A new day was beginning, birds that Edart didn't know how to recognize were singing in the distance, which ended up waking him up. This morning there was pleasant weather and, as on other days, the temperature today should not exceed 28 °C. (82,4ºF)
A cold wind passed through his body and Edart huddled on his twig. The last four days were pleasant, and sleeping outdoors was not a problem for him, despite the pain in his body after each night.
With this freezing air, he was worried, as he didn't know what region of the planet he was in and didn't know what season it was. If he had stations on this planet. If the climate changed and winter arrived, causing blizzards, Edart feared that he would end up dying to the cold and not to monsters.
— "I have to find a civilization, make a fire or something to protect myself if this cold gets worse." Edart spoke his thoughts in a whisper.
Éris, who didn't understand everything he said, commented.
— ["Good morning, Edart. What did you say?"] He was a little startled by the sudden voice, he quickly responded.
— "Good morning, Éris. It was nothing, I was just thinking out loud." Changing the subject, he continued. — "How was the night watch, something out of place."
— ["No, nothing strange happened, it was even boring without having anything to observe."]
— "I understand, thank you for doing this." Edart thanked her, it was the only thing he could do.
Edart got down from the tree and did his morning work. Stretching, looking for food, relieving yourself…
Today was a new day, even though it wasn't yet full, he had a lot of things to do. To begin with, he looked at his life and mana.
— ["Edart: Life: 20/46, Mana: 18/18, Stamina: 24/24."]
— "My life is taking too long to recover."
His life was in half, just one night's sleep was not enough to recover his entire life. The rest were at their peak, it would be enough to explore and look for new things.
Last night, while training his mana perception which gained another level and reached 9, Edart had an idea. If he used the skill all the time, he could level up this skill faster. He wasn't sure if it would work, but it was worth a try.
He wanted to use the mana to make attack spells. Last night, he tried to manipulate the tree's mana, but he made no progress at all.
Since he didn't know how spell summoning worked, he was left hoping that once he reached level 10 perception, it would be easier to manipulate the mana.
When he activated the skill, his world became brighter, with bright spots here and there. Even so, this wouldn't hinder his exploration.
— "It's like having a light in all objects"
The next thing on his to-do list was to test his strength, with 10 points up since arriving here, he wanted to see how strong he was.
— "That should do the trick"
After a quick search, he found a stone measuring 30 x 30 x 30 centimeters, round and irregular, with spikes in several places. He did not know its weight, but estimated it to be between 25 and 40 kg.
Coming close to the stone, he holds it with both hands. After a little effort, he lifts the stone to his waist, after holding it for a while, he releases it in the same place.
— "I'm so strong. I wonder if I start doing physical training, will I be able to gain some points in strength." This was something to be tested in the future.
If it was his strength on Earth, he wouldn't have moved the stone even an inch. Happy with his discovery, Edart was ready to explore.
Today, he would explore in another direction, he wanted to see more of his surroundings, and if he found signs of civilization, he would follow them until he found someone. Of course, he wouldn't go without preparing properly.
Edart took two 'Leaf Blades' and headed southeast.
…
Time passed and Edart explored. To his surprise, he managed to find many 'Silver Moon' flowers, with mana perception they stood out from the rest. This gave him 48 more petals, which would give him 12 'Life Balls'.
He found more, but didn't take them, as they would spoil if he didn't consume them soon. Having this excess, he consumed some petals to recover his points of life.
Despite the abundance, these flowers indicated that this forest was untouched, that is, there were no civilizations nearby. Keeping in mind Earth's humans, if they were present, they would modify the environment around them and this forest would no longer be pristine.
There could be other races that didn't affect the forest as much as the Elves, since this was a magical world. All he could do was explore more.
He also took some branches that were long and as straight as possible to make spears. Using the leaf blade, he managed to make 10 spears before they shattered, becoming useless.
Each spear had a length of 1.20 meters and a thickness of 3 to 4 centimeters, they were not uniform, but they were enough to launch at the slimes.
Edart spent the next 6 hours exploring the southeast region, in that time, he found a plant that would be of great use, he just needed to figure out how to make it useful.
The plant was mature, it had several white flowers that were full of threads and felt fluffy to the touch.
— [ "Name: Soft White.
Level: 27.
Rarity: Common.
Description: A common plant on the continent, due to its unique characteristics, it has become a highly sought after plant. Its flower produces white threads that can be used to make long threads that can be used to make clothes and other products." ]
— "This world has many things in common with Earth." Edart said in a low voice, as he thought about the similarities between the two worlds.
Despite the different name, Edart knew what it was. He didn't know what the plant looked like on the ground, but it was without a shadow of a doubt a cotton plant. Each little white ball on the plant reminded him of the cottons he bought, despite them being in their rawest state here.
With this, he could make thread, clothes, use it to start a fire, among other things. Even though he had no knowledge in these areas, he believed that, with time, he could figure out how to do this.
Wasting no time, he filled the remaining pocket with cotton. These plants were not few, so he would have a lot of material to practice on, he just needed to come and get it.
Edart advanced 3 to 5 kilometers into the forest. At this point, the trees began to change, going from tall, thick trees, to smaller, thinner trees that had a greater density of branches, leaving the trees tightly closed.
