Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 I Don't Want to Serve Anymore

"There's no point in talking about it, I just came down for a drink of water. You should rest early too," Xia Fanxing didn't want to say too much, not wanting to appear overly jealous of Liang Chuchu.

After drinking her water, she went upstairs without giving Mu Hanchen an extra glance from start to finish.

It was Mu Hanchen who stole a glance at her retreating figure.

Ignoring him?

Interesting.

The next day, Xia Fanxing indulged in a rare lie-in.

She looked at the warm sunshine outside and stretched lazily.

The feeling of not having to wake up early to make breakfast for Mu Hanchen was wonderful.

After washing up, she felt hungry.

Humming a song, she went downstairs to prepare something delicious for herself.

Unexpectedly, she saw Mu Hanchen's exquisitely carved face.

Wasn't he supposed to be at the company at this hour? Why was he still at home?

But it didn't matter, it had nothing to do with her anyway.

As if she hadn't seen Mu Hanchen at all, Xia Fanxing headed straight for the kitchen.

She fried her favorite eggs and ham, toasted two slices of bread, and heated some milk.

It all smelled delicious.

Xia Fanxing carried her food out and sat down at the dining table to savor her meal.

Before long, Mu Hanchen also came over but noticed that there was no breakfast for him on the table.

His expression clearly darkened, "Where's my breakfast?"

Xia Fanxing's hand, which was holding the milk, paused slightly as she coldly replied, "I didn't make it."

Mu Hanchen's anger was thick and nearly palpable, "Xia Fanxing, what are you throwing a temper tantrum about!"

He had left the entire company unattended to wait here for her to eat, and this was the attitude she was showing him.

Xia Fanxing, on the other hand, felt Mu Hanchen was being ridiculous, "I'm not throwing a tantrum. You don't like the food I cook, right? So, I just won't cook for you anymore."

Mu Hanchen frowned. When had he ever said he didn't like her cooking?

As if reading his confusion, Xia Fanxing kindly reminded him, "You didn't eat a single bite of the dish I made yesterday."

In that moment, Mu Hanchen finally understood her grievance.

"Yesterday, Chuchu returned from overseas. Her plane was delayed, and she did not dare to take a cab home alone, so I went to pick her up. I didn't expect her to get a fever as soon as she got home, and I had to look after her for a bit. But I rushed back as fast as I could and even brought you a birthday gift. What else are you unsatisfied with?"

He explained so much because he didn't want Xia Fanxing to misunderstand and to return to her former self—docile, sensible, obedient.

Xia Fanxing, however, was noncommittal, "I am not unsatisfied with anything; I simply don't want to wait on you anymore."

Mu Hanchen, who had been observing her with a slight frown, suddenly stood up and walked towards her.

Xia Fanxing's heart tightened instantly; he wasn't angry and about to hit her, was he?

She subconsciously thought to get up and leave, but she was frozen in place by his suddenly icy stare. She could only sit stiffly, letting him lift her chin as he said in a cold voice, "Xia Fanxing, you're my woman. If you don't want to wait on me, who do you want to wait on? Or are you saying you want a divorce?"

Mu Hanchen knew that Xia Fanxing's biggest fear was him uttering the word "divorce."

He just wanted to put an end to her unreasonable temper.

Otherwise, she would become uncontrollable.

Xia Fanxing's heart turned sour. Sure enough, with the return of his old flame, she, his wife, became redundant.

"Mu Hanchen."

"What, do you realize you were wrong?"

Xia Fanxing looked at Mu Hanchen with calm, indifferent eyes as if looking at a stranger and spoke word by word, "Yes, I want a divorce."

Mu Hanchen looked as if he had heard something unbelievable. His eyes instantly became fierce, "What did you say? Say it again."

Yet Xia Fanxing maintained her composure and said lightly, "I said let's get a divorce. I will pack up and move out today. Have your lawyer draft the divorce agreement and courier it to me. As long as it's fair, I will sign it immediately. I won't hold up your new life with Liang Chuchu."

He had pushed for divorce more than once, and every time it was her who humbly admitted her wrongs and begged for forgiveness.

But this time, she truly wanted to be free.

Mu Hanchen's eyes narrowed slightly, displeased, as he scrutinized Xia Fanxing's expression, trying to discern whether she meant what she said.

A moment of silence passed.

It seemed she was serious.

But what did this have to do with Liang Chuchu?
