It had been four days since Proxer and Jogrin departed, and the day was the same day as when both Proxer and Suzannia met Jogrin together.
Back when Kapel first arrived at the military base which was under Proxer's supervision, he urged the soldiers to write a report about the previous incident. However, he received a call from the king's secretary.
She told Kapel that he should wait for another person to arrive before beginning the interrogation, and that other person was Captain Ryov of the Second Order of the Royal Knights.
Since the secretary had higher authority than him, he had no choice but to comply.
A group of soldiers were sitting on long benches, as they all looked angsty. Some were glancing around, while some were praying. They numbered around 200, and every single one of them were directly under the command of Proxer Maladin. However, since their Commander was given a leave, they were currently under another Commander, the Grand Commander Grunmyt Kapel, as well as Captain Ryov..
And now, Kapel was interrogating them one by one, about the bombardment incident at the hospital where Jogrin stayed.
Since they remembered nothing about the incident, other than before and after, their answers to his questioning were pretty much the same, just as Jogrin's predicted.
Frustrated, Kapel tapped his fingers against the iron table which produced clearly audible banging noises. Despite that, he didn't blame or reprimand any of the soldiers for their inability to provide satisfactory answers.
"I believe it's time to take a break, Grand Commander Kapel." Captain Ryov suggested.
"Perhaps so, but I cannot afford to lose precious time."
"You mean the alien boy who went with Commander Maladin?"
"Indeed. I can never trust an individual who blames everything on supernatural phenomenon. I would not be surprised if he was plotting heinously."
"Do you plan to go to where Commander Maladin dwells and oversee him yourself?"
"Yes, there can be no other way."
Because of Kapel's steadfast attitude, Captain Ryov decided against trying to dissuade him. Instead, it might be better to inquire about what exactly Kapel wished to do.
"I know about your relationship with Commander Maladin, so are you going to live in his house?"
"It depends on whether Jogrin is actually living in it. Knowing Maladin's wife, she would certainly be against the idea. If that is the case, I will stay in a place that allows to closely supervise him."
"Let's say he's now settled in somewhere far away from town, like in a cave, or an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere, you'd still do as you said?"
"Indeed. He is too dangerous to be left alone. That is why, I have to finish my task here, and immediately travel to the neighborhood."
"I see... And if all the soldiers aren't able to give answers that can solve the mystery behind the bombardment, will you trust in the boy's words?"
"While they might sound absurd, they are not to be disregarded."
Kapel's opinion on the matter was reasonable and logical, except how he'd go the extra mile so that he could constantly keep a close eye on Jogrin. While some might think that he was being a little over-the-top, they couldn't exactly call him out for that.
That was because the exact extent of his powers and the threat that he posed was unknown.
In fact, there was no way to know how Jogrin managed to protect Proxer from all the barrage bullets and missiles, since the soldiers lost their memories of it.
Looking at the terrain when Kapel arrived at the scene, only the land behind Jogrin was intact. On the other hand, the injuries that were supposed to be sustained by him were also nowhere to be seen, except for the few amount of holes on the purple rob.
"Hold on..."
"Did you remember something?"
"The robe he was wearing..."
"Ah... Yeah. We didn't give him a change of clothes. Frankly, I slightly feel bad about that, though he didn't seem to care..."
"While I do believe he should have been given that... that was not what I am referring to."
"Oh... Do you mind telling me then?"
Kapel, having had a revelation about the purple robe, said to Captain Ryov, who misunderstood. He froze in awkwardness, but still pursued answers from Kapel.
"First of all, did you find it strange that were not any signs of burn on the purple robe?"
"Now that you mention it..."
"There was actually one which was barely noticeable."
"Where was it?"
"At the edge of the sleeve around his right arm."
"Hmm... I didn't catch that, unfortunately... But why only there?"
"I do not know. There are just too many uncertain factor about this alien boy."
Both Kapel and Captain Ryov didn't speak another word as they were deep in thought. Stopping a bullet was already something unimaginable for them, let alone stopping multiple of those plus dozens of missiles, and coming out unscathed at that.
In other words, it meant that Jogrin could potentially do more than just stopping bullets and missiles.
What was the deal with his right arm? Why was the sleeve on his right arm the only area that was burnt? Barely at that? What about his left arm?
"There are still half of the unit remaining. Shall we continue with the interrogation?"
"Yes... But isn't calling this an interrogation a little... It's just asking some questions..."
"I believe that defines as interrogation."
Albeit Captain Ryov preferring not to refer this session as interrogation, Kapel rebuked him, which made him unable to talk back.
5 more hours passed. Every soldier within the emergency deployment force had been... interrogated, but just as anticipated, none of them could recount what exactly had taken place during the bombardment, not their actions, nor what Jogrin had done.
"Say, is this 'mind tampering' business really true? Could it be that Jogrin'd wiped out their memories so his powers remain unknown?"
"That is one of the possibilities..." Proxer sighed lightly as he continued to tap his fingers against the table. "However, before his actual intentions for arriving at this planet and causing all the disturbances, we can't rashly make a conclusion."
"You're certainly right about that."
"I shall commence the report now. Ideally, I will finish it by the end of today. After presenting it to the king and the ministers, I should be able to take off before noon tomorrow. Thank you for your service, Captain Ryov."
"Oh, about that..."
Captain Ryov halted Kapel when he heard that he'd be leaving for the neighborhood tomorrow. Kapel shot him a look of confusion.
