram and pyjama pants.

"Is there something funny, Rowan?" She asked.

"Not right now," He smiled. "I just remembered a joke I heard a couple of years ago,"

Serena glared at her brother. Had they been somewhere she would have definitely done something to him. Fortunately for him, they were in the presence of their father. She resigned herself to doing nothing, returning her attention to the match. Alexander's attention was laser-focused on Sola. His bulging veins reminded him about someone his father had told him about a man who could control his blood. He had initially thought his son's student, Daniel was related to that person but now he was of a different inclination.

Sweat dripped from William's brow as he did his best to avoid an onslaught of spear thrusts. He kept stomping, clapping and snapping his fingers to put some distance between him and Sola but no matter how far he got, the grey-haired man closed the gap. With one single step and a thrust from his spear any distance that had been cleared by the blue-haired man was immediately closed. The noise of the attacks made him irritated as several grey arrows flew past his eyes.

For Sola, this was now a test. Throughout his training with Ordan, he had resigned himself to not using his blood to see how far he could go without relying on some form of superhuman strength. He was unaware of how far he could push himself now that his body was weaker. Right now, he had his adrenaline rush at maximum to gauge how far his body could last with it before collapsing like last time. If he could beat William before that happened, he would no longer use that much power beyond that time limit. If not...

He pushed the thought out of his mind. Now was not the time to be pessimistic. Now, he had to win. He thrust his spear towards his opponent's face. William whistled and attached an arrow to the tip of the spear. The arrow pushed the spear away from his face having it hit the left side of his headphone. Arrows began to flood his left eye. William's face contorted as he placed his left hand over his ear, trying desperately to silence the noise but to no avail.

He let out a yell of frustration spewing forth a volley of arrows towards Sola. The grey-haired man was shot off his feet as William's Revel-infused voice came crashing into him. He quickly stabbed the yari into the ground before he could get knocked out of the ring. Out of breath and low on Revel, William fell to one knee. With his last bit of strength, the blue-haired man pushed himself up to his feet, determination filling his eyes.

"I'm not done yet," He signed.

Sola's grey eyes met William's blue. He began to whirl his yari around creating a tornado of arrows that surrounded him. William began to stomp his foot rhythmically creating an arrow that gradually grew louder with the sound. He infused the arrow with the last bit of Revel he had and shot himself towards the spear-wielding man. He tried to land a punch on him but Sola evaded the attack. He swiped up with the yari's blade, cutting William's chin as he threw his head backwards. The grey arrows completely overwhelmed his right eye, blinding him completely. Just then, a fist connected with the right side of his face, sending his headphones off as he was knocked to the ground.

William got to his feet and tried to find where Sola was. However, his sight was completely obscured by an infinite amount of arrows. With no other option left to him, William began to sign.

"I yield,"

The crowd began to cheer wildly at the victory. Sola picked up William's headphones and placed them over his ears.

"I guess this song was better the second time," William frowned before flipping Sola off and walked off the arena.

"Ladies and gentlemen, there you have it!" The announcer exclaimed. "The fourth match of the day has concluded with Sola as our victor! We'll be here again same time tomorrow for our next heart-pumping, pulse racing matches! Till then, good day and good night!"

Sola strapped his yari on his back and made his way to the waiting room. As he approached the entrance Gregori came out of the room to greet him.

"Congratulations!" The copper-haired man exclaimed. He reached out his hand to shake him.

"Thank you," Sola replied as he obliged him.

"Now we'll have to fight each other in our next match. I look forward to seeing you fight,"

"And I look forward to beating you,"

Gregori smiled at him. Just then, Ordan came storming in flailing around his partisan, Adeola and the others close behind.

"You fucking rascal!" The oldman yelled. "I give you a spear and you treat it like a chisel?! You're dead!"

A cold sweat came over Sola as he ran away from the spear master. As they all chased after each other, Gregori was left in the hallway by himself. The smile on his face faded as he held his triangular pendant and gave a prayer.
