Lost Letters - The First arc, news, and more (N° 1)
---
Hello, it's me, Kau (or Kauzin), the author of Dead Gods. In this series of special chapters that I'll call "Lost Letters", I will share some insights about the first arc and also talk about upcoming news.
But first, let's talk about the name of the arc, which I believe I've never officially mentioned before, so here it is: Abyss Kevin.
Yes, I know, not very inspired, but it's a functional name.
Well, first of all, let's talk about some changes and discarded ideas for the first arc:
I originally imagined the arc to be bigger, but I ended up cutting a final battle that would have made the arc's story more dragged out, and I didn't want that. As the first arc, I wanted it to be as dynamic and simple as possible. So, there's a final boss fight that was scrapped and will probably never appear. But since I'm indecisive, I might end up using it in the future, so I won't give any more details.
Secondly, we have... Deaths. Exactly. Initially, I imagined the deaths of almost all the members of the adventurer group, but as I wrote, I decided to kill only Lirian.
That's all for the discarded content, but there's probably more that I can't remember right now. If I do remember, I'll include it in the next edition of Lost Letters.
Now, let's move on to some trivia. In this section, there will also only be two points, since I need to save content for the future.
First, I think it's pretty obvious, but Broke was heavily inspired by Guts from Berserk. Not just her, but also by Clare from Claymore and Maika from the American comic Monstress (highly recommend it!), among others...
But of course, she becomes quite original over time... I guarantee it.
The second bit of trivia is more trivial, but it's fun to know. The Screaming Boar tavern hunts its own giant boars, but, obviously, it's the waiters who hunt them, who don't get paid extra for it and are still humiliated by Bruni. Pretty sad, right?
And finally, last but not least, let's get into the future news.
You may have noticed that in recent days I've been having trouble maintaining the regular release schedule for chapters, which have almost always been delayed. Well, I'll explain: the biggest problem is time. That's right, I've been juggling many things at once, and starting to publish Dead Gods was one of them, along with personal projects and issues, future projects, and news for the upcoming Dead Gods franchise.
All of this has been consuming a lot of my time, but I promise to improve. And that's why I'm announcing that chapter 25 will be released on 09/03 (Yes, I'll leave Sunday for rest).
Also, in the news, we have this series of special chapters that I intend to release at least once a month, perhaps at the end of the month, like today. In the future, I'll share more details about a guide that I'll be releasing, a website, and also about the end of volume 1, which is approaching, among other things...
But well, that's it. It's a way to get closer to you and share a bit of how things work behind the scenes. This first edition is short, but I promise the next one will be much longer. That's it, until next time, and thank you very much for finding this lost letter.
PS: I'm addicted to Zenless Zone Zero.
