Chapter 23 - Chapter 22: Brutality

Single Part

Ed quickly rose, grabbing a sword from his table with a force that contrasted with his sense of panic. The metal of the blade gleamed in the dim light as he assumed a defensive stance. The monster didn't hesitate; with a powerful leap, it attacked with its front claws. The impact was brutal, causing Ed's blade to resonate against the thick fur of the werewolf.

The monster's strength nearly made Ed stumble, but he managed to recover, spinning to dodge the beast's second charge. The blade cut through the air as Ed twisted and retreated, trying to maintain distance. The monster continued to attack with blind fury, its claws slicing the space with terrifying precision.

The beast's rage was uncontrollable, its monstrous form tearing apart what was left of the room. William, still dazed, reacted swiftly. He grabbed his short sword and advanced with determination, but before he could strike, Wilde seized a small cold dark steel axe that was beside his bed. Without hesitation, he hurled the axe with all the strength he could muster.

The axe cut through the air, but the monster, with surprising agility for its size, quickly dodged, moving with the speed of a predator. The axe barely missed, hitting the wall behind it. The frustration in Wilde was palpable, and he readied himself for another attack, but the monster didn't give him time.

With a wild roar, the monster turned on Wilde, its claws sharp as blades. It lunged with a powerful leap, slamming Wilde against the wall with brutal force. The impact made Wilde groan in pain, and he fell awkwardly to the floor, his vision blurred by the force of the blow.

Meanwhile, William launched himself at the monster, his sword cutting through the air in a series of quick strikes. He managed to hit the beast on its side, but the creature's strength caused the blade to slip before it could deal any real damage. The monster growled, irritated, and with a swift motion, lunged forward, striking William with a claw that sent him crashing into the table, shattering it into pieces.

Ed, who was struggling to get up after the initial attack, saw the situation unfold. He readied himself to attack the monster with his sword, but the creature, with terrifying speed, rushed at him. The monster attacked with uncontrollable fury, its claws slashing the air with a sharp sound. Ed tried to defend himself, but the beast pushed him out of the dormitory with a devastating blow.

The two tumbled into the hallway, rolling on the cold stone floor. The werewolf followed Ed, its expression one of pure rage and predatory instinct. Ed stood up with difficulty, trying to recover, as the creature advanced, its claws ready for the next strike.

"Eddy, watch out!" William shouted, his voice filled with pain and urgency as he tried to crawl to the site of the fight.

Ed dashed through the corridors of the Raven Guard, his body still tense with adrenaline. The sound of the werewolf's claws echoed menacingly behind him, growing closer by the second. The desperate run took him out of the dormitory and onto the main street. Panic drove him to keep ahead, his mind focused on escaping the terror pursuing him.

The werewolf, with its beastly and imposing form, moved with brutal speed and strength. Its heavy, hoarse breathing reverberated through the corridors as it chased Ed, determined to capture him. The werewolf roared, each sound amplifying the sense of urgency and despair.

When Ed burst out of the dormitory and crossed the street, the monster was right behind him, its claws leaving visible marks on the stone floor. Ed tried to stay ahead, but the pain from the wounds the creature had inflicted began to affect his speed and agility.

The werewolf lunged with a horizontal claw strike, its sharp claws slicing through the air with a cutting sound. Ed leaned to the side, but the attack still grazed his side, causing him to cry out in pain. He collapsed against the wall, blood streaming from his body. With desperate willpower, Ed stood up, trying to gather himself.

"Damn monster!" Ed yelled, turning to face it head-on. He brandished his sword with effort, striking the werewolf's leg with a powerful blow. The beast roared in pain and retreated slightly, its massive body shaking with frustration.

The creature didn't give Ed time to recover. With supernatural speed, it lunged again, attempting a vertical strike. The werewolf's claws came down with crushing force, but Ed, with painful effort, raised his sword to block the attack. The impact made Ed stagger backward, nearly falling.

William and Wilde reached the front of the dormitory. William, with his short sword in hand, positioned himself beside Ed, his eyes fixed on the werewolf.

"Eddy, stay behind me!" William ordered, his voice firm and urgent.

"I'll handle him."

Ed, panting and struggling to stay on his feet, nodded, his hands still trembling as he held his sword. "Be careful, he's stronger than he looks."

