A week had passed and left Luna with an almost unhoped-for semblance of respite. Despite a few complications in her apartment, calm had returned and there was no trace of any "D" sending her strange messages. everything was almost normal. Almost.
But her daily life wasn't as peaceful, Eoghan had decided to leave a can of coffee in Luna's locker every morning, which was more than a little unusual. Unexpectedly, Luna didn't mind the attention, and the blonde was gradually coming to appreciate the so-called Cold Prince.
However, the young man didn't stop there: he greeted Luna every time he passed her, and did so for as long as Cara and Taho laughed at each of his incongruous appearances, making Luna blush with embarrassment. A big smile, a nod of the head, a wave of the hand - anything to make sure Luna didn't forget Eoghan's existence.
The group of friends had a few hours to kill, and had gathered in the university courtyard to enjoy the sunshine peeking through the treetops. Seated on a bench away from the rest of the students, the three of them were chatting about light subjects.
At that moment, Luna thought how she wished Emi were there, so that she could take part in their lighter topics and take her mind off all those painful moments she was facing at her mother's bedside. Luna sincerely loved Emi and Emi sincerely loved Luna, the two friends were just tortured by their respective pasts and presents.
While Luna daydreamed, lost in thought, and Taho and Cara laughed out loud, a mass of people gradually formed in the center of the entrance to the university's east wing. This mass, which gradually became so large, caught the attention of our group of friends. Rows of disorganized, agitated and panicked students danced around a central element.
A young man on the ground was shaking, his head half inverted, bleeding profusely and appearing to be trying to hold back the fast-flowing blood. Luna was shocked by the sight, not only because it was shocking, nor because so few people were there to help the young man, she was shocked by the man's simple appearance.
You look so much like him.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, a medical team arrived, taking the man with them. He stood up, trembling and panting. Luna wanted to look away, but her gaze was drawn to the blood-stained T-shirt stuck to the young man's back. A strange letter pattern appeared on it, with a message written on it
Let's start the game.
Luna panicked and ran out of the university, her breath catching and her eyes watering. She didn't know why, really, she'd stormed off without warning her friends who'd stood by, calling her name as they watched her walk away.
Whispers were roaring in the young woman's ears, gossip, questions, everyone wondering who the bloodied young man was who had appeared out of nowhere, seemingly hiding some strange secret. Luna, on the other hand, was not at all interested in the man himself, but rather what she was doing with him and the strange message hidden on the back of his shirt.
What's your first move, Luna? D.
This time it was her phone that rang. This mysterious "D" seemed to be enjoying this one-way conversation. Luna gasped, panicked, terrified, petrified, the phone crushed in her clammy hands, letting heavy tears roll down her cheeks.
"Need help?"
The voice wasn't familiar, far from it, and partly expecting to see Eoghan as she'd become accustomed, an entirely different figure presented himself to her.
Large, icy green eyes and hair that contrasted sharply were looking down at her, holding out his hand. Seeing that Luna wasn't going to grasp it, Kyo bent down, his gaze defiant and a sneer drawn on his lips, he took the young woman's hand and placed a kiss on her back.
"I can help you." The dark-haired man raised his eyes and Luna noticed for a moment that his were such a light green that she'd never seen anything like it.
The blonde abruptly withdrew her hand, frightened even.
What did this man want with her? Why did he seem to be indirectly linked to Luna? And why on earth was he offering to help her with something he wasn't supposed to know about.
"What do you want from me?" She trailed off, sticking closer to the wall behind her. "What do you know?"
"I know..." He raised his eyes to the sky, then locked gazes again with the young woman facing him. "I know, that's it." He leaned toward Luna, his face so close she could feel his breath. "I know how to make this stop."
"You do!" Luna stood up abruptly, and the world seemed to start spinning. "It's got to be you."
A vibration sounded in Luna's pocket.
She pulled out her phone to discover a new message.
This message made her blood run cold, much more so than the previous one.
Luna get away from him, D.
"You can see it's not me."
"It's not real proof!"
Luna stood up grabbing her bag left in a corner on the floor. Before she could flee, Kyo grabbed her wrist to hold her back. He put a hand behind her back and whispered a few words in her ear.
These were the last words the dark-haired man spoke before letting her escape. On her way, Luna came across Eoghan, who was looking at her strangely, as if questioning her with his eyes. Luna didn't respond to his gaze, but picked up her things and headed straight home. Her heart clenched, her thoughts immensely heavy, her mind seemed to waver.
The day passed slowly, infinitely slowly. Today, Eoghan was bored, yes, bored. Without his "new toy", as his friends liked to call it, he was bored out of his mind.
An event as important as a bloodied young man in a university courtyard wasn't interesting enough to attract Eoghan's attention. He only liked and loved what he chose to like, and certainly not what could attract everyone's attention, however serious that might be.
"Are we bored here?" Hiro had one hand resting on Eoghan's computer, which he'd just closed with a jerk. "Luuuuunaaaaaaa."
"Shut up."
Hiro burst out laughing and the two friends packed up their things to leave the classroom. Through the hubbub of students entering and leaving the university, words were loosened and the rumor of the bloodied young man had circled the establishment in a split second and had already taken hold.
A tall man with a cold stare crossed the university corridors. A sense of strength and a chilling aura followed the young man as he gradually made his way to the infirmary.
He must be coming for this guy. Eoghan thought to himself, looking at the man who had just passed by and looked barely older than him.
"Kyo." Hiro had pronounced the name with a grimace.
"Do you know him?"
"Well, if he wasn't so cold, he'd probably be as successful as you are." Eoghan laughed, then Hiro resumed. "He's the son of the owner of practically every university in the region."
Leaning against a wall, Eoghan looked at Kyo with a strange gaze. There was something about him, something he didn't like, something familiar though. The young man couldn't put his finger on what was bothering him so much about the dark-haired man.
For once, Eoghan didn't have his usual fan club, which also disturbed him, not that he wanted all those girls to keep sticking to them. No, no, if they weren't there anymore it was because they were somewhere else.
"I'll be right back." Eoghan started down the corridor, seeing that the mass of people had only grown. "What's going on?" He leaned toward a young girl who was chatting with two of her friends near the infirmary entrance.
"I don't know, he's the man who was injured, we're not sure what happened to him but they say he was attacked with a knife but he won't talk about it." She looked at her friend, then resumed. "Do you know Kyo? He's the heir to Cresta Technologies, you know the company that owns all the universities in the region."
"Yes, but why is he here?"
"Surely he's been called on behalf of his father, since he's probably not available."
Eoghan again made his way deeper into the mass of people, then saw on the other side of the door that was struggling to be closed. The young man from earlier with his eyes closed was lying down and Kyo faced him looking, again, so cold. It was as if his emotions were locked up, and Eoghan wondered for a moment if he ever smiled.
While the doctors seemed to be scrambling to save the young man, Kyo seemed to be calling his relatives.
Meanwhile, Hiro had joined Kyo and was standing behind him, laying a hand on Eoghan's shoulder which startled him.
"Ah don't do that again!" Hiro looked at Eoghan and while his air decomposed, terror taking over his face, Hiro's hand didn't leave his friend's shoulder but compressed it. "What?" His friend motioned for him to turn around, and he did so.
Beep. Beep. Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep.
