Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: The Whirlpool of Conflicts

The office building of Sangen Corporation was brightly lit, with the spring sunlight streaming obliquely through the tall glass windows. Wayne and Hailey sat in a quiet conference room, discussing the next phase of their marketing plan. However, their focused and harmonious atmosphere was about to be disrupted by a brewing force of unease—Georgia had decided to take action.

Georgia, having grown up in a wealthy family, had a hidden side: she relished control and was accustomed to solving problems with money and influence. Wayne's indifference and Hailey's growing closeness ignited her jealousy like gunpowder, ready to explode at any moment.

That afternoon, Georgia found an opportunity to confront Hailey, who was alone in the print room organizing documents. The sound of the door opening made Hailey look up.

"Hello, I'm Georgia Jones. You must be Hailey Miller, right?" Georgia's voice was calm and cold, a stark contrast to her usual gentle demeanor. "Can we talk?"

Hailey, slightly nervous, nodded, "Of course, is there something you need?"

Georgia closed the door and walked up to Hailey, her gaze sharp. "I'll get straight to the point. I don't want you getting too close to Wayne. You might not know this, but Wayne is very important to me, and I won't allow anyone to hurt him. Besides, you two are from completely different worlds. Continuing this won't lead to anything good."

Hailey was taken aback by Georgia's directness but tried to stay calm. "Georgia, Wayne and I are just colleagues. There's no need for you to worry."

Georgia sneered, "Do you think I can't see through you? Your feelings for Wayne. I'm telling you, you'd better stay away from him, or I won't make your life easy."

Hailey felt a surge of anger but knew it wasn't wise to confront Georgia head-on. "Georgia, I respect your feelings for Wayne, but I hope you can understand that I don't have the intentions you think I do."

Georgia stared at Hailey intensely, then finally shook her head. "I don't want to hear any more explanations. Remember what I said, stay away from Wayne." With that, she turned and left the print room, leaving Hailey stunned and confused.

That evening, as Wayne was working late in his office, Georgia knocked on the door and came in. Wayne, looking tired, still managed a smile. "Good evening, Georgia. What brings you here so late?"

Georgia walked up to Wayne's desk, glanced at the papers, then looked directly into his eyes. "Wayne, I'm worried about you. Your relationship with Hailey seems to go beyond that of ordinary colleagues."

Wayne frowned, slightly annoyed. "Georgia, I know what I'm doing. Hailey is an excellent employee, and our relationship is strictly professional."

Georgia was relentless. "I just don't want to see you get hurt. You know I've always cared about you."

Wayne felt a mix of frustration and understanding at Georgia's concern. "I know, Georgia. Thank you for your concern, but I hope you can trust my judgment."

Seeing the exhaustion and sincerity in Wayne's eyes, Georgia felt a complex mix of emotions. She knew her behavior might have crossed the line from friendly concern to controlling, but she couldn't help her feelings for Wayne.
