Having regained his strength, Edart was thinking about his next steps. The purple slime's attack ended up disrupting his plans.
His initial idea was to continue killing slimes, so he could gain a few more levels, but with his left arm out of play, the best thing to do was to retreat for now.
Now he needed to find more 'Silver Moon' to recover his injury and have more 'Life Ball' for the next fights, that was what guaranteed his life today, so it was the best thing to do.
With a plan in mind, he was ready to leave, then he remembered he hadn't checked his messages yet. With the sudden attack, all he wanted to do was run away, and he almost forgot about it.
— ["Éris, show me the messages that appeared after the battle."]
Soon the messages appeared, and many of them. Edart was getting used to it.
—["You killed a 'Blue Slime (Level: 7).'"].
— ["You gained 35 XP"].
—["You leveled up, now your level is 3"].
— ["You have gained 2 attribute points to distribute freely among your main attributes"].
Edart already had in mind where he would place these points.
—["Your job 'Hunter' has leveled up, now your level is 2."]
— ["Skill acquired: 'Collect (Common)(Level: 1)'"].
— ["Description: Every good hunter has to know how to collect the items from his hunt, separating the fur and meat is a natural skill of a hunter."]
Edart was surprised and happy at the same time, he thought that the hunter's job would only increase in level when he hunted animals and not monsters, but it seems that both were recognized.
Looking at the new skill, he wasn't sure, maybe it would give knowledge to clean the animals, like how to cut the meat, how to separate the skin from the meat and such things or in the best of expectations, it could separate everything without any work from him.
The second option would be the best, as he didn't have any tools for that. If it was the second, he could hunt some rabbits and change his diet, but the fire was still missing.
— ["Club Handling' is at level 2."].
—["Throwing' is at level 6."].
—["Identify' is at level 6."].
The last messages were about increasing his skill level, although they didn't give any more attribute ranks, he was happy, the stronger the skill, the stronger he would be.
He knew that at level 5, his skills would give extra points and probably at level 10 he would give more points, he was excited just thinking about it.
— "Now it's time to get stronger." Saying this, he thought about his attributes, and they soon appeared in his vision.
— ["Name: Edart Zanuy
Age: 19
Race: Human (???????)
Level: 3
Height: 165 cm
Life: 14/18
Mana: 14/16
Stamina: 6/8
Free Attribute Points: 2
Vitality (VIT): 4
Strength (STR): 5
Endurance (END): 2
Agility (AGI): 3
Dexterity(DEX): 3
Intelligence (INT): 7
Will (VON): 4
Perception (PER): 10"]
Looking at his attributes, Edart already knew what to improve, it was his stamina. In the previous battle, in less than 30 minutes, his stamina was exhausted.
By putting one point into stamina, he saw his stamina increase by 3. Instead of putting the other point into stamina to increase his stamina, Edart decided to put it into strength.
The logic was that if he had more damage, the battle would end faster, needing less time, meaning less stamina was needed.
Feeling the familiar energy course through his body, he felt a sense of power. Soon it dissipated and he looked at his status.
—["Edart, Life: 14/19, Mana: 14/16, Stamina: 6/12."]
Seeing this, Edart discovered that by assigning the points, he became stronger, but his amount of stamina and "available" life did not increase, it only increased the maximum limit he could have.
This was a good discovery, because if he saved some points to allocate to 'Vitality' in the middle of a fight, his life would remain the same and the maximum limit would only increase.
With that, he kept in mind to always assign his attribute points.
The sun was already high in the sky, with no way to continue fighting, Edart got up, drank water and returned to his base. Not being able to fight for now, the only thing to do was to gather resources for the next battles.
…
Back at camp, Edart began by collecting red mulberries, while securing his lunch and dinner. Whenever he saw a 'Silver Moon' he would harvest it.
With a full stomach, he focused his search on finding more 'Silver Moon', they were essential to his battle. Occasionally he found new plants, but unfortunately they were just normal plants.
The surroundings of its 'base tree' have already been searched inch by inch, apart from the bushes that gave it food, there was nothing useful left. As a result, Edart was forced to increase his search radius.
After 2 hours of searching, Edart got enough petals to make 10 'Life Balls'. Having enough for a few more battles, he started to head back.
Upon his return, he continued to search, which yielded a new discovery.
In a small clearing, bathed in sunlight, there was a blue flower, it was shaped like a chalice and inside there was a transparent, slightly bluish liquid. Wasting no time, he used identify.
—["Name: Azulis Chalice.
Rarity: Rare.
Level: 32.
Description: A flower connected to the surrounding mana, it consumes and filters mana, producing pure mana that is stored within the blue cup of petals. Both mana and petals regenerate mana.
Effect: 1 mana per second, for 5 seconds. Pure mana, regenerates 20 mana directly."]
—["'Identify' is at level 7"].