He passed by these trees without paying much attention, as he was more focused on finding flowers and herbs. They were what gave him the greatest return.
The sun was past its peak, but Edart hadn't stopped for lunch until now. It was then that he heard it.
— "arrggghhh"
Looking around for any animals, he became alert. Éris saw this and thought it was funny.
— ["humpfff."] Suppressing a laugh, she spoke. — ["The enemy you are looking for is within you. Hehe."]
Upon hearing this, Edart realized what just happened. He didn't respond, he ran his hand over his stomach and looked around.
Now he was not looking for enemies, but for something that could kill the monster inside his belly.
Looking around, he only saw the green of the trees and there were no bushes here. The only way to find food now was to go back to where he came from.
— "It's a shame I can't continue because of such a small mistake."
— "Éris, do you see any bushes nearby?"
— ["I can't identify anything nearby. If we go back, we should find something."]
— "We can only do this now."
As he had to finish his exploration, Edart looked around one last time, picked up his spears, and walked back into the larger forest.
Along the way, as he looked at these small trees, a red point appeared.
— "That's it..."
This caught his attention, with his curiosity increasing, he approached.
Getting close enough to see what the red point was, he dropped his spears and ran toward the tree.
Wasting no time, he picked up the red point and held it in his hands, looking at it from every possible angle. His hunger increased and, not waiting any longer, he took a large bite. The sweet juices of the fruit entered his mouth, soon all the fruit was eaten.
Edart looked at the tree in front of him and looked for more fruit. Not finding it, he looked at the trees around him, to his happiness, they were all the same type.
On these trees, he found many green fruits, but the red ones were few.
After satisfying his hunger, he explored around again and discovered that there were at least 100 of these trees. Most were aligned in a straight line and with equal spaces between them, some broke this order, but there were few.
This surprised him, trees would hardly grow like this in nature.
— "This is an orchard." He said in surprise. It means that someone planted these trees, creating an orchard, which indicated that there were people who lived nearby.
Unfortunately, the orchard had been abandoned for a long time, which left a few trees growing anywhere and undergrowth took over the ground. The people who did this are long gone.
Edart was happy, if there were signs of civilization here, people might be around, he just had to look a little harder.
He used his identify ability and saw what he expected.
— ["Name: Apple Tree.
Rarity: Uncommon.
Level: 53.
Description: A tree coveted for its quality wood for making staffs, wands and other magical tools. Having more affinity with the plant element, strongly linked to healing.
Despite being common on the continent, it has become increasingly difficult to see this tree in the wild.
Its sweet and smooth fruit is highly nutritious, they say that consuming one a day will leave your body strong and healthy."]
Seeing this, Edart couldn't help but smile, apparently the apple wasn't a simple apple. He didn't see any difference between this fruit and that of Earth, but a new food was added to his diet, all of which was worth the effort of today's search.
Looking at the orchard, he decided that in the future he would take care of this orchard, at least while he stayed in the region.
— "That's enough for today. Eris, can you guide me back to camp?"
— "Yes, just follow my instructions." Edart recently discovered that Éris remembered everything very well, so retracing a route would be easy for her. So he made her his guide to walk through the forest.
Unable to explore further, Edart returned to his base. Around his right arm were wooden spears. With his left arm, he carried 8 apples.
If any animal attacked him on the way back, he would be caught off guard, but he didn't care.
He must explore and gather resources to strengthen himself, and if he was too cautious, he would waste a lot of time, and the longer he took to get stronger, the greater the chances of him perishing.
…
Back at his base, he stuck his spears into the ground near his tree. He took out the cotton wool from his pocket and placed it next to the 'Leaf Blades'. He took the 'Silver Moon' petals to a stone and left them there, then he would process them.
The apples he took up the tree, he was afraid to leave on the ground. Some animal could eat the apples, wasting all their effort and would have to go get more.
'I need a warehouse to store these things.' Thought Edart as he climbed down from the tree.
With everything in place, it was time to prepare your supplies and train. There were still a few hours of light left, it was better to make the most of it.
— "Let's start with what can go bad easily."
Starting with the petals, he quickly processed them, each time he made a Life Ball the easier and faster he got the job done.
When he finished the penultimate one, a message appeared, he quickly looked at it. Feeling energized, he finished the last 'Life Balls' and began his 'martial' training.
—["Your job 'Alchemist' has leveled up, now your level is 2."]
—["Skill acquired: 'Basic Herbal Information (Passive)'"].
—["Description: Provides basic knowledge about Herbs found in the world."]
As soon as this ability appeared, a flood of information invaded his mind.
— "This ability seems to grant me information about plants, however, with identify, I can obtain more information." Although it was a 'useless' skill, he was happy with this new skill.
He put away the new 'Life Ball' and began training with the spear. Sometimes he practiced throwing, sometimes he picked up a spear and practiced striking.
His strike training was, in fact, him swinging the spear from side to side, sometimes he would make a few thrusts, but there was no technique whatsoever in his strikes. If a professional saw him, he would see a child playing with some stick.
Despite this, his training helped him become familiar with the spear, it was better than nothing. All this effort yielded a level for 'Spear Throwing'.
So, another day came to an end.
