Chapter 4 - A new world to explore.

After having this huge dump of information in his head, Edart felt mentally tired, and it was as if his head was going to explode.

Forgetting the dangers he could have around him, he leaned against the tree and closed his eyes to rest and recover a little from his crazy day. Soon he fell asleep.

Waking up after a while, he looked around and didn't recognize where he was, but when he looked to the side, he saw that he was in a tree. Holding on tightly to the tree so as not to fall. His memories of what happened that day soon came back and he remembered everything.

— "I'm really not dreaming. This really is a new world."

Accepting his new reality, Edart began to think about what he should do next. After 10 minutes of reflection, he came up with a to-do list. Water, food, shelter, fire, weapons, explore, find a population.

— "Food can be considered done for now." As he looked around the tree, he could see an abundance of red mulberry bush, placed in groups with some space in them. He would have food for a few days.

— "Water is my top priority." Edart considered it to be of the greatest importance, as human beings cannot last many days without water and the berries would not provide enough water.

— "I guess this tree will have to be my home for now." Looking around, seeing nothing but a forest, sleeping on the ground would be dangerous, as he didn't know what could be hiding, waiting for an opportunity to attack him. If a small rabbit was already so strong, he didn't want to see how strong a larger animal would be.

Thinking about this, he looked down and saw his club leaning against the tree where he left it. — "You will be my weapon for now."

Now all that was left was to explore and make a fire. Although Edart knew the principle of making fire, he had no hope of achieving it just by rubbing two pieces of wood together, not with his current physique.

Looking up at the blue sky, the beautiful moons he had seen before, but that was not what he wanted. He quickly found the sun. Looking at his position in the sky, he could tell that it was around 3pm in the afternoon.

— "It's around 3 pm, but does the day in this world have the same length as it does on Earth?"

Not sure how much daylight he had left, he decided he would explore around the tree for today.

Carefully climbing down the tree, he soon reached the ground, picked up his club and turned around. With his back to the tree, he stood there, looking for any movement, seeing nothing, he went to the nearest bush and used 'Identify'.

—["Name: Red Mulberries.

Rarity: Common.

Level: 8.

Description: This plant can be considered a pest. Found throughout the continent, they are resistant and spread easily. It produces mulberries that are delicious and loved by everyone. It can be consumed without reservations.

Effect: none."]

The information that appeared did not surprise him. The plant was nothing special and, looking around, he could see that, indeed, there were many of these plants, it could even be considered a pest, but for him, it was a blessing. With so many plants, food would be guaranteed for the next few days.

Edart started to move a little away from the tree and went from bush to bush, picking some berries and eating them. The task was not easy as these bushes were very dense.

As he advanced, from time to time he looked around for danger. Ever since the rabbit attack, he was afraid of another attack.

After eating enough, he walked further and looked for new plants. His effort was soon rewarded.

As he passed a bush, his attention was attracted by a pure and beautiful plant. Without realizing it, he just stood there watching her for a few moments.

When he recovered from his stupor, he used identify to find out more about the plant.

—["Name: Silver Moon.

Rarity: Rare.

Level: 35.

Description: A beautiful white flower that grows in the moonlight. It grows only where nature is pristine and calm. It brings a feeling of peace and tranquility when observed.

Effect: Heals your life by consuming its petals. +1 health per second for 5 seconds."]

—["'Identify' is at level 4"].

Looking at the plant, he was happy to find something that could heal his life. It wasn't a red potion, but it would help in times of crisis.

Leveling up the 'Identify' skill brought him happiness, however he couldn't notice any difference, so he tested it again on the plant. The same things appeared, and other than it seeming easier to cast the skill, he didn't notice anything different.

With pain in his heart, he approached the plant and plucked the crescent-shaped petals and placed them in his pants pocket.

Another hour passed, he explored an area around the tree measuring 700m², equivalent to a circle 30 meters in diameter. In this exploration, he had the following spoils.

Twelve petals of Silver Moon. Equivalent to 3 potions of 5 health.

A pocket full of berries. He took it to have something to eat at night. Afraid of coming down from the tree during the night, he decided it was better to make sure he had 'dinner'.

— ["'Tracking' is at level 2"]. On the way, he found an animal trail and followed it for some time, but as he was moving away from the tree, he decided it would be better to turn back.

The sun was already starting to get low on the horizon, so Edart decided to go back to his tree. Halfway there, he suddenly stopped and crouched down.

In front of him is an animal sniffing the ground looking for food. This is your first enemy in this world, a white rabbit, but this one is bigger. It must have been an adult of its species.

Thinking about the rabbit that attacked him so hard earlier and looking at the rabbit standing in front of him twice his size, a line of sweat began to run down his back.