The monster, with uncontrollable fury, turned to attack William with a powerful claw. The werewolf lunged with a quick and devastating strike, but William skillfully dodged, shifting to the side. The attack grazed William's side, but he didn't retreat. With an agile move, William counterattacked, delivering a deep slash to the werewolf's side.

"You're fast, but I'm smarter!" William shouted, his voice filled with determination.

"Let's see how you handle this!"

The werewolf roared in pain and fury, its eyes glowing with a wild light. It lunged with a vertical attack, its claws descending with crushing force. William braced himself for the impact, blocking the attack with his sword and forcing the creature to retreat a bit. The force of the attack nearly made William lose his balance, but he quickly recovered.

Meanwhile, Wilde moved around the battle, looking for an opportunity to help. He spotted a gap in the monster's defense and quickly threw his axe, aiming for the werewolf's rear. The beast growled and turned to face Wilde, dodging the axe, but the distraction was enough for William to land another blow.

"Great work, Wilde!" William shouted as his strike hit the beast's leg, causing it to stagger.

The creature turned back to William with renewed fury, its claws cutting through the air with impressive speed. It lunged with a diagonal strike, but William leaned to avoid the blow. With a quick and precise movement, William made a horizontal slash that tore through the monster's flesh, causing it to roar in pain.

"It's not over yet!" William yelled, his voice filled with anger.

The werewolf, enraged and with its skin torn, attacked with renewed strength. It made a high leap, attempting a vertical claw strike. William, anticipating the move, blocked the attack with his sword, the impact sending a shockwave through William's arm.

"He's getting weaker." William shouted to Ed and Wilde.

"Don't give up!"

Wilde seized the opportunity to move closer and throw another axe, this time hitting the monster's upper arm. The werewolf howled in pain, its arm falling limp, its claws no longer as effective.

"Billy, he's losing strength!" Wilde shouted, trying to keep up the pressure.

The beast, with a ferocious roar, lunged at William. In a quick and unexpected move, the werewolf grabbed William's right arm, its sharp teeth sinking into the flesh. The scene was grotesque and brutal. It bit down with animalistic ferocity, tearing through flesh and muscle as William screamed in pain.

"No!" Wilde screamed, his voice filled with panic and determination as he witnessed the brutal attack.

"William!"

As the werewolf devoured William's arm, it began to swallow chunks of flesh and bone. A vapor started to emanate from the cuts on the monster's body, indicating that its wounds were beginning to heal. The werewolf seemed to grow stronger with each bite it consumed, and its injuries visibly closed.

William, with the pain becoming unbearable, struggled to stay conscious. His eyes were glazed, and he tried to pull away from the attack, but the werewolf held him with crushing strength. "Wilde... I can't... keep going..." William murmured, his voice laden with suffering.

Wilde, desperate and enraged at seeing his friend's state, charged forward with renewed determination. He grabbed his axe and, with a shout of fury, rushed toward the monster. "Bastard! You'll pay for this!"

Wilde, with the axe in hand and his face marked by determination, advanced against the beast with desperate fury. The small axe seemed almost insignificant against the werewolf's size and strength, but Wilde didn't hesitate. He delivered a quick strike, aiming at the side of the beast, trying to land a deep cut.

The monster dodged with surprising agility for its stature, spinning to the side and countering with a claw strike that sliced through the air. Wilde managed to block the attack with his axe, but the impact sent him staggering backward.

"You're dead!" Wilde shouted, regaining his stance and advancing again with the axe.

Wilde's strikes were quick and furious, but the axe seemed to have little effect on the werewolf's tough hide and reinforced skin. The werewolf attacked with crushing force, its claws slicing through the air with extreme precision. Wilde was able to dodge and block some of the attacks, but with each blow he received, his exhaustion and pain grew.

The werewolf, with a savage growl, grabbed Wilde by the shirt, lifting him off the ground with superhuman strength. With a quick and cruel movement, it slammed Wilde against the stone wall of the corridor. The impact was brutal, and Wilde fell to the ground, his vision blurred by pain and blood.

"Wilde, no!" William screamed at the top of his lungs, trying to crawl closer to the fight.