After reading these notifications, a new feature appeared. Being able to increase your mana regeneration would be very important in the future. Although his mana expenditure wasn't much now, in the near future, he wanted to have magical abilities. Going out attacking fireballs was in his plans.
Edart wasn't going to harvest these petals, he wanted to check how long it took for pure mana to be produced. If the time was short, it would be a source of mana potions, he just had to find a way to charge it, and he wouldn't need to worry about mana. If it took too long, he would make 'Mana Ball' with the petals.
Then, he bent down and drank all the liquid in the cup. Soon he felt his body heat up. Looking at his almost depleted mana, he saw that it was complete, which made him very happy.
Identify went up another level, but no extra points, he could only wait until he reached level 10.
…
Arriving at his base, he quickly began preparing his 'life potions'. Out of the 10 sets of petals, he made 6 normal and 2 super 'Life Balls'.
Unlike before, they all had the same regeneration, 6 points for normal ones and 12 points for larger ones. He took a normal one and ate it, his arm started to feel better, and soon he didn't feel any pain.
Having finished his potions, Edart began to prepare another batch of chipped stones. He saw how these stones with sharp edges caused more damage to the slime.
With more damage, it meant a faster victory, where he would suffer less damage and less resources would be spent to recover, thus increasing the number of fights he could do per day, resulting in a higher rate of obtaining more experience points.
In short, Edart saw that it was worth spending his time and effort on this work.
An hour later, a pile of 30 chipped stones was piled next to him.
He wouldn't use them all in the same fight, so his stock would last at least 3 fights, that's what he believed.
The next thing Edart wanted to do was a better weapon, his club helped him, but he wouldn't be able to get far if he didn't increase the damage his weapon could do.
The weapon he had in mind was a sword, but he knew it would be impossible for him to make it, there was no metal, forge or tools, even if he tried to make it with wood it wouldn't look good.
Another weapon he always liked was the bow, it could be made with wood and could attack from afar, it was a good choice, but it was far from his manufacturing capabilities.
Not having many choices, he decided to make a 'spear', all he had to do was sharpen the tip of a stick and it would be ready, even if it wasn't good, as long as it increased its damage a little it would be an advantage.
Having chosen his first weapon, he got to work. The first thing to do was try to make a stone blade. When he was making the stones previously, he found a harder stone that was difficult to break.
He took this stone and began the work of chipping it, it was difficult and time-consuming. Edart tried to create a straight and thin line, leaving the stone in the shape of an Isosceles triangle, with the base smaller than the other sides, but whenever it was too thin, the stone chipped, making a gap in the blade, and he had to start again.
After a few attempts, Edart no longer tried to make the blade by chipping the stone. When he finished carving the stone, he had a line that was 90% straight, but far from a thin blade.
So, he found a large flat stone and began rubbing the tip of the triangle-shaped stone at an angle with the flat stone. With friction, the stone will wear away, making the straight line thinner and sharper.
Two more hours passed and his 'knife' was ready, it was far from a knife, it looked more like a wedge with a sharp tip.
Admiring his work of art, an idea came to his mind. If he could attach this stone to the end of his club, he could make an axe, unfortunately he didn't have any rope with him.
Returning to his previous idea, Edart picked up the club and began to create a point. Soon, his club had a tip added, now he could stab and cause more damage to the slimes. Unfortunately, his stone didn't last long and broke.
Edart began to test his club-spear, striking the air, soon a smile appeared on his face, not due to his new weapon, but rather due to the notification that appeared in his vision.
— ["Acquired skill: 'Gambiarra (Rare)(Level: 1)' "].
— ["Description: The art of solving your problems with minimal resources or resources that should not be used for this. Creativity runs wild, and you can find solutions for everything, but be careful, if your solution is not super powerful homemade, it could come back to haunt you."]
This ability increases your perception as you evolve. Dexterity +1, Intelligence +1."]
Edart felt that despite it being a skill gained by just improvising a few things, he realized that he could gain a variety of skills, he would just need to figure out what condition was to be met to unlock the skill or job.
He had a lot on his mind, but now was not the time, having another 1 to 2 hours of light, he had something he wanted to do. Picking up his club, he headed towards the Slimy Plain, more precisely towards the stream on the border of the forest and the plain.
It was already the third day in this world and as things were going better, he could afford to take a shower. Coming from the modern era, not taking a shower was already bothering him.
He realized that this region was not very dangerous, and the slimes would hardly come to the stream.
Quickly he reached the stream, looked around for enemies, seeing nothing, he took off his clothes and took a shower. The water was cold, and the shower wasn't pleasant, without soap, it didn't matter how much he scrubbed himself, he never felt completely clean.
— "I need to find civilization soon, hopefully they will have some basic needs of the modern era."
Edart got dressed and returned to his camp.
Having some more time in sunlight, he went after his dinner. Afterward, he returned to his tree and practiced his 'mana perception' before calling it a day.