Holding tight to his club, Edart stood still, trying not to make any noise. After a few seconds, the rabbit still hadn't noticed him, so he relaxed a little.

Thinking about how strong this rabbit was, Edart thought about using his ability to identify the rabbit, to get some information, however he was afraid of the rabbit noticing him.

Trying to decide whether or not he should use the skill, a few more seconds passed. Meanwhile, the rabbit ate some berries that were on the ground.

Seeing the rabbit eating calmly, he made up his mind, raised his free left hand and began to think about using the skill. Soon information began to appear. At the same time they appeared, the white rabbit with big blue eyes raised its head and looked directly at Edart.

— "Damn, he noticed me, how is that possible?" Shouted Edart, afraid of being discovered.

Quickly rising from his spot, holding his club steady with both hands, Edart prepared himself for the attack. He thought about running, but remembered the other rabbit's speed, it was better to face him than suffer an attack from behind.

The rabbit stood still looking at this whole scene in front of him, sniffed the air twice and, seeing that Edart was standing still and prepared to defend himself, he turned to the opposite side of Edart and slowly jumped away.

Seeing this, Edart was confused, the rabbit that was supposed to attack him furiously, trying to kill him, left the scene as if he didn't even exist. Soon Edart was out of sight, but his guard was up.

Wasting no more time, Edart made his way to his tree carefully, afraid that the rabbit would return and attack from behind.

Arriving at the tree, he did not leave his club on the ground, but took it up with him. This time, going up was easier, even with the club. Arriving at the top, he sat down and rested for a few minutes, using this time to put his thoughts in order.

— "Why didn't that rabbit attack me?" He spoke aloud to no one in particular, but someone answered him.

—["It must be because the first rabbit was being affected by the 'Touch of the Abyss'."]

— "Ahhhh!" Edart said, scared and surprised. For a moment, he forgot about the system.

— "What do you mean by 'Touch of the Abyss'? And how do you know that?"

Instead of answering these questions, some information boxes appeared in a view of it.

The first information that appeared was about the rabbit who despised Edart and left. He had high AGILITY, but the rest was low. But he's almost equal to me in terms of attribute points, I'm as strong as a rabbit, thought Edart.

This rabbit had two skills, the first was a running skill, which made it run quickly forward. It could be used to run or escape.

The second skill was a jump, which probably increased the jump height.

Curse

Touch of the Abyss."]

The second information box was from the rabbit that attacked, he was actually a young man, his attributes were low, but his strength was incredibly high, 'why is that?'

As if to answer his question, a third box appeared.

—["Touch of the Abyss.

Description: When touched by the Abyss, reason will leave, leaving only confusion, anger, and hatred behind.

Those who receive the 'Touch of the Abyss' will attack every living being in front of them, their only objective is destruction.

It can curse beings that come into prolonged contact with the exhaled miasma.

Increases attribute: Strength."]

'So that was it, I can rest assured', thought Edart.

This curse strengthened and made the rabbit attack him, which means that not all rabbits will attack him.

With this question answered, several others emerged. 'How did he get cursed? Are there many animals that have this curse? Can it cure or break the curse?' Several other questions arose in his mind.

After thinking about it for some time, without getting the answers to his questions, Edart threw all of this to the back of his mind and focused on another matter he wanted to resolve. He wanted to give the system a name. As she looked like an Artificial Intelligence, it would be cool to give her a name, as well as making it easier to talk to.

But since this AI had advanced intelligence, he wanted her opinion on it. If she stopped helping him, he would lose an important resource for the future, so he asked.

— "Hey, system, would you like me to give you a name?"

Instead of an answer, a question came.

— ["Why do you want to give me a name?"]

— "I thought you might want one, everyone has a name, and it would be better for us to talk."

It took a while, but a response soon came.

— ["If you insist, let it be a good one."]

Edart was quiet for a while, he thought of several names, but none seemed to fit. He didn't think it would be that difficult and was about to give up when he had an idea.

— "How about 'Éris'? Since we are linked, I thought if our names started with the same letter, it would be cool." 'It was also the name of a goddess, I just don't remember which one, well, it doesn't matter.' Edart thought after speaking.

Soon she responded, she didn't say much, but you could tell from her tone that she liked it.

—["Accepted!"]

— "That's great, I hope to count on you in the future, Éris!"

— ["I'll always be here."] She replied at the end.

With these matters resolved, the day was coming to an end, having nothing else to do and not wanting to take risks in the dark, Edart ate the berries that were in his pocket, then he found a less bad position and tried to rest.

— "Goodnight, Éris."

— ["Goodnight."]

Soon, Edart's tired body fell asleep.
