Chapter 11 - Crazy situation
Boom!
The sounds of fighting and hurried footsteps echoed around us, loud and clear. The air was thick with the noise of clashing jutsu.
"Nami, let's go," I called out urgently.
"Yes," she replied, swiftly pulling her mask back on.
As soon as we left the cave, the cacophony of ninjutsu filled the air, drawing us toward the battlefield. We sprinted toward the source of the commotion, and upon arrival, we saw the Mist shinobi engaging two girls who looked around my age.
It was Kara and Juri. Their situation was dire—blood was oozing from exposed wounds, their bodies barely holding up against the relentless assault.
Kara and Juri were three years older than me—not because I was a genius, but because our clan matured quickly. Still, I feared this might be my limit, though I hoped I could become just a bit stronger.
The enemy forces surrounding them consisted of about ten Genin and four Chunin, all attacking at once. Juri's condition was worse than Kara's—she was bleeding profusely from her forehead, barely able to continue fighting. Kara, on the other hand, was struggling to fend off the attackers, her movements slowing with each passing moment.
Seeing them in such a state, Nami and I didn't hesitate. We charged in, joining the fray without a second thought.
The battle was intense and lasted longer than expected, but we eventually managed to defeat them all.
[14/50 Shinobi killed]
"Why did you two come back?" I asked, panting heavily from exertion.
"We came to help you, idiot," Kara snapped back, equally out of breath.
"And how exactly did you help us?" I replied sarcastically, though I was grateful for their presence.
Just as we were about to retreat, a kunai came flying toward me. I dodged it at the last second, only to see more Mist shinobi emerging from the shadows.
One of them charged at Juri from behind, but Kara was quick to react, using her shadow technique to stop him in his tracks. I seized the moment, throwing a shuriken that embedded itself in the shinobi's skull, ending his life instantly.
Realizing we were outnumbered, I activated my X-ray eyes to gain an advantage. I spotted two more shinobi attempting to sneak up on us. Without hesitation, I launched a Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu, incinerating them before they could strike.
I then rushed toward other shinobi who were distracted by Nami-sensei's insects, taking them down with a combination of shuriken and well-timed dodges. We fought back-to-back, supporting each other as we battled the relentless wave of enemies.
But no matter how many we killed, their numbers seemed to only increase.
[33/50 Shinobi killed]
Then, to our horror, reinforcements arrived—more than 100 additional shinobi. The odds were overwhelming, and we knew that even if we fought to the death, victory seemed impossible.
Kara froze in fear, her body stiff like a statue. One of the enemy shinobi rushed toward her, his sword raised to deliver a fatal blow. Juri, who was beside her, tried to protect Kara, but she was too slow.
Before the sword could pierce Kara's heart, I lunged forward, grabbing the shinobi's arm and driving my kunai into his brain. I yanked it out and tossed his lifeless body aside. Turning to Kara and Juri, I smiled reassuringly.
"Are you two okay?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady despite the danger looming before us.