Wilde tried to get up, but his movements were slow and uncoordinated. He tried to recover his axe, but the werewolf was on him again, advancing with outstretched claws. Wilde instinctively raised the axe, but the creature swiped laterally with its claws, slashing Wilde's shoulder and sending the axe flying away.

"You're not going to escape!" the creature growled, its voice a mixture of fury and satisfaction. It advanced with a triumphant roar, its claws slicing through the air to finish the attack.

Wilde, now unarmed and struggling to defend himself, tried to roll to the side, but the werewolf caught him by the neck, lifting him into the air. Wilde fought, trying to free himself from the relentless pressure of the werewolf's grip.

"I... won't... fall..." Wilde managed to murmur, his voice weak and full of effort.

The monster ignored Wilde's resistance and, with a brutal movement, slammed him against the wall again. This time, the impact was so strong that Wilde collapsed to the ground, his body motionless and bloody. The werewolf turned toward Ed, its eyes glowing with a malicious intensity, ready to continue the attack.

Ed, panting and with his strength nearly depleted, struggled to stand, the pain in his body making every movement a battle. His eyes were fixed on the creature, which now turned toward him with a predatory expression, ready to finish what was left of his resistance.

With a roar that made the walls tremble, the werewolf charged at Ed, its sharp claws slicing through the air in multiple attacks. Ed raised his sword with titanic effort, trying to block the attacks, but the beast was relentless. The werewolf's claws slashed through Ed's sword, forcing him to retreat under the weight of the assault.

"No..." Ed murmured, his eyes struggling to stay open as he tried to defend himself. The pressure from the werewolf's claws intensified, and he knew the end was near.

The monster was about to deliver the final blow, its claws rising to pierce Ed with deadly precision. However, before it could complete the attack, a war cry echoed down the corridor.

"Now, you monster!" A man from the Raven Guard shouted, his voice filled with determination and courage. He was a tall, robust warrior, clad in gleaming armor and wielding a long sword that seemed to glow with the light of the full moon.

With a swift and precise move, the warrior advanced and, with a decisive strike, slashed the monster's back with the shining blade. The sound of metal cutting through flesh was deafening, and a cry of pain and anger escaped the werewolf's lips. The blade shone intensely white, as if absorbing and amplifying the light of the full moon, burning the creature's flesh.

The beast, wounded and enraged, roared in pain as it fled, leaving a trail of blood down the corridor. The werewolf moved with supernatural speed, the sound of its heavy steps echoing off the walls. Its wound was beginning to close, steam rising from the charred flesh where the blade had cut.

The Raven Guard warrior tried to follow, his gleaming blade still ready to strike, but the monster quickly darted in an unexpected direction. In a brutal and relentless move, the werewolf turned and attacked one of the guards standing at the entrance to the street.

The guard had no time to react. The werewolf lunged at him with a terrifying roar, its sharp claws slicing through the armor and tearing into the soldier's flesh. In one bloody instant, the monster tore off the guard's head with a powerful strike. The head hit the ground with a dull thud, and the soldier's body collapsed beside it, lifeless.

The Raven Guard warrior cried out in horror and anger. "No! Stop this!"

But the werewolf paid no heed. Now with the guard's head between its claws, the werewolf chewed with grotesque brutality, its teeth sinking into the flesh and bone as its wound continued to heal. Blood gushed from the severed head, and the monster seemed almost to absorb the power and vitality of its victim, as if growing stronger from the death.

With a final roar of defiance, the werewolf dropped the guard's body and launched itself toward the forest, the wound on its back still slowly healing.

The battle ceased, and the scene around was filled with chaos and despair. The sound of the werewolf disappearing into the darkness of the forest still echoed in everyone's minds. The silence that followed was broken by a weak moan coming from a nearby corner.

Helena appeared, staggering, her body bloodied and her clothes tattered. She looked exhausted and pale, her breath labored. Her eyes were fixed on Ed, and she tried to speak, but her voice came out as an almost inaudible whisper. "Ed..."

Everyone turned to Helena, shock and concern written on their faces. Ed, feeling a chill down his spine, ran toward her, but something seemed off.

"Helena!" Ed shouted, the desperation in his voice as he approached.

"What happened? Was it the monster?"

Helena, struggling, knelt down and collapsed onto the ground, looking up at the night sky and the full moon shining brightly.
